Is it true that IIIT Delhi is very strict, completely academic-oriented, and only people with very high interest in a CSE should only join there?

Academics is the top most priority of IIIT Delhi. Everything else takes a backseat. This may be because it is branded as a research institute. If you wish to pursue research in CSE or complete your MS/Ph.D. from a foreign university, choose IIIT Delhi. Academically, IIITD is comparable to IIT Bombay, IIIT Hyderabad, etc. But don’t choose IIIT Delhi if you are planning for an MBA later on. In this case, you might end up dropping out due to a loss of interest in this course. As for placements, more than 95% of B.Tech CSE students are placed each year. However, very few non-tech companies visit the campus. As ECE receives very few core companies, students from both branches compete against each other for tech jobs. Based on your own priorities and goals, decide whether or not to choose IIITD for your CSE course.

Is CSE at IIIT Delhi really a core CS course or an IT based course?

I am a first-year CSE student at IIIT Delhi. All the related subjects in CSE have more theory than required by an average Computer Engineer. Here are some details on each subject you’ll learn during the 1st and 2nd semesters of this course: 1st semester- System Management: You’ll learn the theory part through video lectures. You’ll learn a lot about concepts like the Anatomy of a recording disk, the difference between file systems, etc. The practical work will include disassembling an electronic device, video presentations, hardware projects, general shell scripting, etc. Intro to Programming: It is a usual programming language course. You’ll learn a lot of theory in it. Digital Circuits: You’ll study theory about the smallest of operations possible in a processor and basic computer architecture. Linear Algebra: It is a math course, but a prerequisite for courses like Image Processing. It includes a lot of theory. 2nd semester- Computer Organization: You’ll learn Computer Architecture in this. The subject is more theoretical and less practical. You won’t have regular labs. But the prescribed book for this subject is pretty good. Data Structures and Algorithms: It is the best subject according to me. You’ll learn concepts, pseudo concepts, time and space complexities in lectures, and actual codes in lab sessions. By describing each subject during the first year of CSE, I tried to resolve your query to some extent. The curriculum will move forward in a similar manner for the remaining years.

Which should my daughter choose, a CSE from IGDTUW or a ECE from NSIT/DTU/IIIT Delhi?

The choice between CSE from IGDTUW and ECE from NSIT/DTU/IIIT depends on the goals of your daughter. If she is planning to pursue higher studies like MS or a Ph.D., then IIIT Delhi is a decent choice as it’s a research-oriented college. But if she is looking for a job, then IIIT Delhi will offer limited opportunities. This is because getting a job in Core ECE companies like Western Digital and Qualcomm is not easy, as these companies prioritize master students. A few talented students do get placed in Software firms. In IIIT Delhi first year is the same for both CSE and ECE during which the students are taught Introduction to Programming, System Management, Computer Organisation, Data Structure, and Digital Circuits. Your chances of placement also depend on your CGPA which should be preferably above 7. IIIT Delhi offers the flexibility to choose the CSE courses, provided that you complete the minimum credits requirement in the last two years of B.Tech for the degree. In all, I feel, that NSIT and DTU will offer great job opportunities because of their brand name but IIIT Delhi will teach you new things and also offer research opportunities So it’s best to go for NSIT or DTU or IIIT Delhi. Choose wisely.

Which is better, CSE or CSAI in IIIT Delhi?

IIIT Delhi offers both electives and mandatory courses. Students are at freedom to make a choice in case of electives while there is no such choice in mandatory courses. Now, the best part of the CSE branch at IIIT Delhi is that it has the maximum elective slots of any other branch. So, students get to choose electives from a wide range of courses like AI Systems Security Design Electronics Economics CSE will offer more academic flexibility than CSAI. CSAI will have some mandatory AI electives which might be beneficial if you are interested in the field. Also, you won’t have to study useless courses and can focus on AI. However, you will be restricted to the AI field, unlike CSE which gives you enough flexibility to pursue the field of your choice. Unless you are certain of your interest in AI, it’s best to choose CSE.

What are IIIT Delhi CSE placements?

Some of the unique clubs are the Science Club, Mountaineering and Hiking Club, Photography, Debate Society, and many more. CSD is a dual degree, meaning you will be awarded two degrees, a B.Tech in CSE and an MS by Research in CSE. It’s a research-oriented course wherein you will have to write research papers and an MS thesis. Students struggle to get their research papers published so the duration of the course isn’t fixed. Some might take more than 5 years to complete this program depending Both programs are similar in terms of the job opportunities they offer and their curriculum. From the third year, CSD students have to take up an extra project every semester 3rd year onwards. DTU offers a very laid-back cap pledge life experience with a minimal workload and a lot of time to pursue your hobbies. There aren’t many restrictions on attendance also. Curriculum: IIIT Delhi is a clear winner in terms of curriculum as it has no extra subjects in the first year. Students are taught coding languages and related assignments from day one and thus prepare students better than their counterparts. Research: IIIT Delhi is a research-oriented institute and has better research facilities, labs, and resources. DTU and NSUT have a similar research culture. Infrastructure: IIIT Delhi is a newly established college so has modern infrastructure, although the campus is small. DTU and NSUT have larger campuses and better sports facilities. Course is updated to the needs of industry.

College tuition fee is much higher than the collages that are providing same benefits.

We have a tuition fee of Rs. 500000 per year and there are scholarship or fee waiver for students that are merit and women under Women STEM programs and are sponsored by certain groups. And we have to pay hostel fees too and other expenses are here that are also high.

IIIT Delhi - The truth nothing else

the curriculum is really hard and not easy to manage

Per semester i pay about 2.5 lakhs so yearly i pay about 5 lakhs. International students pay a lot more and DASA(International students with indian origin) pay a lot too. There are a lot of scholarships available, like UNIQLO, the one where college reimburses some ammount when a studen purchases a laptop.

Reality of IIIT Delhi (is it really a hell hole)

College is getting too expensive even though it's goverment funded

4.5 lakh for first year 4.75 lakh for 2nd year 5 lakh for 3rd year 5.3 lakh for 4th year The few stays same for all students, there isn't any scholarship I know of but there are many schemes for example Uniqlo sponsors many students university charges and give them internship and placement opportunity and other schemes by college as well.

IIITD - pros and cons

Fees structure hike is too much in this college and every year there is 10% increase in fees , but also you can avail for scholarship and can get education loan without collateral upto 20 lakh for the whole course. The scholarship can be availed only to Sc/St students , for lower income class students you can also get scholarship provided by the college but it's been 2 years that they haven't opened the portal due to delay of merit cum means scholarship, so check all information about scholarship before coming to this college if your family income is low.

IIITD student review

Fees for international students are usually 12 lakhs per year. For JEE/Indian students it's usually 4-4.5 lakhs per year without any scholarship. For international students, you need to get above 8.5 CGPA to maintain the scholarship that you got.

Best college through jee mains

The fees of this college are too high which is about 25 lakh for 4 years and from 2 to 3 years government is not launching MCM scholarships because of that college has not launched any scholarships some small scholarships are coming and given to only 2-3 students.

Like the main issue because of which many students refuses to choose IIIT is its fee, for every year we have to pay around 4 lakhs of tuition fee. There are many scholarships for the students, mainly IIIT Delhi scholarship and Govt. of Delhi scholarship
