IIT (ISM) Dhanbad offers an array of scholarships and awards for its students to support them financially and lessen their expenditure. However, there are certain requirements for each scholarship at IIT Palakkad. Some of the popular scholarship schemes offered by the institute are mentioned below.
Merit Cum Means Scholarship:
- No. of Scholarships: 25% of the students admitted.
- Award: Exemption from the payment of tuition fees along with a pocket allowance of INR 800 per month.
- Eligibility: The annual family income should not exceed INR 6 lakhs per annum.
Merit Cum Means Freeship:
- No. of Scholarships: 10% of the students admitted.
- Eligibility: A minimum of 60% marks is required for the students of the 1st year in the qualifying examinations and for renewal of scholarship a GPA of 6.00 in the previous 2 semesters is required.
Budhwanti Mrig Memorial Educational Scholarship (For girl students):
- No. of Scholarships: 10% of the students admitted.
- Award: INR 4000 per month.
- Eligibility: A minimum of 60% marks is required for the students of the 1st year in the qualifying examinations and for renewal of scholarship a GPA of 6.00 in the previous 2 semesters is required.
ISM North American Alumni Scholarship for Mineral \ Earth Science:
- No. of Beneficiaries: 1
- No. of Scholarships: 10% of the students admitted.
- Award: INR 4000 per month.
- Eligibility: A minimum of 60% marks is required for the students of the 1st year in the qualifying examinations and for renewal of scholarship a GPA of 6.00 in the previous 2 semesters is required.
Atlas Copco Scholarship:

- No. of Scholarships: 1
- Award: INR 3000 per month.
- Eligibility: Final year meritorious student of B.Tech in Mining Engineering and the annual family income not exceeding INR 3 lakhs.
Inderjeet and Satyawati Badhwar Scholarship:

- No. of Scholarships: 1
- Award: INR 1000 per month for the consecutive 10 months only.
- Eligibility: Final year student of B.Tech in any Engineering discipline having highest grades along with the annual family income that was not liable to income tax assessment.
S.L. Sehgal Memorial Scholarship:

V.M. Salgaocar Memorial Scholarship:

- Award: INR 1000 per month for the consecutive 10 months only.
- Eligibility: 10th best student of 4th year of the B.Tech (M.E.) program and the annual family income not exceeding INR 2.4 lakhs.
Savitri Sethi Memorial Scholarship:
- No. of Scholarships: 1
- Award: INR 500 per month for the consecutive 10 months only.
- Eligibility: Up to 10th best student of 4th year of the B.Tech program and the annual family income not exceeding INR 75,000.
ISS Scholarship:
- No. of Scholarships: 1
- Award: INR 1500 per month for the consecutive 10 months only.
- Eligibility: Up to 10th best students of final year B.Tech/ M.Sc./M.Tech/MBA along with a minimum GPA of 7.00. Also, the student should have active participation in the ISS Games, Sports, Athletics, Yoga, NSS, NCC, cultural events etc.
OP Jindal Engineering and Management Scholarship:
- No. of Beneficiaries: 4
- No. of Scholarships: 4 (one each student from 1st to 4th year of B.Tech program) and 1 in MBA.
- Award: INR 65,000 per annum per student for Engineering and INR 1,25,000 per annum per student for Management.

Since I belong to EWS category, I recieved tution fee waiver from college so my tution fee become Rs. 00. During josaa counselling, I paid 35000. In my first semester I paid Rs. 19800 which include my hostel fees , and extra all development fees , lab fees. My hostel fees is rs. 18000. For my second semester , I paid Rs. 26,400 which include all my hostel fees and other fees.My general category batchmates have to pay 100000 rs. in each semester.MCM scholarship is also available here in which rs. 6000 is provided to students who have applied for it per semester.

- The course plan of our semesters make our schedule very packed.
- Hostel rooms for first year is very small.
Fees and Financial Aid:
100000 INR is taken as tution fees per semester. Yearly our college takes 200000 INR as tution fees. 18000 INR is taken as mess/hostel fees per semester. Yearly 36000 INR is taken as mess fees. And the rest fees vomed under other fees which include sports fees, health care fees etc. For SC/ST 100% tution fees wavier is given to them and for general and OBC fee wavier is given according to the annual family income of the particular student.

