ISM- Dhanbad Review

Likes

Alumni Base is one of the things that's I like the most about the ISM.
Placements are fine enough. With such a less rank, you can get a college that had a legacy of about 100 years
Course curriculum is also relevant and industry level

Dislikes

Sports facilities could be more better so that apart from academic students can learn more
Admin is still of the ISM level. It haven't updated themselves to the level of IIT.

Placement Experience:

Campus placement starts after 7th Semester. Several Companies visited in companies during placement season such as Google, Microsoft, Paytm, PhonePe, Uber, Slice in Tech domain and Tata Steel, JSW Steel, Orica in mining domain. Companies such EXL, ZS associate for the role of data analytics. There are 70% placement in Year 2024 for B.tech due to recession.Generally it is more than 90 %. Total number of Job offer made is 1084. Highest CTC is 51 lpa of Microsoft and average is 13 lpa. I am currently doing Job and after some years I will go for mba

IIT ISM Dhanbad review

Likes

Infrastructure facilities like hostels,library,lecture halls
Faculty are great especially of the earth science branches
Good placement opportunities and can explore different fields

Dislikes

Strict college curriculum especially when you have to pursue your interest
Mess food though manageable but not upto the mark

Placement Experience:

The Campus placements occur at the end the 7th semester from month of December every year. All the major companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon,etc. Visit the campus almost every year. Highest package is around 55lakh for on campus placements. My plan was to join a psu company through GATE

Campus is very good and it's greenery makes its beauty.
There are all facilities available regarding all activities.

Dislikes

The infrastructure is too old that also lowers the beauty of campus
There are many old building which are not in use currently that also a misleading factor.

Placement Experience:

There are both options weather on campus or off campus . The companies came and held interview session after having all test they select the students for job. The highest package recorded in last year was 58 lakhs.

Some Facts

Likes

The greenery in the campus is very fascinating and amazing.
The campus looks very preety in the rainy season , The Central LIbrary is very nice and its facilities make it one if the best libraries
Aquamarine, the newly built hostel is great in terms of its architecture, it is the tallest building in the nearby areas.

Dislikes

The culture of IIT Dhanbad has some points that are not liked by everyone, one of them is the restriction in the dressing of the freshman ,
Proffesors have an upper hand on marking and grading scheme, due to which students find it hard to score well

Placement Experience:

placements are quite decent as the average package of mathematics and computing of last year was nearly 30 lakhs so package of the students of the college are quite good and decent , some students got very high abroad package this year also

Likes

I liked the Security System for students in the campus and the kind of support that each and every guard provide is unmatchable.
The thing that I liked about IIT ISM is that it have specifically lady guards for the security of girls in the hostel.
I also liked the environment of the college that is totally greenish place with high technologies and great infrastructures.

Dislikes

One thing maybe i didn't like that here the Cricket team is not for girls. I tried several times but I didn't get any courage to play.
It is getting hard to thing of something that I have disliked about the college but I found that not every of the classroom have AC only some of them have it.
Another thing that i disliked is the girls hostel is far away from the our daily classroom buildings that's why it's somehow difficult for girls to reach class on time in summers especially.

After the 7th sem we are eligible get placements interviews and OLT rounds. The number the tech companies are high as compared to non tech companies like designing which hire designers. The number of students getting placed is not good actually but if a person is working really hard then it will be great here.

Likes

In our institution, we have experienced and talented faculty
Fests are kinda cool and enjoyable. U may work in core team of the fest .
You can explore your hobbies and work for it as we have clubs regarding it.

Dislikes

Library is not open for 24 hrs. We have hostel in time as well.
75% attendance obviously is very disturbing . Some times medical leaves are also not acceptable.

Placement Experience:

PPO is offered during 3 year of course . There are many companies that visit in this college . Highest package is of 57-60 lac per annum and lowest is around 10 lac per annum . And average package is around 17-18 lac per annum . 80% of students get placed into top companies and some students go for higher studies as well.

