Course Curriculum Overview

4

Major attraction for joining the college is the opportunity to join ISRO through direct interview. Also my Specific intrest in the field of structure and design was one of the reason to join the institution. Dr.Sam Noble the structure and design tutor for the institution is one of the best teacher in India for this do subject. Improvement can be done in the way c++ course is provided. More emphasis can be given to labs than to written exams for this course.

Internships Opportunities

3

Many Internship are available in the colleges nearby also at the college's own space center SSpace. But the major Intership attraction is ISRO as there is a internship drive by ISRO in the 6th Semester. Companies based intersnship are not much observed.

Placement Experience

4

Students are eligible for placement from the 7th semester and internship from 3rd semester. You can apply for internship on your own right from first semester but college gives aid from 3rd semester. The major recruiter is ISRO which offers 40-45 jobs for aerospace engineering. Also other companies like CDac Airbus Boeing and DRDO and HAL visit for recruitment. Nearly 85-90% students get placed while some opt for Higher education and research too. My primary goal is to get into ISRO also I will be preparing for gate examination to complete my IIT dream.

Fees and Financial Aid

Total Fees is 162000 I will get 84000 tution fee waiver according to the income based scholarship. Scholarship Scheme If Income is less than 1 lakh complete tution fee refund. If Income between 1-5 lakh 66% tution fee refund. National Scholarship portal scholarship are also available on top of these scholarships.

Campus Life

4

The college has two major fest The Technical fest Conscientia which was recently held and was a big hit. Also the cultural fest know as Dhanak which is also one of the biggest gets in the state of Kerela. Talking about books and journals in library they are highly accessible and also opportunity to use libraries accross the world through e Library collaboration is possible. The sports facilities are available in good numbers but are below the belt compared to IITs and NITs. There are dozen of student run co-curricular and extra curricular clubs. One of the biggest social activities club is Nirmaan. Major clubs are Astouns Dance club, Neptune - Music Club, Aero Club and Jeev Yantra - Robotics club. Also the astronomy club Celestial is one of its kind in the country.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel rooms are quite basic. The mainly contain a bed a cupboard a side table and a study table. Plugs are provided near every study table. The Institute is strictly residential so you can reside outside the institute you have to use the college hostel. Also the college hostel is quite affordable with 30000 per annum with food included. The food is quite basic also as one mess is present in campus the menu is maintained to suit both South and North Indian taste.

Admission

I had applied for Jossa, Csab and Mht Cet councelling. I had got Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad, Information Technology Branch in Jossa I was allotted with Electronics and Communication Engineering branch at NIT Trichy in CSAB. In MHT-CET councelling I was allotted with Pune Institute of Computer Technology (PICT) Pune Computer Engineering. As I had more inclination towards mechanical design and structures I decided to opt for Aerospace Engineering at Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology Thiruvananthapuram. The admission process for my college is through a seperate councelling process carried out on their own website iist.ac.in The eligibility is 75% marks in 12th boards and Jee advanced Qualification according to reservation category.

Faculty

4

The faculty to student ratio I nearly 1:10 as the college has limited students. Also all the faculties are well qualified and teach upto the mark. Sometimes some of th faculties may be too fast at teaching but the phd students assigned as teaching assistants are a really good aid in these situations. In first year according to New Education Policy we'll be having one mid sem exam (25-35 marks variable according to the teacher) and end sem exam (40 marks) and continuous internal assessment (35-25 marks). Exams are quotes difficult according to my experience in mid term. Even the highest scores are about 75-80% of total marks. Subjects in first year are Thermodynamics, Physics, Chemistry, Calculus, Communication Skills,C++ and Software labs like Auto Cad and Inventor Professional.

Other Applied Colleges

Pune Institute of Computer Technology- [PICT] | Bachelor of Engineering [BE] (Computer Engineering)

NIT Trichy | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Electronics & Communication Engineering)
