How do I choose between IIT Delhi engineering physics, civil, production & industrial, and chemical engineering?

I will restrict my answer to Engineering Physics and Chemicals only as I know the same only. The major criterion followed at IIT Delhi by all the branches is a well-maintained CG. To secure good placements one has to constantly score a good CG throughout the program. During your admission, the department does not play any role but your 85 percent constraint on minimum possible strength does. Engineering Physics is a unique branch for those highly passionate about Physics and want to pursue higher studies in the same To secure core jobs, one has to move to MTech in Engineering Physics from BTech in Engineering Physics. For Chemical Engineering students, BTech is more than enough to secure decent packages and great research opportunities outside India. Consultancy and Analytics jobs are offered equally to students of all the departments Engineering Physics graduates usually take up consultancy or IT jobs Chemical Engineering is the most laid-back department of IIT Delhi with very flexible academics thus making it easy to maintain a decent CG throughout. I wouldn’t suggest anyone go for Engineering Physics if they have no intention of pursuing it later. Instead, look for other options in BTech and explore your interests.

Here are some strong points supporting my stance Location : Located in the capital city, IIT Delhi offers great access to coaching institutes for preparation for IAS, IES, GATE, or any other competitive exams. This won’t be possible at IIT Ropar. Reputation: IIT Delhi's Overall ranking by NIRF is 3 out of 200 colleges in India in 2023 while that of IIT Ropar is 33 out of 200 colleges in India in 2023. Reputation: IIT Delhi is not just an institute it’s a brand that every recruiter and student is aware of. Curriculum: IIT Delhi Production and Industrial Engineering has courses similar to Mechanical students so the job opportunities are also similar. Additionally, you can learn some management skills through subjects like industrial engineering subjects Quality control, Operations research, Production planning, and control, etc Placements: IIT Delhi has a track record of excellent placements way better than IIT Ropar. Academics is the thing hated by everyone. Constant quizzes, assignments and exams regardless of your department.
The fee is very high here. It feels like a private college. There is no transparency in mess fee.

The fees for B.Tech depends on the annual family income of the student. If the annual family income is more than ?5 lakhs, then the student is required to pay the full tution fee, that is ?1 lakh per semester. If the annual family income is between ?1 lakh and ? 5 lakhs, the the tution fee is ?33,333 per semester, and if the annual family income is less than ?1 lakh, then there is no tution fee at all. The above is for General, EWS, and OBC-NCL only. The is 0 tution fee for SC and ST students. There are other fees that every student has to pay, regardless of the branch or category. These include hostel fee of ?13,000 per semester, and mess fee of around ?35,000 to ?45,000 per semester. The mess fee in particular is very random and varies from person to person. Every other fees like bus fee, lab fee, hostel gym fee, examination fee, etc. are already included in the hostel fee and tution fee. The fee is more or less constant every year, but also increases in every 3-4 years. There is a security deposit of ?15,000 and a one time fee of ?47,000 was also taken before admission. Also, there are many scholarship opportunities in the college. If your income is less, and you maintain a decent CGPA, you are eligible for merit cum means (MCM) scholarship every semester, that is around ?25,000 every semester. Also, if your GPA is in the top 7% in the college, the also you will get the top 7% scholarship every year. Apart from this, there are several scholarship opportunities for every student in the first year, especially for female students. I believe every second student of our college studies on some scholarship.

You need to manage your time because after all enjoyment we also have quizzes were professor take back the revenge of proxy attendance and missing tutorials.Also if your attendance get below 75 percent in any of the course your grade redue by 1.

The actual fees of iit delhi for candidate having parental income greater than 5 lakh is 2,00,000 per year as tution fee along with 89,200 if u take a hostel accomodation but for the candidate having parental income less than 5 lakh only need to pay 66,000 per year as tution fee along with 89,200 as a fee for hostel accomodation .And also students minority section get the scholarship of 1,000 rupee every month in their bank accounts.Candidate having income less than 1 lakh need to pay 0 tution fee and 89,200 for hostel accomodation.If you score well in your first year you can also avail merit cun scholarship.I think fees is bit increased for general and obc candidates having parental income greater than 5 lakh.but here you can also claim education loan with zero percent interest rate.

So my tuition fee is 100000 per semester and I have a total of 8 semesters apart from it there are other charges too like an examination fee of 1500, gym fees of 1250, internet and computer access fee of 100, medical fees of 750, registration fees of 750, student distress fund scheme of 400, transportation fees of 100 and hostel rent fee of 8600. At the time of admission, there are a few one-time security deposits too, which vary in every admission and can be accessed on the main website of IIT Delhi. For low-income families, i.e. below 5 lakh to 2 lakh, the tuition fee is 33333, and for SC/ST students and people with income less than 1 lakh, the tuition fee is ?0. Though there are ways by which you can avail for fee recession it's not available for all and is given based on merit. More information is present on the internet and the main website of IIT Delhi.

IIT Delhi chill hai

Tution fees that I am paying in this college around 212000 rs per year and there are some other charges like gym,alumni fees, distress fund. If you belong to a lower income family which should be less than 5 lakh then you have to pay 33000 per sem and if less than 1 Lakh then you have to pay 0 rs tution fees. If you belong to SC/ST/PWD then your tuition fees is Zero rs. There is also some scholarship depends on different criteria.

My IIT D experience

the yearly fees varies fot sc , st , gen-ews , obc and so i am a st candidate i have got relief in fees . I have deposited 22400 for 1 semster . We dont have to pay tution fees as we are from category.here all the people fom all category. fess are different for different category.i dont no many names but recently i got to know about-merit cum scholarship they provide 1000 rupees per month.

Very vast coverage of syllabus in courses.
Bad grading at the end of the exams. Proff gives C grade on avg.

Yearly fees depends diffferntly on different categories like a general or OBC guy would pay 250000 a year including hostel mess fees. If they have a income between 1 to 5 lpa then the tuition fees will become 66% of 1 lac a semester and sc/st doesnt have to pay tuition fees and have to pay all other fees.

Academic pressure is so high here that you have to work day night to keep yourself going

The tution fees is 1 lakh per semester and other charges are lib, Gymkhana, hospital, transport etc services which is around 5000. This fees is for gen and obc while sc st candidates don't have to pay the tution fees . The college provides scholarships

It's a highly stressful environment for people in non circuital branches. Managing academics is one of the primary goals over here.

There a lot of scholarships available. You can check them on the website itself. Some are provided by the alumni itself. The tution fees is around 1 lakh and it's a government college. There is an SBI branch where you can avail education loans at low interest.

The Curriculum, Particularly the courses taught in the first year

Yes, there's an increase in the tuition fees regularly like in a year or 2. The rate of hike depends on how time the fee is increased if the fee is increased last then the rate of hike is very low. The total expenditure if u are doing B-Tech and residing in a hostel costs you upto 14-15 lakh for the complete course. There are so many scholarships given to a student on the basis of their JEE advanced rank and their current CGPA. I have not undertaken any campus employment yet. but yes, I am planning for it. and yes there's also a good stipend amount for the M-Tech and research students.
