Course Curriculum Overview

2

I liked electrical engineering because as a young boy i liked to play with electrical equipments and to make electrical things. Thats why i choose this course. But the syllabus wasn't merciful to me. I had to study all kind of unwanted derivations and problems by heart just for the exams. And the curriculum was very much outdated. It should change the exam type, semester time and also include a lot of relevant things to the curriculum. The curriculum should include relevant subjects and cut down unwanted by heart study required subjects. Athd also the university should conduct exams on time and should publish results on time. I wasn't getting enough time to study all these hard subjects. And got some supplimentries due to that.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

There where good internship oppertunities. I got internship at keltron, tata power solar. In tata power solar we where sales and marketing trainees. In keltron it was fire and safety. There where projects and the whole class contributed to make an electric car.

Placement Experience

2

From 6th semester students were eligible for campus placements. And student can apply for placement. There where very few companies coming for placements. Only IT companies where coming. There where less chance for electrical engineering students. And also some of the companies they place where very bad to work. The companies visited where LGB coimbatore, Accenture, Qburst, TCS, Manappuram finance,Sutherland, etc... If students have some supplimentries, they where not allowed to participate in the placements. The percentage of students getting placed where around 40 percentage. Highest package where 12 lpa and lowest where 2.5 lpa. I plan to work as an electrical engineering for around one year in India and then to go abroad for job.

Fees and Financial Aid

I was paying a semester fees og 10000 rupees and exam fees of 2000 around. The caution deposit was 5000 rupees. Registration and admission fees was around 1000 rupees. There where no additional charges like lab fees. There where other fees gor college fest. It was around 500 rupees every semester. Some of my batch mates where paying around 45000 rupees per semester as tution fees. And some doesn't have any tution fees considering their casts and other scholarships. I was getting a merit seat and only had to pay 10000 rupees. Some of my batch mates also got thos merit seat. The college where giving this merit seats because thry had to fill around 40 seats in the class for getting NBA accreditation.

Campus Life

4

There where good tech fests and other hackathons happening in the college. There where good tech fests like Tharang. It was around march time. The library was good and journals and books where available. The ieee members only journals where also available in the college. The class had projector and all the classes used projectors for classes. There where no sports periods until last year. That was only onr period per week. It was a disaster for students. There where good social life in the college. It was very good. Also some clubs where there.

Admission

We had a common exam for the admissions. And the rank in the exam determines which college we get to study. I was trying to get into the government college. But didn't had enough rank to get the set. This i got into Jyothi engineering college Thrissur according to my rank. Couldn't apply to other colleges because the system works like that. If we get any college we should join there. To get admission should pass in the lateral entrance exam. And should have good rank in them to get admission.

Faculty

3.5

We had 2 class tutors. One male and one female. Around 8 subjecs every semester including labs. And there where one faculty for each subjects. They where open minded and approachable for clearing doubts. Rich sir who took math's in 3rd semester was very good. And shijoh sir in 7th semester acs was good. Also Navin sir for 5th semester magnet theory was good. These teachers where very good at teaching. They where very open minded and like friends to students. The faculty i didn't like was jithin sir in 3rd semester. I simply didn't like hos teaching style. The course curriculum is not relevant in todays engineering applications. We where still studying outdated syllabus. One semester was around 5 months for us. And we had two sets of internal exams and a final semester exams. We didn't get enough study leave for final exams. Also there where alot of students failing because they didn't had enough time to study this hard subjects.

As seniors said the average package is around 10lpa.If you have descent skills and above 8 cgpa you will get this average package. If you upskill yourself with effort which many students do here then you can also get above 15lpa which many seniors got.The highest package was off-campus by an ECE Student in Google despite having cgpa around 6.He had very good skills as a full stack developer.

Placement Experience:

The placements here are quite good, but not great. Because only 50% of students in a class are getting placed. From S7 onwards the placements have been started for our department. But for other departments, from S8 only companies have arrived. For CSE department, many companies are coming which include Cognizant, SOTI, Mitsogo, EY, 6D Technologies, etc. Our senior batch students have placed at many companies in this. But comparing with other senior batches, the placements at our batch is really bad.

Students are eligible for placement from the 7th semester and internship from 3rd semester. You can apply for internship on your own right from first semester but college gives aid from 3rd semester. The major recruiter is ISRO which offers 40-45 jobs for aerospace engineering. Also other companies like CDac Airbus Boeing and DRDO and HAL visit for recruitment. Nearly 85-90% students get placed while some opt for Higher education and research too. My primary goal is to get into ISRO also I will be preparing for gate examination to complete my IIT dream.
