IIT Dhanbad an engineering institute

Likes

I like the the facilities provide for support our education.
I am like our college infrastructure like heritage building and penman auditorium
I like the sports facilities in my college

Dislikes

Some of the Courses which includes drawning.
Refund system of college for each event.
Exam schedule are also very uneven and less gap between exams

Placements of our college are good and almost 80%. Other students are go for higher studies and some students go for research field So almost 90 to95 % students are well settled My plan after getting degree is to join the PSUs.

When a commerce student takes science and crack IIT

Likes

Cleanliness and the opportunity here with the help of various clubs
Sports being encouraged and regular tournament
No restriction on talking to opposite gender ,boys girls ratio being 3:1

Dislikes

There are no vehicles allowed for students
No proper guide for placement,we have to figure out with the help of senior
Mess food not being good and easy access to alcohol and cigarette

In my course,average package is around 29 LPA My course being of 5 years,I will be eligible for placement in 9 th semester which PPO is the other option during internship.Lot of company come for placement like Google, microsoft,etc.

Reflections on my college journey

Likes

college campus is quite big and there is lot of greenery in the campus that I liked the most but there is lft out area which can be utilized to their best extent
social interactions between seniors and junior is quite good as seniors are always ready to help their juniors.
campus infrastructure is quite good and resembles of old fashioned design.

Dislikes

Some faculties can be changed or they should change their ways of teaching.
the girls to boys ratio is quite less almost for four boys there is one boy.
No of cafes and restaurants can be increased in the campus and there is a lot of restrictions for entry in the campus for boys and girls especially for the girls that can be reduced to some extent.

Placement Experience:

from 7th semester students become eligible for campus placements. companies like google,microsoft,bny mellon,texas instruments ,vedanta ,ongc, cil. the highest package is 90 lakhs and it was offerd for amazon as a machine learning engineer. almost 80 percent is the placement rate. my plan is to prepare for the government exams after getting placed in the college.

Likes

The cleaniness of campus and the proper greenery leading to peace
Seniors are very much helpful and the bond between senior and junior is very pure
the new hostels are very comfortable and good

Dislikes

very less restriction of irrelugar vehicles are there
library is not 24 hours open .......the timing should be increase
campus in time is also 10 which i dont like

Course Curriculum Overview:

the curriculum is not that much satisfiying but what can we do ...we have to follow the curriculum ....in iits we get to know about several life hacks and life realities ....they make sure after fighting iit life you can conquer anything ....the papers are continously there are no long break between mid sem or end sems

The legacy that inspires future ~IIT ISM DHANBAD

Likes

Personally i like the campus of mine college. The greenery and the buildings. The infrastructure of pur college. Since IIT ISM DHANBAD has legacy in education and moreover. 100th century of our college will be in 2026. The legacy of 100 years.
The faculty of our college are highly qualified and they know how to teach complex things in easier way
So in our college in one semester we have 2 exams mid semester and end semester exams also quizzes and practicals labs

Dislikes

I personally disliked the attendance policy of our college.(75%)
Some professors are very strict. We can not come late in their class.
The exams are relatively tougher. One need to study from the starting of semester.

Placement Experience:

So students after 7th semester becomes eligible for applying for on campus as well as off campus placements in our college. Almost every software as well as core companies come to our college for e.g. google ,amazon, samsung, texas instruments, goldman sachs, axella etc.Almost 80% gets placed on campus. I want to go software side.

Likes

National importance of college along with its curriculum. Also the respect of college in all over india.
Department facilties along with the teaching quality of professors.
Hostel facilities along with excellent peer group.

Dislikes

Old buildings which i personally not like as much.
Many number of departments degrading the quality and average package.
Restriction on timing for going out of hostel or campus.

Campus placement is very good even companies from foreign and all around the world select our college to provide placement to students having good skills and cgpa along with communication skills. In our department around 85-90% get placed on campus with average package of around 24 lakh per annum. Highest package is around 60 lakh for our department. From 7th semester students are eligible to sit in placements. My plan is to get on campus placement.

ISM the college of dreams and success.

Likes

Heritage building of the college and its national importance
The greneery of the college and hostel of the college.
The library ofy college is asias largest technical library.

Dislikes

Poor teaching of professor and their behaviour towards student.
The academic facilities are not good as other college.
They have poor girls to boys ratio in the college.

