Course Curriculum Overview

4

This Curriculum majorly focuses on industry level courses and subjects which enhances the ability of the student to prepare well for the semester exams as well as focus majorly on the industry level high demand skills as well; if the candidate aligns it properly. The curriculum is structured in a way which is specifically made for projects related to real world applications and helps the students to get ready for the industry level skills. The areas for improvements needed in the course curriculum is that college should majorly focus only on the subjects that is relevant to the industry level skills since some of the subjects taught by the college is not industry based subjects which industry demands, and in terms of the teaching method, faculties should arrange practical sessions more for the students to make them clear understanding of the subject.

Internships Opportunities

4

I have received an off campus internship and I have worked as a Machine Learning Intern at YHills Edutech Private Limited and Currently working under Infotact Solutions Private Limited as a Data Science and Machine Learning Intern for 3 months. The first internship was unpaid since i was the campus ambassador and the next internship is paid internship. The projects I have worked in the first internship was machine learning projects like students performance predictor and house price estimator and also smart spend analysis. Students performance predictions uses logistic regression to find out the students who have passed or failed on the basis of number of hours they have studied. House price Estimator is to estimate the prices on the basis of the features provided to the model.

Placement Experience

4

Placements cells are supportive in terms of networking with different companies and are readily active for the students competing in getting internships and placements. The college has a tie up with different companies like Infosys , Wipro , Deloitte , IBM , NVIDIA , Deshaw Private Limited etc. Students become eligible from semester 5 onwards for on campus placements. The offers made by these companies are 8 LPA to 9 LPA by deloitte , innfosys , and IBM but the highest package is being offered by Deshaw and NVIDIA that is 60 LPA and 47 LPA. The average package is around 11 LPA and the percentage of students getting placed are above 80%. My plan after getting the degree is to work for an IT Company to get the hands on knowledge about what the current technologies demand and get experienced in that and work further upon it.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees structure varies as per the semester. Tuition fees in an year is 2,18,000/- . Hostel facility/Maintenance fees varies from one semester to second semester that ranges from 51,000/- to 68,000/-. Mess Advance varies from 46,200/- to 61,000/- in an year. Medical Insurance for every year is 950/-. Caution Deposit for four years is 10,000/-. Mess and Sports for one time fees are 750/-. It is only advance and will change every year depending on the increase/decrease of the various expenditure. This is for all the categories except the fact that SC/ST are benifitted for scholarship programs like Optum scholarships, NSP(National Scholarship portal), Rajarshi chhatrapati shahu maharaj shikshan shulk shishyavrutti yojna scholarship program are there for the SC/ST candidates.

Campus Life

4

Overall experience in our campus life is very disciplined and students are taught disciplined life. There is a timeline which students needs to follow to go outside and get inside the hostel. The technical fests are Apoorv Fest for all over the college and annual fest for freshers. Apporv fests are held once every year and it is considered as one of the biggest bests across the college in which outside colleges also participate. Adavya is conducted once in a year for freshers fest. Other festivals which take place here is Deepawali , Saraswati Puja , Onam festival and so on. Most of the books related to college and academics studies are available in the library. The college also provides the students with ebooks technology which makes it accessible to all the students who are studying for any exam preparation. In sports, every year Intrasports competition are held here in which includes various sports like cricket , football , badminton , basketball , kho-kho , 100 meter , 200 meter , 400 meter relay race , gym competition. Medals are also provided to the students by the registrar if they perform very wwell on sports and definitely get a chance to play Inter sports which is conducted in other IIITs. There are many students who run cultural groups as well as they run coding clubs like codechef , leetcode. It is impactful since it motivates majority of students to work on their skills which companies demands.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel facility provided to the students are well organized and up to the mark. In an on campus hostel, there are 3 persons that can be accomodated in the room and 2 wardrobes are provided in the room. 3 beds and 3 study tables. Meal quality is above average in our college campus and mess provides us with breakfast , lunch , dinner with different varieties everyday. Evening snacks is also available. Mess provides non veg 3 times a week and rest of the time its veg. Registration process for hostel and affordability they make the student write their name , roll number and also the signature , then the student get their respective keys. I have an inside campus Hostel rooms.

Admission

I cleared JEE MAINS and on the basis of my rank, I applied for many colleges. I was specifically looking for the top two engineering branches that is Computer Science and Electronics and Communication Engineering and have applied for many but could not get into it due to higher rank category. Earlier I got Civil Engineering in NIT SILCHAR then I got Electronics and Communication Engineering at IIIT KOTTAYAM. I preferred IIIT KOTTAYAM over NIT SILCHAR because of the branch since Electronics and Communication Engineering is considered the second best branch after Computer Science Engineering. Yes, I got rejection from other colleges because the eligibility criteria for those colleges were securing high rank but my rank was not up to the mark. To get into such colleges , students need to clear Jee Mains and secure a good rank to get into such colleges. For general category , students need to get the rank under 30000 to get admission to such colleges. Colleges are listed via Josaa Counselling. Admission procedure is the student need to bring some of the important documents such as 10th and 12th board marksheet , category paper , jee rank and other such important documents to get into the admission procedure. The process starts in the academic section.

Faculty

4

Approx 1:20 is the faculty to students ratio. Faculties to students relationships is like the mentor to student relationship , they are ready to help even after the lectures are completed. They are educated in their field so we can approach them related to any issues. Major faculties have good networking so they send some of the great potentials to other colleges for internships as well. Personally I liked Minu Pillai , department of electronics and communication because of the way she had clear understanding of the subject and the way of teaching. Some of the faculties I did not like personally was Santhosh Kumar as for him, working was always the top priority but never appreciated the effort of the students. There are mid semester and end semester exams in each semester that is conducted. Along with that quizzes , assignments , lab exams for specific subjects and vivas are conducted. The difficulty of the exam depends on the subject any faculty teaches. In general the difficulty of the exam is medium to hard. 99% students manages to pass the exam as per the standard deviation and since it exactly matches with the industry level curriculum so it is definitely relevant as the course

Night Life

3

Nightlife in our college campus is limited upto 9:30 pm. After 9:30, all the students are allowed to get inside the hostel campus otherwise strict actions are taken against them. Gym timings for boys are 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the evening and 6:00 am to 7:00 am in the morning and for girls it is 7:00 am to 8:00 am in the morning and 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the evening and cafeterias are opened from 10:30 am in the morning till 9:30 pm at night. The famous hangout places inside and outside the college campuses are near the academic area where all the participants gather across there and have a jamming session s and dance sessions as well.

Campus placements are highly volatile taking the stats from over the past three years there has been an up trend as well a down trend, I hope I will get placed through on campus interviews, the highest package of this year was for two graduates who got into IBM with 22 lakhs per aanum, there are few who didn't get into any of the companies while there were others who got int Amazon and other reputated companies, if I do not get into a reputed company through my college on campus placements the.
