Placement and alumini: the institute has an immense alumini network along with the placement cell which attracts the top high paying companies ensuring good job opportunities for the students.it also enables research and further studies.
I appreciate nitc's commitment to academic excellence, with a strong faculty and diverse range of courses that provide a well-rounded education.
I like the cultural fests like festivals being celebrated here which is very nice .

Dislikes

In nit calicut gym was not free we want pay for it this thing i really hatred
Fees are very high when we compared to other nits nit calicut collecting more fees which becoming heavy burden to poor students like me they don't even giving concession most of the people are not getting scholarships
Our hostels are too old and actually it is alloted for 3 people but they are keeping 4 people in a room wash rooms are also not so good.

My experiences in Nitc

Likes

I liked the campus and also the infrastructure
I liked the sports facilities and clubs in the college

Dislikes

The hostel facilities did not reach my expectations

Curriculum is also good in Nitc.Students will not face much pressure as far as academics are concerned and students can score good if they manage their academics along with other co curricular activites.

Review of NIT Calicut by chemical engineering student

Likes

The college is fully with trees which makes it lush green.
The infrastructure is also quite nice which balances the environment.
Sports facilities is nice with well trained coach in every sport

Dislikes

The food is neither spicy nor delicious in the messes alloted to 1st year students
Lab equipments are very old in some branches
Language barrier is observed in students

Placement Experience:

The placements are quite decent in chemical engineering. Both core and non core companies are hiring Chemical engineering students, which is quite a good point. The highest package was 64LPA from CSE. Average package is 11 to 14LPA.

THE PARADISE

Likes

One of the biggest South Indian cultural fest ragam and techno fest tathva are my favorite. my fa
Games & Sports they gave equal importance as studies and best thing is for every sports there is a individual coach.
A lush greenery campus with so many places to chill.

Dislikes

I didn't like infrastructure buildings are too old.
For 1st year students classes are good but from 2nd yera onwards classes are ok ok.
Mess food is bad for other state people .

Placement Experience:

In Tier one Engineering Colleges list NIT Calicut is one of them .We know there are good placement for tier one engineering colleges. Students can sit for placements from 3rd year i.e from 6 th semester. Top Recruiters are companies visited in last four years TATA,HP, ORACLE, DELOITTE, RELIENCE, ADITHYA BIRLA GROUP and etc.. in evey year about 75% to 85% Students are get placed . Highest package in 2024:47LPA Average:13LPA Median:9.5LPA

Life at NIT Calicut

Likes

My college's climate is very good . It is full of greenary. Green everywhere .
Here the curriculum is different from other nits like they started the core from the first year onwards
Here the people form kerala were good and humble (faculty)

Dislikes

As it is old college the building were old and no lifts are available
Boys to girls ratio is very less here , In our class there are total of 50 students there are only 6 girls rest of them are boys

Placement Experience:

Previously before Covid the placements in this college were good for every department. After Covid like due the recission, the college placements were so bad compared to the previous ones . Also due to some faculty changes has an impact on this

NIT Calicut review

Likes

I liked the campus environment. It is filled with trees and has a good architecture.
The campus life is very nice here because of it's location. There are many beautiful places to visit nearby
The learning facilities like libraries and classes are nice

Dislikes

We can't use cycles in the college because of more ups and downs of roads inside the campus
The electrical lab have to be developed a bit
Some technical clubs have to be improved and opportunities to join should be more

Placement Experience:

This college has amazing placement opportunities for every branches. An average of 94% of students gets placed every year. The average package is around 10 to 14 LPA(Including all branches). Last year, over 190 companies visited for placements.

Likes

Good faculty and good facilities for a child education
Having all round enjoyment both in studies and extra curricular
Extraordinary sports facilities and other things.

Placement Experience:

Placements in our college are pretty decent students get a lot of offers from various large scale companies and in our programme average package is about 21,00,00 which is very good and about eighty five percent of students get placed.

Experience of a Student studying in NIT Calicut

Likes

Firstly campus is well connected with nature ,campus is full of trees and birds, there are lot of facilities like indoor stadiums, theatre, Auditorium and separate ground for each sport.
When it comes to teaching staff they are very friendly and open to everyone.
There will be 2 big event in a year and some small regional fests

Dislikes

The campus is divided into 3 parts, east ,west and central campus.
As the campus is near to the sea level there will be lot of humidity factor
There is no better maintenance in the hostel and mess .

