Course Curriculum Overview

I would rate the KTU B.Tech curriculum 3.5/5 for relevance and comprehensiveness. The curriculum provides a strong theoretical foundation in core engineering subjects, which influenced my decision to choose this course and is helpful for higher studies and exams like GATE. While labs, mini projects, and the final-year project offer some practical exposure, real-world applicability is limited and depends largely on faculty and college support. The curriculum needs improvement through updated industry-relevant content, more hands-on learning, and project-based teaching methods. KTU follows a semester-based exam system with frequent internal assessments and centralized end-semester exams. The exams are moderate to difficult, with a vast syllabus and strict evaluation, making consistent preparation necessary.

Internships Opportunities

We are offered internship from lifosys, which is an AI software development company for health care solutions. We have given training for AI and full stack development. And we had session with the ceo. We are then assigned to do projects and they short listed the projects and given prizes for the best project.

Placement Experience

The placement trainings are provided from the first semester onwards to improve the performance of the students. Many companies are visiting the college for recruitments. Majority students are placed from the college.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am paying 39000 yr. I am FW category. The tuition mentioned is 78000 and caution fees is 10000 and registration fee is 25000. My batchmates pay their fees as mentioned by the institute. There are financial aid available for SC/ST category and NRI.

Campus Life

We have our annual fest advay which is conducted with excellence and the auto mobile expo is very stunning with vehicles making the the college loud and the dj night are marvelous with singers and bands which is a amazing experience for the students. The college is actively participating in intra college sport events and conducting sports events inside the college such as cricket, football, badminton etc.

Admission

This is a famous college and the alumnus where highly placed. And the college is NBA accredited. It have an A grade rank by the NAAC. And the faculties are supportive for the events. The college have placement trainings from the first semester onwards. Overall it was a nice experience while in the admission.

Faculty

The faculties are friendly and supportive to us. They provide us with events workshops etc to boost our performances. Every faculties are perfect and no need for any comparisons between them. Exams are conducted other than the internal exams to improve learning insights and to analyse the weak areas. The curriculum is nice as it is updated. Overall the courses are done in a clean and effective manner.

Interview Experience

We are provided with group discussion and verbal aptitude training along with the placement trainings and we have given topics for discussion and the session was really intresting and informative for the students.

Night Life

There are cafeteria inside the college and libraries in each blocks and there are public areas to hangout and refresh inside the college. I'm not a hosteller and I'm not that aware of the timings in the hostel. The collage starts at 9 am in the morning and the classes will be over by 4 pm in the evening.

Good life memory

Likes

College ambience was too attractive. Friendly atmosphere ആൻഡ് very nice hidden spots and food spots inside the college
The faculty was too supportive and encouragive nature that was also in studies and extra curricular activities also that be very kind of them
There is not only aim to study but also encourage the extra activities. The management was also very supportive to students and also the faculties.

Dislikes

There is very strict to attendence. There was not to bunk the class every hour there will take the attendence and there will be absent they autimaticaly send sms to registerd phone
There is too many exams and assignments that will be little bit problem for students
Canteen facilities little bit bad in my college life time. There was not that much food veriety

Placement Experience:

From 6 th semester onwards campus placement taken. There was coming in bcs, infopark, wipro, etc. Companies are mainly appeared and also many other companies came select many students. The main companies take students in cutoff 8.5or9 cgpa. And some other compnies take students they have backpapers.

I choose btech cse cause it was the trending course at that time and I was computer science student in my high school so it was best for me to choose btech cse at that time. And I believe it cold be a great career choice

This college is not what it seems in the first look.

Likes

College was at a beautiful place. It was not a city but a beautiful place.
Hostel was great. I got many friends from there.
These are the only things that I can think of.

