Course Curriculum Overview

3

The curriculum is more theory based. They just teaches us the concpets only. Just shows a PPT and teaches us. No practical applications are there in our curriculum. More practical sessions, live projects and industry colloboration can enhance this. The exams are conducting regularly. In 3-4 month semester we have 1 module test, 2 series test and final exam conducted by university. First we have a module test which includes one module. Then we have 2 series test which having minimum 2 modules to study.

Placement Experience

3

The placements here are quite good, but not great. Because only 50% of students in a class are getting placed. From S7 onwards the placements have been started for our department. But for other departments, from S8 only companies have arrived. For CSE department, many companies are coming which include Cognizant, SOTI, Mitsogo, EY, 6D Technologies, etc. Our senior batch students have placed at many companies in this. But comparing with other senior batches, the placements at our batch is really bad.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure at our college is based on category and financial aid. For our batch it is Rs. 44500. But after availing scholarship, it is reduced to Rs. 39500. Additionally, there is a one-time refundable caution deposit of Rs. 10000. Students under several reserved categories such as ST, SC, OEC may have reduced fees, with government subsidies covering tuition expenses. The college offers several scholarships to support students financially. Those who scored 95% and above in Plus two exams receive a reduction of Rs. 10000 per semester. For students securing 90% and above get a fee reduction of Rs. 5000 per semester. Additionally, fee concessions are provided based on KEAM rank. The overall fee structure has slight changes over the years. For precise information, students can contact the admission office.

Campus Life

5

The overall campus experience is good. There are many events been conducted at our college including Arts Day, Union Day, College Day, Sports Day and Techfest. The Annual techfest 'Tharang' is really awesome. Its mostly conducted at odd semester. There are many books and journals available at Library and it can be accessed till 5:30pm. There is also a digital library facilty. The sports facilites at Jyothi is good. We have teams for basketball, cricket, football, volleyball , etc. There are 2 basketball courts, one volleyball ground and a multipurpose ground which is used for football and cricket. There are many student run social groups including NSS, IEEE, MuLearn, GDSC which provide students a platform to engage.

Hostel Facilities

2

If you are looking to enjoy your nights and enjoy with friends better not oopt hostel. After 6:30 we have curfew at hostel. The only thing good at hostel is the food. The wardens at hostel are very strict. For anything we need permission from warden. For even attending a program conducting by our department at college, there are lot of permissions required. And the main thing is we cant enter into others room. If anyone found entered into others room, they need to write apology. The rooms during the first year was good. But after first year we will get a small room and there is no enough space to even walk. If you want to enjoy your college life, better dont opt hostel. Stay outside the college. There are many PGs available.

Admission

I have only applied to this college. One of my friend who was studying in this college suggested me this college. Because of my KEAM mark, I didn't get other government colleges for CSE. Then I see a better option for CSE was Jyothi. Heard that lot of placements there for CSE at Jyothi. Thats why I applied here. The admission process was quite simple for me. I just contacted the number given in Jyothi official website and knows the details. The only criteria is to pass the KEAM exam. Then based on ranking in KEAM and Plus 2 marks, I got admission.

Faculty

4

Our faculty to student ratio is about 1:15. This is not an accurate ratio. The approach of faculties at our department is good. In CSE dept, almost all faculties are friendly. They help us in mentoring our projects and studies. In our college, there are 2 series exams are conducted. Our department also conduct one module test per semester, which is comparitevely easy. Also lots of assignments are also given as part of internal mark valuvation.

Night Life

2

There is no night life at Jyothi. Even hostellers need to enter the hostel before 6:30pm. The nights of Jyothi are seen only during the techfest and when some hackathons or other night programs have conducted. The college is from 9:00am to 4:00pm. After 4:30 almost all students will leave the campus. Gym is not in the college campus, its avaliable in the hostel. There is a canteen which having good food and Jyotsana for some snacks. The hangout places at Jyothi are Canteen and Alumini Corner. We can spend many time with our friends and relax. The locality that is Cheruthuruthy is best place for roam around at night. But you should not opt for hostel. If you are staying in roomsoutside the college, Cheruthuruthy is best place to roam at night

The campus placements are decent. getting placed in a big company is more about having the technical and soft skills to pass the interviews. the placement training helps us develop soft skills but the technical skills must be developed ourselves.