Placement Experience:

For campus placement student get eligible frim 4th year and can apply offline in 3rd year. In our college more than 500 company comes and make offer to atleast 700 students. The highest package is 59 lakhs and average package is 20 lakhs. I have to do higher studies after my college.

Campus life

Likes

First of all i want to tell you about the faculty members they are chill mostly some have very good knowledge and express their knowledge with great understanding.
The girls and boys ratio is about 1:3 , many of them have their boyfriends.
I have liked the heritage bulding and it is the pride of ism the garden in front of it is also good.

Dislikes

Most of the girls are not too good on comparison to other college.
The culture is not too good specially in fest most of them just want to drink.
All the things are most over average the classroom hostle garden .

Placement Experience:

Placement season is not too good and too bad too. As ot is an iit the preference are given to all of us among others but as you know some low opportunity with respect to higher oits. The two core nranches mining and petro have great Placement season

IIT(ISM) DHANBAD, THE DIAMOND IN THE CITY OF BLACK DIAMONDS.

Likes

The infrastructure provided by the college and the amount of freedom given to each student in building their career.
The constant support from the faculties to ensure that student excel in their field of study.
The amount of greenery inside the campus is unmatched the most green campus after IIT Guwahati.

Dislikes

The hostel foods could have been better and more number of canteens must be there inside the campus.
The main gate of the institute could be rebuild to a better one it's still the same as 1926 if someone drives past the college main gate that person wouldn't know he has crossed an IIT campus.
Unavailability of many city facilities as dhanbad is not a big city like Delhi or Mumbai.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for internships after the 4th semester and are eligible for placement from the 7th semester. The institute is visited by a huge number of companies including the top MNC's that includes Amazon, Microsoft, Nvidia, Meta along with the Indian giants of Tata, ONGC. The season of 2024 placement saw the highest package of 52lpa along with the average package standing at 17lpa. Inspite of the recession in the current session the institute provided placement to almost 75% of the students. After getting the degree I would try for jobs in the PSu sectors including NTPC, BHEL etc.

IIT Dhanbad really worth it

Likes

The college provides a good coding culture and various clubs are there in which students can interact with each other enhancing their knowledge
Sports facilities is very good. Students is equipped with every materials that they require and coaches are also there to assist them
Student to faculty ratio is also very good. So students can share their problem to their teacher directly.

Dislikes

Lab equipments needs to be upgraded, very often I see equipments not working while doing practical
Management is not that good. Students face problem with management issues
Although sports facilities are very good, the institute is not serious regarding its development, they often neglect basic needs of students

Placement Experience:

During the last semester of 4th year Companies visits the college to provide job offers to student Which is around month of December. google, Goldman Sachs, microsoft, uber, amazon, flipkart and many other big tech giant often visits our college. Total offers made till now is around 600 Highest package is around 68 lakh on campus and 1.5 cr off campus. Average package is around 18 lakh. 90% of the students are placed every year from my institute. My plan is to be placed in big tech giant like google.

IIT Dhanbad ranks 15th among the Engineering category by NIRF 2019. It is a much older establishment than IIT Bhubaneswar. The fee structure for BTech in ECE at IIT Dhanbad is 2,30,120 for one year. It Requires a JEE ranking of 3000-10000 for ECE. The ECE department of IIT Dhanbad has seen 60% placement of students with an average annual salary package of 15 lakhs per annum and highest being 39 lakhs per annum. IIT Dhanbad has a total of 332 faculty members who are highly qualified and experienced members. Out of total, 315 members are Ph.D. holders.

IIT Bhubaneswar ranks 17th in the Engineering category by NIRF 2019. It is one of the newer IITs. The students with JEE ranking between 2000-7000 are eligible for Electrical Engineering in IIT Bhubaneswar. IIT Bhubaneswar in 2019 has seen 89% placement in the Civil Engineering Department with an average annual salary package of 11 lakhs per annum, 39 lakhs per annum being the highest. IIT Bhubaneswar has a total of 145 faculty members who are highly qualified and Ph.D. holders. IIT Bhubaneswar has 2 hostels for boys and girls each. It also has Shopping Complex, Healthcare centers, gym, Sports grounds and courts, Common rooms, Media entertainment rooms, ATMs, etc.

Thus, IIT Dhanbad will be a better option to study ECE than Electrical Engineering from IIT Bhubaneswar because, Being one of the oldest established IITs, IIT Dhanbad is known for its quality of education and their campus life. It also has better and more experienced faculty members.
