NIT Raipur: Admission 2025, Courses, Fees, Placement, Scholarships, Cutoff

NIT Raipur offers certain unique advantages that make it different from the other NITs. These are-

1. An International Hockey stadium is located in front of it.
2. An International Swimming pool is located adjacent to it.
3. An exclusive local railway station is located at its back.
4. AIIMS is located less than 1 kilometer away from the campus.
5. If you like to watch movies during your free time, GLITZ Cinemas is located just 200 meters away from the campus.
6. This college has been in existence since 1956, so it has a really strong alumni network.
7. NIT Raipur runs 12 UG programs (B.Tech and B.Arch). It has Biomedical Engineering which isn’t found in every other college.

Though NIT Raipur isn’t a top engineering college, it is growing and developing constantly. 

NIT Raipur is a decent college which is developing each year in terms of infrastructure, crowd- quality, etc. 

It hasn’t disclosed the recent branch-wise packages offered to its students. However, for all the courses combined, the average package stood at INR 10.1 LPA last year.

These are some companies that visit the NIT Raipur campus for recruitment- Infoedge, Siemens, Adobe, Barclays, Capgemini, FIAT, Reliance, TATA, SapientNitro, Oracle, Amazon, Samsung, JP Morgan Chase, Cognizant and Wipro. 

NIT Raipur CSE closing rank 2023 (round 6) was 22,413 (open category, home state, gender-neutral seat). However, for female-only seats, it was 30,019. Based on this information, you can figure out the requirements for getting a seat in CSE at NIT Raipur. You can check the ranks in more detail on the JoSAA website. Prepare for your JEE Mains accordingly. 

NIT Raipur is a decent choice for a CSE. You can definitely consider this college.

NIT Raipur has a well-planned infrastructure that is improving with time. Here are a few details on its campus-

1. The main building is well-made, and the campus has multiple gates.
2. The main gate has a very professional look.
3. The campus has greenery all around. Near the college entrance, you’ll find two gardens.
4. Just outside the campus, you’ll find the local railway station (Saraswati Nagar Railway Station).
5. The college laboratories are well maintained. 
6. There are two grounds for sports and NCC. There is an indoor open badminton court, an outdoor basketball/volleyball court, and a gym room.
7. The hotels have the necessary furniture, an indoor badminton court, and table tennis facilities. 
8. Some of the new classrooms have ACs and projectors.
9. There is a common canteen for students and faculty.
10. The campus has a dispensary as well. 

These are some of the key features of NIT Raipur campus. 

The institute released an official statement stating that the academic performance of students will be evaluated through CPI/SPI based on a 10-point scale. The CPI will be multiplied by a factor of 10 to obtain a numerical percentage for calculation.

So, the conversion system from a CGPA to an NIT Raipur percentage is *10.

For instance, your CGPA is 7.2. Then your Percentage will be 7.2 *10+72%

Mining, Metallurgy and Mechanical are the oldest and best branches at NIT Raipur.

I can understand how motivated you feel right now. At this phase of your life, you must be confident that a year’s preparation will land you in a better place. Surely, this can happen with dedication and hardwork. However, many students fall into depression and anxiety a few months after taking a drop year. This affects their performance which can lead to lower scores in the second attempt.

I suggest you take admission into the Mining branch of NIT Raipur and prepare for your JEE Mains side by side. This will require time management and discipline from your side. But you’ll always have your ongoing degree to fall back to, in case things don’t work out. Rest assured that the Mining branch at NIT Raipur is a good option.

I am a student of Mining at NIT Raipur. Based on my experiences, I will share some pros and cons of this branch at my college-

Cons-

1. The curriculum is outdated.
2. The faculty for mining isn’t good, barring very few teachers. You’ll have to rely solely on self study. Also, textbooks aren’t available for most subjects, so you’ll have to study from the ppts/pdfs provided by teachers.
3. Campus placement is very low in core jobs.
4. The college has poor infrastructure. It has poor sports facilities, and limited accommodation in hostels and the college auditorium.
5.  Most mining students don’t have any interest in their branch. Their aim is to crack the CAT/UPSC exam.

Pros-

1. Getting up to 40-50% marks in end semester exams isn’t really difficult. It can be achieved by studying for just 2 days before each exam.
2. You’ll get ample time to participate in college fest, and to explore your interests.

B.Tech Mining Engineering from NIT Raipur is the right choice if you wish to graduate with minimal efforts. Otherwise, I won’t suggest this branch at my college.