- There are too many clubs for interacting with others which will make a person confident in life.
- We interact with our seniors and alumnis frequently which is very helpful in academics as well as life.
Dislikes
- The academic schedule is too hectic which is bad as one can get very less time for personal growth.
- The hostel rooms are too small according to some of my friends but that is only in first year.
Fees and Financial Aid:
The fees division is on the basis of per semester. We pay a total of 100000 as tution fee per semester, 18000 as mess fees and the others as registration and other miscellaneous charges. Further SC,ST categories have to pay no fees. The fees structure is also divided in the basis of family income. If is less than 1LPA, then your whole fee will be waived off and you will also get some money per semester from the institute as your expenses. This is known as MCM which can be different percent according to income.

The detailed fees structure for sc students is like we don't have to pay for tution fees. Tution fees is zero.then we have to pay for our hostels and mess 28thousand per semester. In a year you have 2 semesters

- Colleges campus is too good and weather of college location is charming through our the year . Also the facilities of classroom are very comfortable and classy.
- College sports facilities are like international level. 2 ground for cricket and athletics one more ground for normal matches. Olympics level basket ball court is there . State level coaches are there in each game .
Dislikes
- Campus is very big so college need to provide free cycle or auto service but they provide payable e riksa
- Since the college located in dhnabda jharkhand, No much option for travelling or enjoying near the campus. Only one two good places are there like fall ,dam etc.
Fees and Financial Aid:
Basically the fees structure of the IIT ISM Dhanbad is 1 lakh per semester is tution fees for general and OBC category. But fir sc/st it is free . Mess fee will be there for every category students it will be around 18000 per semester. Now at time of admission they take 5000 one time payment that is refundable after completion of course . Hostel fees will be 1000 per semester. And for all other facilities like library , lab fees , hostel facilities and sports facilities and others are around 5000 per semester so the fess will be around 1.25 lakh per semester. Now for economically weaker peoples college provide tution fees waiver. If family salary is under 1 lakh per year they provide 100% fee waiver on tution fee . If family income is above 1 lakh but below 5 lakh they provide 66.7% tutuoon fee waiver . After all these if someone need financial support college provide MCM scholarship for those whose family income is below 6 lakh and having cgpa of 6 and above . Many more scholarship are there for economically weaker people so it is easy to study in this college for every people without the burden of fees.

- The hostel rooms are congested in some hostels.
- Regional biases are predominant and most of the faculties and even students hail from west bengal.

At IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, Semester wise fees is charged. For 1st Sem (General) fees: 57850 (inclusive of 39850/- (Tution Fees) + 18000/- (Hostel). Similarly Hostel fees is charged 18000/- inclusive of Mess, Wifi, Accomodation, etc.

Fees and Financial Aid:
The overall fee is around Rs. 1,80,000 (for 2 years in total), yearly 90,000 including academic charges, Tuition fees, Hostel fees, Mess Charges, Admission fees, lab fees, etc. For the SC/ST category, there is no Tuition fee. So their fee is around 74,000 per year. MCM/NSP/State Board scholarships are available for the students.
Fees and Financial Aid:
The year wise tution fee is 200000 and hostel and mess fee is 75000 for first year and 60000 for rest years. The college provide fee waiver of tution fee. 100% fee waiver in tution fee to all SC/ST and other students having family income less than 100000 per annum. Also 2/3rd remission is provided to students having family income less than 500000 per annum. Also merit list based 6000 rupees per semester provided for financial help.
Fees and Financial Aid:
In semester 1 inhave paid over 37000 and in 2nd semester I have paid 27 thousand. Tution fees is not for sc/st students so I have not paid the tution fees, message or hostel fee is about 18000 and the rest one is of for different purposes. Other category students have to pay extra amount as tution fees about 1 lakh. Merit cum scholarship is there for non category students that will make the tution fees off for the students... Or atleast make some percentage of concession.

For 1st sem I paid 1.5lakhs which included josaa councelling fees and 1.2lakhs for 2nd sem. One gets scholarship based on reservation category i.e. SC/ST, EWS and those who have income less than 5lpa gets 100percent fee waiver. So one with these category will not have to pay tuition fees that is 1lakh. For general: Tuition fees: 100000 Hostel fees: 18000 Other charges
