IIIT KOTTAYAM - a Honest review

The syllabus is modern than compared to NITs , as required for current tech world. It covers all the topics related to computer science. We can go in depth ourselves of what we liked .Many students get internship from 2nd year,3rd year .Each semester is 4 months long (2 semester a year). There will be one midsem exam in middle and end semester.The last month will be packed with quizes, assignment,lab exams.Other months will have in-class labs through laptop, tutorials .

In winter and summer holidays internships are provided within the campus but with limited slots.If you have good Cgpa and skills you will be selected.tough for a 1st year student to get selected. students get internship by applying themselves off campus only. Many students are getting off campus internships.

As seniors said the average package is around 10lpa.If you have descent skills and above 8 cgpa you will get this average package. If you upskill yourself with effort which many students do here then you can also get above 15lpa which many seniors got.The highest package was off-campus by an ECE Student in Google despite having cgpa around 6.He had very good skills as a full stack developer.

Every year have fees of ?4,40,000 for all category indian students.NRI students fees is still very high. After initial payment of a semester fees you can apply for government scholarshipa in which sc/st ,pwd, economically poor candidates will get scholaeship upto 2lakh which will take upto 1year after applying.The fees should be paid as 2,20,000 for each semester.The deadlines are very strict. This fees is this high because it is not completely government college.

The Annual Sports fest(Pradhva) here is poorly organized and the ground here is not fit for cricket(size).No indoor courts are here.No basketball courts.only football and volleyball can be played well.There are no auditorium,seminar halls. There will be a open theatre where all minor cultural events will happen.The cultural clubs are very active and will have an event every week. The annual Cultural fest (Pradhva) will be nice here.The classes are with smart board.The technical clubs will have an event almost everyday from any one club.These are completely managed by students and we get many management, communication skills because of this.These events will be properly organized.There is also an entrepreneurship cell which says it would help startups . Recently one startup was funded by it. There are lot of tourist spots around the campus.waterfalls,cochin is 2hr away,Azhapuzha is near.In 7 km there is a town-pala which has everything.

Hostel for 1st year students are outside the campus within 5km. 2,3,4th year students have hostels inside and all the rooms will be good. Each room will have 3 people.Cupboard,cot, bed&pillow, window screens are provided.The room will be spacious enough. The food is average. students often order online. Non-veg will be served 3 times a week, a poor quality Chicken 2 days and good biriyani on Sunday night. Everyone must compulsory stay in hostel.

I wrote jee , I looked for colleges only in south india as I'm from Tamilnadu. I got amritha,VIT,IIIT kanchipuram -mechanical.I needed cse and this college is a central government college and the students will be disciplined, this is the main reason I chose this over VIT,amritha.In online IIIT KOTTAYAM, AMRITA,VIT all have similar placement report but many students saying that VIT,amrita placement reports are fake

For every students a faculty advisor will be assigned, you can ask any doubts to them at campus.There will be 1 faculty advisor for every 40 students. There are few good professors ,rest are very bad. The bad faculties just read out the ppt and explain very badly.The exams are not very tough, if you are serious you can get above 9 cgpa.The cgpa will be evaluated not only by end semester exam but also through quiz, assignment,lab, tutorials.

The students can roam inside the campus upto 10pm and outside the campus till 7pm.There are no good places to explore within the campus. Campus have 2 canteens, cafeteria,gym(specific slots alloted for each student), library is small which can accommodate 50 person max.The campus timings are 8am-4pm and Fridays are half day upto 12pm.Sat&sun are holidays .you can't roam outside college in night as it is a dark forest.There are many good places in pala town nearby to hangout which is 7km away and you get a government but to there often near campus.
