Likes

Hostel life is basic but comfortable. Rooms are decent, and the mess offers a mix of Kerala and North Indian food. Students bond over late-night study sessions, assignments, and everyday challenges.
Seniors at IIIT Kottayam are incredibly supportive and approachable. Here no discrimination based on states.
And here language is not the problem at all. Most of the Kerala students, peoples know Hindi and English. Because in Kerala education curriculum Hindi is compulsory language till class 8.

Dislikes

Like most institutes, IIIT Kottayam requires a minimum percentage of attendance (typically 80%) for students to be eligible to appear for end-semester exams.80 percent is more than other government colleges.

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum is designed to align with current industry trends and technologies, particularly in computer science and electronics. There is one mid semester and one end semester Difficulty level of exam not matters here because there is relative grading concept in this college.

Internships Opportunities

Many companies conduct summer internships, particularly for students in their second and third years. These internships typically last 6 to 8 weeks and can provide significant industry exposure. Internship opportunities is gradually increasing here in recently years .

Placement Experience

Here placement is descent more good than other IIIT's. And its gradually increasing in upcoming years. Here average package is slightly lower this year due to recession but it's good than most of IIIT's. Average package 12.70 lakh.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure of our college is 16.50 lakh approx for 4 years to general category students. There are various scholarship schemes which are present in national scholarship portal (NSP) all these schemes are valid here . And there are other many merit cum scholarship test, financial aid for SC ST students which will be known when you will come here by our college authority. There is no management quota.

Campus Life

There are two fest happened in a year named APOORV and DHRUVA. There is an intra sports meet named PRADHVA. There is an inter IIIT sports meet happened single time in a year. And many more fest, events are happened. There are various clubs present here.

Hostel Facilities

Here hostel food are mix of south Indian and north indian. but it is same as other government colleges repetitive that's why it becomes bad taste from time to time. Hostel room is compulsory here. 1st year hostel outside of the campus and after that you will inside the campus.

Hostel Fee: INR 610000 per year

Admission

IIIT Kottayam’s strong focus on computer science and electronics aligns well with the career aspirations of many students interested in technology and engineering. Here admission is totally based on JEE MAINS PERCENTILE. I choose this college over BIT MESRA RANCHI because it is institute of national importance.

Faculty

The faculty at IIIT Kottayam generally receive positive feedback from students, but like any institute, there are both strengths and areas for improvement. There are some faculties which are good and some faculties are not good like other institute of national importance colleges.

Life at CET

Placement Experience:

The placement cell of the college is very active. You can get internships starting 2nd year and placements starting 3rd year. About 75% of people get placed. Many MNCs like Texas Instruments are consistent hirers. The highest package of 2025 for my course is 1 crpa. The average is about 7 lpa. A student can get 5,6 offers. I plan on higher studies abroad because I want to learn more in-depth about the course.

Students are eligible for placement from the 7th semester and internship from 3rd semester. You can apply for internship on your own right from first semester but college gives aid from 3rd semester. The major recruiter is ISRO which offers 40-45 jobs for aerospace engineering. Also other companies like CDac Airbus Boeing and DRDO and HAL visit for recruitment. Nearly 85-90% students get placed while some opt for Higher education and research too. My primary goal is to get into ISRO also I will be preparing for gate examination to complete my IIT dream.

Remarks:

I only have postive thoughts about that campus. The campus helped me to remove my pre-occupations, inhibitions, fear etc. It gave a lot of memorable moments, large number of friends. The most special thing about the college is those memorable friendships with the faculties whos understand students very well.

The college has a very attractive campus and it is very new so the facilities are also relatively new. no placements but good to explore your interests