Dislikes

Hostel fees are very high,charging establishment fee of 13 k per sem alonh wth rent
Study pressure is so much.Semesters are tightly packed
No separate class room for physics students

Placement Experience:

From first year itself all are eligible .But placement opportunities are more for btech students .msc students are also selected ,but in physics not much. My plan is to do research. Some of friends from chemistry got 27 lakh placement ,but b tech students are getting more.

Life in NITC

It's really greenery here. surrounded by trees and cleanliness is the key. every corner of this college is very clean. Enough places to explore. the campus is very big and lively. footpath, stone benches and shades are everywhere.
There is always great festivals to explore here. celebration occurs with many cultural activities like Onam. Tatva and Ragam are the most famous celebrations here. there will be singers from bollywood, DJ night and huge stadium.
Faculties are highly qualified here. you will get a really good environment to study here. the placements are there but for mostly tech and engineering students, very less for msc physics. msc chemistry students get more placement.

Dislikes

As I am from odisha there's always a language barrier here in kerala. finding like minded people is very important. i personally found them a bit conservative compared to me in case of travelling and hanging out with friends.
the syllabus is really tough or should say lengthy. they cover a lot in just 2-3 months. 6 months course in 2 months just imagine the pressure. there is no room for preparation for GATE,NET or any other competitive exams.you have to do time managem

Placement Experience:

after completion of 1st year msc or mtech and 4th year btech students are eligible for applying for campus. there will be separate app genskill, which is only for nitc students through which placements will come. we have to fill all our details, CV, qualifications and CGPA and SGPA of all the semesters. then companies will come accroding to your profile. if you are elligle then can apply for that job. they might conduct exam and interview in campus and will select. There rae so many tech companies like Intel and IT software companies, some are start ups, banks like federal union, sometimes coaching centres like Sri chaitanya, teaching jobs and trade related salesman and HR position jobs etc comes. big companies like intel provides 27LPA and some software companies provide 32LPA. At least 6-7 CGPA they require. most of tech students get placed compared to msc students. MSC. chemistry students has high scope as most of the industries ask for chemistry degree. some of my chemistry friends got selected in intel with 27LPA. My plan after completing MSc will be to do a govt. job. I ve already applied for some govt jobs and also for some placements in genskill. I have no interest in doing research but most of my friends going for research.

Nit Calicut, Worth it?

First thing i like the most is the events here. There were a lot of events and fests happening here. And some of them are very nicely done.
The environment here is the thing i like next. As the campus is in hilly regions of kerala there are many view points and waterfalls near the college. And also it is somewhat close to the city rather than many iits and nits
The academic time table is very good. There is no much pressure on academics and the schedule is too smooth to carry on.

Dislikes

The first thing i doesn't like is ragging. As it is not for all of them people of andhra and telangana face these ragging more often. As i am from Andhra i faced many ragging problems in my 1st sem at sometime i was so depressed because of it.
The second thing is the money they collect for the fests. As it is a student governance thing, the students collect more money for every event and fest and some claim that there is some kind of scam going on these fund collection.
The academics is smooth but not great there is no large magical figures for annual packages here.

Placement Experience:

There are campus placements available here but it does not have a great magical figures. The highest package last year was some 50 lakh. And the jobs were offered to most of the people in top branches only there are no good placements for the other branches. Though the median and highest qre very low compared to other nits. There is 10 to 12 lakh median salary for the students belonging to cse, ece and eee. But the highest package of ece and eee is 30 lakh only.

What is your review of the National Institute of Technology Calicut?

My sister completed her B.Tech from NIT Calicut a few years back. As a female student, she had a bitter experience at this college. Here are some of the things that she noticed during her stay at NIT Calicut-

The girls hostel is very strict regarding outings. There is a fixed curfew from 7 pm to 6 am. Even for staying on campus after 7 pm, special permission is required.
There are instances where you might encounter racism in the most casual manner, this is especially true for North Indian students.
The hostel and college staff are blatantly partial towards female students and those who complain are told to leave the college.
There is a system of daily roll call for female hostellers, which is again a gender-biased rule. The Resident Tutors are not supportive or helpful and may scold you for not attending the roll call even if you are new and not well aware of the hostel procedures.
During LAN work or other repairs, no female attendee is present with the male workers within the girls hostel premises. The girls are expected to follow all the precautionary measures and no strict rules are laid for the male workers.

NIT Calicut is an institute of national importance with an excellent reputation and great placement records. However, as a female hosteller, my sister faced these obstacles which caused unnecessary frustration for her.
