NIT Raipur official placement report for 2025 is yet to be published. According to the newest placement report of the academic session 2023–24 provided by NIT Raipur, the maximum offer made was INR 62 LPA and the average one was INR 10.8 LPA. The median UG package during placements of 2024 was seen as INR 8 LPA.

A total of 127 firms visited the campus and extended 778 offers in the placement drive. In comparison with the last year, the highest package went up by close to 13%, while the average package reduced by more than 21%.

In the context of student placements, 672 out of 923 BTech eligible students got placed. In the case of MTech, 23 out of 86 students got placements. At MCA placements, 28 out of 87 students got placed. But in the case of BArch, placements were not good with just 2 out of 49 students getting placed.

Among BTech disciplines, Metallurgical & Materials Engineering and Chemical Engineering had the highest placement percentages at 94.85% and 93.06%, respectively. Other large disciplines like Electrical Engineering (86.32%), Mechanical Engineering (87.88%), Computer Science (80.58%), Civil (63.16%), and ECE (62.89%) also performed well.

Placement Experience:

Placements this year in our college went pretty well. With the highest package beeing 58lakhs in DE SHAW company and 54 lakhs in Google, and soo many high packages. People got into companies like google, amazon, optum, arcesium, texas instruments ,DBOI , Global Hitachi, ZS Associates, Piramal Finance, UKG, Hugoslave Atlas, Tekion, Pinelabs, VISA, SIXT, and so many more companies. Good percentage of people got placed ,like the people who wanted to go for placements were able to get it, people who wanted to do higher studies are preparing for it, some want to go abroad, some wrote GATE and they want to do Mtech, percentage of students getting placed in cse branch would be 85%, in IT department it maybe higher, and in other branches also they got placed so overall very good. Plans after getting a degree from a well known and top tier institute like this would be really good for resume and if they want to do any other jobs then i feel like it will be helpful.

The placement in the CS and IT department of NIT Raipur has seen an upward trend, in recent years.

Placement Statistics:

In the year 2018-19, a total of four students - three from CS and one from IT bagged an offer of INR 32.50 LPA in the campus placement drive.
The average package for these two branches lies between INR 8-10 LPA.
Maximum numbers of offers were bagged by the department of CSE. Which were 82 out of a total of 587 offers made in the year 2019-20. This was followed by the IT department, which received 79 offers.

The students from the CS and IT department who are eligible to sit for the placement i.e. students without any backlogs, easily get placed. For the placement drive of 2019-20, 755 students were eligible out of which 90 were from the CS department and 90 were from the IT department.

Only a handful of companies visiting NIT Raipur allow MCA students to sit for placements. The number is quite low in comparison with the MCA at other NITs. The eligibility criteria put up by companies for placements is 60% (and above) throughout your academic career (10th, 12th, grad and post grad).

After these multiple filtrations, a handful of students are selected on campus. In 2022 however, the figures were quite promising. Out of 70 eligible students, 65 were placed. Various companies visited on campus for placements. In addition, the faculty will also train you to clear the aptitude test and focus mainly on the orientation of the students.
The highest salary package offered was 7 lakh per year for metallurgy in software development, while the lowest was 4 lakh. So, on average, it went from 5 to 6 LPA, which is considered a decent package here in Raipur.
Infosys, Wipro, and Trendence are the top recruiting companies. A total of 5 to 6 out of 50 students are placed in reputed companies of India.

However, if you want to pursue M.Tech in a good college, study well and sit for GATE instead. The department of Metallurgy is famous at NIT Raipur and can help you in getting good scores.

Given your rank of 2900, it would be very difficult to get CSE in these colleges. So you need a lot of luck during the Spot Counseling. If anyone withdraws their admission at the last moment from the CSE branch of these colleges then you might get admission.

What is the average package in NIT Raipur for Mechanical engineering?

As far as the placement reports say, placement for mechanical engineering in NIT Raipur varies in between 70%-80%. Although the placements are not as high as IT/CSE branch when compared with mechanical engineering. But yes, there is a most essential perk of job security in the mechanical engineering branch which most of today’s software companies and startups lack.

Now moving from core to non-core campus visitors in the fields of Software & Analytics for all the branches, the package offered is usually very low around 3.5–5 LPA.

The automobile companies like Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Tata Motors, and Fiatwhich visit NIT Raipur for campus placements all give packages more or less between 5.5–6 LPA.
Vedanta Resources do provide a better package than automobiles but their package includes a large amount of variable pay which depends on individual as well as company performance.
So in the long run they are paid more or less the same as automobile placed people get.
PSUs like Coal India Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) which visit NIT Raipur are among those few ones who actually increase the average by providing a very good pay scale of 10–12 LPA.

Some companies like BPCL AND HPCL have strict rules of allowing only topper of some branches to appear for the placements. Whereas Coal India does not have vacancies for mechanical every year.

Though, the job openings for Mechanical Engineers are always there. This is a reason why Mechanical is called an evergreen branch. Moreover, placements everywhere on the country’s economic situation.

Don't go for placement packages, it may disappoint you. Just keep a good CPI and be conceptually strong, you will surely end up in good companies like Tata and Maruti.