Dislikes

Teachers, they are horrible one one teacher named aparna was professional and ethical. My HOD was the worst.
Principal is the worst. She does not hear students side. She is money minded. I had a fee pending for not more than 2 week. When I went to her for signing my medical report she demanded that she will sign only after I paid that fee
The college does not encourage extra curricular activities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is the worst. Teachers rush through the portions so that they can finish at the earliest. It may be because the university has a unjustifiable timetable. There is very little practicals given. The ones that are given are just for namesake.

Likes

Decent infrastructure. hostel infrastructure is also clean and better than most colleges

Dislikes

Very poor campus life. No importance for cultural programmes and activities
Very poor and degrading environment for women. Faculties and other staff are very judgemental.
Very low packages for average students. Placement training is regularly being provided, but it is too hectic to be managed along with curriculum.

Placement Experience:

students become eligible for placements after sixth semester. Major companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, e.t.c are recruiters. about 5-10 students are recuited on average by these companies. highest package was offered by south indian bank in 2023 (10 LPA). average packges are around 2 to 3 LPA.

We have a very good faculty family that is not only supportive but also loving.

Placement Experience:

From the seventh semester we are eligible for the placements. They provide placement training sessions in the college itself. Computer Science department has almost hundred percent placements. Also there is mtech in the college if you prefer higher studies.

TIST , Great college , fun events and more

Likes

Our seniors passed out with flying colors joining different companies or starting their own. There's a good focus on peer learning and student communities which is pretty nice. Canteen food is decent and labs are great
Most people and professors are friendly and they encourage you to try out new things.

Dislikes

Hostel water , busses are pretty fast. Sometimes roads are a bitt rough

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

I feel like staffs in my department are pretty good, atleast they fullfill their duties to cover the portions in right time
We have placements training, offered free of cost by college itself
Notes and necessary materials for studying are provided from college itself, and most teachers don't force on buying textbooks or other materials

Dislikes

College is located in aarakunnam, which is a bit remote area hence for various needs we often need to travel a few kilometres even for basic necessities
The road to collage entrance is a steep road, and currently it's under construction (it's been a yr)
Students are required to park their vehicles outside the college, as there is no parking facilities for students inside campus

Placement Experience:

Currently placements are bit low, due to inflation, but compared to other colleges like KMEA, etc we have better placements similar to Muthoot and all. We have placement training, and other supports which can help us crack aptitude exams and prepare for placements Almost 70-80% students are placed every year, with an avg package of 4LPA

Programs and activities are good and the support

After 6 th semester students become eligible for placements . It's in the final years . Many companies have visited the college and made offers for the students like Wipro,Tenzo tech , infopark etc Around 70 Percent students get placement

When it comes to the campus life, I enjoyed all the 4 years
The infrastructure was okayish Could've improved.
The faculty was really friendly and I was able to approach them without any hesitation.

Dislikes

The road from the junction to the college is not at all maintained. Students coming up the hill find it very difficult to reach college
The bus fees are increased every year. But these people can't find a way to provide seats for the students after paying their bus fee.
Some other campus offer many varieties of food in their canteen. This has to be done here too

Placement Experience:

The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.

Remarks:

Yeah well, positive things are there. I got many friends. I got a degree. I learned much personal and professional knowledge. I also learned how to live independently for 4 years without parents alone somewhere.

This college is not what it seems in the first look.

I did not choose this college. I just got enrolled here due to parents compelling.i had applied to some other colleges too. The process for admission is that you need to submit your mark lists and related documents along with a hefty admission fee. Then your seat is secured. Comparing to other collages the main reason I opted this college isnthe fees. And on that rage of fees it is offering decent placements. I also attended the GD and PI of TKM but the fees there is very high compared to our college. The admission procedure in our college includes registation, and a personal interview. TIST , Great college , fun events and more

Admission process was fine overall , They either needed a good KEAM rank, or JEE percentile works fine too. Since i had a decent JEE percentile rank i went for that option. JEE is of course pretty tough compared to keam but it can be managed. KEAM is out of 900 where 400 above is considered good Form can be found in their respective sites...Read More
