NIT Raipur admission to 41 courses at the UG, PG, and doctoral levels is conducted through national-level entrance examinations. At the UG Level, the institute offers BTech and BArch programs for the duration of 4 and 5 years, respectively. Admission to both UG programs is based on JEE Main scores and JoSAA counseling. The eligible students should register for the JoSAA counseling for their seat allocation after the result declaration of the JEE Main exam. Usually, JOSAA counseling for B.Tech admissions takes place in the month of July/ August. The total course fee for the NIT Raipur B.Tech program is INR 5.49 lakhs.
NIT Raipur also offers admission to PG courses such as M.Tech and M.CA in Applied Geology. NIT Raipur M.Tech Admission 2025
NIT Raipur M.Tech programme is offered in 10 specializations. The program is offered in full-time regular mode for 2 years, except M.Tech in Applied Geology, which is of 3 years duration. As a basic eligibility criterion, candidates should have appeared for B.E./B.Tech in graduation.
NIT Raipur MTech Eligibility and Selection Criteria
- The candidates must have a GATE score from the past 3 years.
- They should have secured 6.5 CGPA or 60% (55% for reserved categories) for the general category in their Bachelor’s degree from any recognized college.
- The CCMT regulates the joint seat allocation for NIT Raipur admission in M.Tech.
- The candidates with having GATE score will be given preference.
How to Apply?
- Register for the GATE exam through the Online Application form.
- Enter personal login with the unique ID and password, and enter personal information (name, date of birth, personal mobile number, parents’ names, parents’ mobile numbers, etc.).

Ques. Does NIT Raipur provide hostel facilities?
Ans: Yes, NIT Raipur has separate hostel facilities for boys and girls with all basic amenities. But hostel allotment is merit-based as there is limited seating. The NIT Raipur hostel has a mess facility, and people who are not able to get accommodation on campus use to go for private hostels around NIT Raipur. This is one of the important issues while the NIT Raipur admission process is going on.
Ques. What are the eligibility criteria for Ph.D. at NIT Raipur?
Ans: National Institute of Technology Raipur provides a three-year full-time Ph.D. course. The candidates appearing should have a master's degree from a well-known university/institute with minimum 60% marks in aggregate. I am currently pursuing 1st year B.tech (CSE) in NIT Raipur. Can I give JEE Mains next year and take admission in another NIT or IIIT?
Yes, you can surely attempt your JEE Mains/Advanced/BITS. Many students do the same. There are (and have been) at least 1 or 2 such students in every batch of NIT Raipur.
But I would advise you not to opt for just any other NIT. Choose an NIT which is at least 5-6 ranks above NIT Raipur. Otherwise, switching to another NIT will prove ineffective. The same goes for IIITs, choose only the old ones.
This is because NIT Raipur offers decent placements for CSE, at par with the NITs of the same stature. So wasting a year for NIT Jamshedpur or NIT Durgapur will be fruitless. If you go for JEE counseling, you’ll have to withdraw from your NIT Raipur seat first. To be on the safe side, go for the counseling only with a score high enough to get you CSE in a better ranking NIT. Otherwise, you might get NIT Raipur once again. This has happened with students in the past.
