IIM Bangalore Hostel: Accommodation, Fees, Expenses

Living Expenses:

Option-1: IIMB will help the students with contact details of accommodations / hotels available close to the campus. Expenses per day may range between INR 1600 to INR 3500. Services apartment: Approximately INR.20, 000/- per month, excluding food, for a single occupancy room.

Option-2: Exchange students may be accommodated in the students’ hostel depending upon the availability. Students opting to stay on campus are expected to strictly abide by the hostel rules of IIMB. If students fail to abide by the hostel rules, they will be penalised according to PGP rules.

Sample costs for on-campus housing:	Cost

Students’ mess per month (Veg food)	INR 30000
Students staying off-campus but who wish to eat food at the student Hostel mess are required to deposit the amount at hostel office at the beginning of the program	INR 30000

No costs are involved as the tuition is paid at their home institution.

Other Expenses:

Other expenses including library charges, printing of documents, health insurance, local transportation, etc.

IIMB does not collect any other student fees such as tuition, library/computer/course material, apart from the above expenses. Any expenses incurred on student activities such as printing, photocopy will be borne by the student. All dues have to be cleared before student leave the campus. Students will have to pay fine if they damage or do not return the books taken from the library.

Hostel Facilities:

In the first year, it is compulsory to take hostels, and in the second year, it is optional. The second-year hostel rooms are allotted by a bidding process. The hostels are divided into old and new blocks, old blocks include the original architecture of the college but new rooms are more spacious. Every hostel includes clean washrooms, bathrooms and dustbin cans. There are two messes, an old mess and a new mess. Both serve good food 4 times a day.

IIM Bangalore's flagship MBA program is a residential one. The institute provides single-occupancy rooms for each student, equipped with a bed, table, shelves, wardrobes, and soft boards. Some rooms even have balconies attached. The mess serves 4 meals each day, and the mess menu for the week is shared ahead of time.

The hostel facility is really good. You'll get single-furnished rooms. The hostel is compulsory for PGP1 students and you get in during the time of registration. Facilities like washing machines, geysers, daily cleaning, etc., are available. You don't need to rent a PG.

Food quality is good inside the calls. The menu is changed every week so that students don't get bored due to the change in menu. Non-veg is served 3-4 times a week. Some of them are extras so you have to pay for them.

Restrictions from the Admin office in terms of guest visits and non-availability of accommodation for parents visit.
Sometimes, it could appear too hectic

Hostels vary based on the block one is allotted. There are blocks from A-Q. Old blocks have comparatively smaller rooms and the latest ones have larger spaces with balconies. Every room has a table, chair, mirror, cupboard, bed, and mattress. There is a washroom for every 8 rooms. Food quality is good with unlimited quantity. Hostels are allocated at the start of the year. One can avail of off-campus rooms as well, but no one would prefer this option.

IIM Bangalore hostel room rent is INR 20 thousand. It does not include mess food. The Mess charges are to be paid seperately which is INR 30 thousand. The student staying off the campus but wants to eat in hostel mess also have to pay INR 30 thousand.
