All You need to know about IIT(ISM) Dhanbad

Likes

College campus is lushed with greenery and well maintained landscaping
College has a temple inside the campus creating positive vibes
It has a swimming pool where you can swim on daily basis

Dislikes

College has a minimum attendance criteria of 75% and they strictly follow this rule
Won't provide single room for each student in their first three 3years although they get a single occupancy in their final year

Placement Experience:

From the 7th semester onwards students are eligible for campus placements. All tech giant companies like Google, Microsoft, Oracle, Deshaw, Sprinkler, and Atlassian visits our campus. Company Highlights for FT (for 2023 Batch) Total Registrations – 300+ Total no. of Offers - 1154 International Offers – 11 Average package – 16.98 LPA Median package – 15.95 LPA No. of students with greater than 30 LPA - 148 No. of students between 10 to 30 LPA - 642 No. of students between 5 to 10 LPA – 292 These are the stats for a 2023 batch there is a recession you can still see decent numbers here.

IIT ISM Dhanbad - Key Insights

Likes

The course curriculam is pretty well designed.
Campus life is pretty vibrant. Campus life gives you some of the best memories in life.
Peer group is the best. The guidance and tips you get from your seniors is most valuable.

Dislikes

Sometimes the exams schedule gets quite hectic.
College has a minimum 75 percent attendance criteria.

Placement Experience:

The students are eligible for placement in their 7th semester. Companies start conducting online assessments from the month of July and interviews are scheduled in the month of December. Many companies visit our campus for placements including IT companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, etc. and core related companies like Texas Instruments, Jaguar Land Rover, ONGC, etc. The placement stats of 2022 batch and 2023 batch was quite spectacular, the placement season of 2024 batch has taken a hit as this year many companies are not hiring and ones which are hiring, they have also decreased their numbers. Highest package offered is 89 lakhs by Atlassian for the software development profile. Average package is around 16.5 lakhs. By the end of placement season almost 90% students get placed and others opt for higher studies.

The Library in this college I liked most.This Library is the largest eastern India.ndia library

Course Curriculum Overview:

In 1st year there will be no branch wise classes all are combined and distributed into 8 classes.The first four classes will study one syllabus and reminaing four classes will study another syllabus.After that it will be exchanged.

The campus is very active and engaging un every aspect we can say it has a active campus life.
And also the IITDhanbad provides various extracurricular activities and updated facilities
The teachers guide their students in a good manner

Dislikes

The climate is very bad some times due to remote area.
academic pressure among the students sometimes.
avaialability of campus amenities is very less a compared to other iits.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The minerals and Metallurgical engineering program at IIT Dhanbad combines theory with practical applications. It covers mineral processing. extractive metallurgy, and materials science. Student gain hands-on experience throughlabs, projects, and research, preparing for careers in mining and metallurgy.

IIT Dhanbad has a vibrant red coloured campus life.
It has diverse extracurriculars, and wide variety of programs.
the modern infrastructure creates the buzz in the campus.

Dislikes

IIT dhanbad has limited off-campus amenities.
And also the students faces academic pressure.
IIT Dhanbad is located in rural location since it faces lot of remote location challenges.

Placement Experience:

IIT Dhanbad has a strong placement record with top companies recruiting students. If campus placements aren't offered, students oftern pursue higher studies or secure job opportunities through off-campus drives, networking, or internships.

Likes

Clubs and culture of institute is very good and very useful for institute
And course are also good as a wide variety of courses are offered here
Sports and other extra circular activities are also encouraged equally

Dislikes

Infrastructure may be some what satisfactory for some students and its student dependent
Some times examinations are quite difficult to tackle and prepare
Food may be problem some students who are from south states and students from north can adjust with that quite easily

Course Curriculum Overview:

Paasion about electronics lead me to choose this course.simultaneousl labs will be conducted with theory lectures so that we can work on projects and gain hands on experience which is nessesary for industrial work. Examinations are not much frequent, mid and end examinations will be conducted for one semister mid will be in the mid of the semester and end examination will be at the end of the semester. Each exam will be of around 3 hour duration in end examination and 2 hour in mid examination, difficulty level is good some times

Campus opportunities like wide variety of sports facilities.
very good infrastructure with big big hostels
Very well educated professors who also helps students who are interested in research.

Dislikes

nothing to dislike in the college so far

Placement Experience:

From 7 th semester, a student is eligible for placements. Most of high tech companies visit the campus along with core companies too and they provide a decent package ann a good number of students get placed each year with approx 70%.

I liked central library very much , i also like various fests organised at college, Sports facilities.

Dislikes

I disliked the 75 percent attendence rule which is very bad according to me and whole college.

Placement Experience:

Our college placements are very good though aren't that much good in current year because of recession . The average package is 14 lakh per annum . We have to sit for internship opportunities after our second year in month of july and for placements in december after seventh sem . I want to take a good placement and want to start my own start up after 2 , 3 years of placement.

I DISLIKE THE PROFESSOR , THEY ARE THE WORST ENEMY OF YOUR LIFE

Placement Experience:

PRE-FINAL YEARS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR INTERN AND FINAL YEAR FOR PLACEMENTS. MICROSOFT GOLDMAN ORACLE TEXAS ETC AND MANY OTHER COMPANIES VISIT THE COLLEGE. THE HIGHEST PACKAGE IS AROUND 60 LAKHS AND THE AVERAGE IS AROUND 14 LPA. PLACEMENT PERCENT IS HIGH. MY PLAN AFTER GETTING A DEGREE IS TO GETTING PLACED IN A GOOD COMPANY OF CORE.

All about IIT ISM DHANBAD

Likes

The professors and their accessibility, their Keen interest in helping us through out the course.
The activity in SAC such as swimming and gym, meditation classes for relaxation during exams and placement
The health centre and 24*7 availability, the mental health priority by having a separate councellor for the same

Dislikes

The lack of washing machines in hostels, giving us to rely on local laundry services
The water from RO sometimes taste weird which should be checked frequently

Placement Experience:

The M.tech students are eligible for campus placement in 3rd semester. There are numerous companies visiting the campus and most of the students receive employment opportunities. The highest package in my department for m.tech student is 37 lpa by mathworks.more than 80 percent students have received placement for this season till now.

IIT Dhanbad ranks 15th among the Engineering category by NIRF 2019. It is a much older establishment than IIT Bhubaneswar. The fee structure for BTech in ECE at IIT Dhanbad is 2,30,120 for one year. It Requires a JEE ranking of 3000-10000 for ECE. The ECE department of IIT Dhanbad has seen 60% placement of students with an average annual salary package of 15 lakhs per annum and highest being 39 lakhs per annum. IIT Dhanbad has a total of 332 faculty members who are highly qualified and experienced members. Out of total, 315 members are Ph.D. holders.

IIT Bhubaneswar ranks 17th in the Engineering category by NIRF 2019. It is one of the newer IITs. The students with JEE ranking between 2000-7000 are eligible for Electrical Engineering in IIT Bhubaneswar.
