IIIT Delhi: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 14 Reviews

The college strictly prevents plagiarism in exams and assignments, with challenging exams sometimes difficult even for faculty. Faculty-to-student ratios differ by course, from 30:1 in specialized courses to 150:1 in widely-taken courses. Esteemed professors such as Gaurav Ahuja, Arjun Ray, and Debarka Sengupta contribute to a curriculum updated annually to meet industry standards. The placement rate is nearly 100%, with average packages between 17 to 23.72 lakhs per annum and a median of 18 lakhs.

The highest domestic package is 52 lakhs, and the top international offer reaches 1.8 crores. Over 500 offers are made yearly, with companies like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon recruiting. Placement eligibility begins in the seventh semester, while internships start in the fifth semester, usually requiring a CGPA of 8.0. The 4-year B.Tech tuition fee at IIIT Delhi is approximately 16 to 18 lakhs, increasing annually by 10-15%, with total costs, including hostel fees, around 25 lakhs.

Semester fees are about 2 to 2.15 lakhs, with a yearly hike of 25,000 INR. Scholarships such as the Merit-cum-Mean Financial Assistance offer 25% to 100% fee waivers, although funding for some, like the Delhi government's MCM scheme, has been inconsistent recently. Families earning below 2.5 lakhs receive a 100% fee waiver, while those earning between 2.5-6 lakhs and 6-8 lakhs receive 50% and 25% waivers, respectively. Despite high fees, scholarships like Aspire and Fast Retailing are available, and students are kept informed through regular emails.

IIIT Delhi: 1 Answered Question

Which are the easiest and toughest courses in the history of IIIT-Delhi?

Ashwin Mahajanstudied at Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi (2020)

I am an alumnus of B.Tech CSE from IIIT Delhi. I joined in 2008. These were the two most difficult courses in CSE during my time-

Only 2008 and 2009 batch students got to study under Khushil Saini. He taught Digital Circuits to first-semester students, and Computer Organization to second-semester students. Sir taught at NSUT before joining IIIT Delhi. 12 was the most one could score in Computer Organization, to pass with a D grade. However, some students did manage to score mid-twenties and get a B grade in both faculty subjects. Lab practicals were their saving grace.

But while his marking scheme was so frightening, sir was a very polite person. He addressed us as a friend and was not threatening at all. Then there was the Theory of Computation taught by Dr. Astrid Kiehn. From a class of 60, 26 of us failed his course.

In spite of every hardship, I miss IIIT Delhi since graduating from this college.