Likes

The college has a very large and lush green campus. Some hostels are very big and college also has an innovation centre for startups to grow. The campus life is decent, there are plenty of spots for snacking.
The support provided for career advancements is also pretty good. The infrastructure is good top notch the classes have smart boards and the labs are also well maintained.
The college has a pretty huge strength so there are alot of people to interact with. The professors are highly qualified with pdhs from top colleges and are always ready to help. The placement services are also pretty good for almost all branches.

Dislikes

The college has a little ragging problem which really needs to be improved. The hostel mess is really bad and certain hostels really need improvement.

Placement Experience:

Students start getting campus placements from the 7th semester but students can also get pre placement offers during internships that they can get from 6th semester. Microsoft, Google, Uber, Cognizant, Media.net, Ola, Pizza Hut such companies visited and total number of 628 offers were made. The highest package in the college was of 2cr, the average was 19 lpa. Profiles like SWE, SDE, JDE, Data Scientist, Data Analyst, Product Manager were offered. Around 70% students got placed. My personal plans after getting a degree is to go for placements.

Likes

The culture of the college is very amazing
The sports and academic faculties as well as infrastructure is very good
Their intern and placement are also amazing

Placement Experience:

In semester 7 or 8 students become eligible for campus placement there will be about 150-200 companies visit our campus and about 700-800 offers are availed. There will be 80-90 percentage of students gets placed in our college.

IIT(ISM) Dhanabad is considered as one of the best IIT

Likes

The overall campus life with great infrastructure, faculties and fests
Placements here are great with average lpa of 15 lakh and highest 50 lakh
Academic faculties are well educated from top universities across the globe.

Dislikes

The campus doesn't have a lot of cafeterias and the main canteen is also small.
Our auditorium should atleast accommodate 10,000 people so that is something which needs to be changed.
The college should construct one more lecture hall to accommodate more students as only having one lecture halls create hassles during examinations

Placement Experience:

After you're 4th semester you can sit for internships provided by different companies. Career development centre (CDC) which is our placement cell helps really in this process. Based on interships. Companies often give PPOs to the students. Highest package was 58 lakh per annum with average pacakage of 15 lakh per annum. 90-95% successfully gets placed from our college

It's Worth It

Likes

First of all getting into the dream college is in itself the greatest thing about my college.
The environment is nice and friendly, the seniors and professors are really helpful .
The college being in the center of the city makes everything easily accessible.

Dislikes

All throughout the year we weren't allowed to take our parents to our hostel rooms.
On the first day we had to setup our room all by ourselves.
The lecture hall is very far from girls' hostel.

Placement Experience:

We are given internship oppurtunities by our college by 5th or 6th semester wherein few get PPOs. From 6th and 7th semester studenets become elligible for campus placements. Companoes like Barclays, Amazon, Bosch, Goldman Scahs, JP Morgan, Tata Steel, Cairn Oil and Gas etc. visit our institute for both placement and internship. Highest Package was around 60lacs in Computer Science and Engineering departement domestic. Average package is generally 18-19 lakhs. Every year the college has a good percentage of placements around 82-88 %.

Which one is better, IIT Dhanbad for ECE or IIT Bhubaneswar for electrical?

IIT Dhanbad ranks 15th among the Engineering category by NIRF 2019. It is a much older establishment than IIT Bhubaneswar. The fee structure for BTech in ECE at IIT Dhanbad is 2,30,120 for one year. It Requires a JEE ranking of 3000-10000 for ECE. The ECE department of IIT Dhanbad has seen 60% placement of students with an average annual salary package of 15 lakhs per annum and highest being 39 lakhs per annum. IIT Dhanbad has a total of 332 faculty members who are highly qualified and experienced members. Out of total, 315 members are Ph.D. holders.

IIT Bhubaneswar ranks 17th in the Engineering category by NIRF 2019. It is one of the newer IITs. The students with JEE ranking between 2000-7000 are eligible for Electrical Engineering in IIT Bhubaneswar. IIT Bhubaneswar in 2019 has seen 89% placement in the Civil Engineering Department with an average annual salary package of 11 lakhs per annum, 39 lakhs per annum being the highest. Thus, IIT Dhanbad will be a better option to study ECE than Electrical Engineering from IIT Bhubaneswar because, Being one of the oldest established IITs, IIT Dhanbad is known for its quality of education and their campus life. It also has better and more experienced faculty members.
