PEC- A complete overview

Likes

Academic Environment: This college offers good academic structure with variety of non tech as well as humanities courses along with obviously core courses.
Placements and Internships: PEC offers great curriculum and reserved the 6th semester for internships and companies come to college in 5th as well as 7th and 8th semester for internships and placements offering more time opportunities to students.
Proximity to city: Situated in the heart of the city, Chandigarh itself is a very beautiful and lively city. You will enjoy your 4 years alot in the campus as well as outing.

Dislikes

Infrastructure: Since its very old college and had a great legacy, but some areas of college and some departments need renovation and new equipments though a large number of renovations are going on.
Management: The whole power lies in the hands of director and dean and keeping in time for hostels doesn't justify the right to freedom and there is a monopoly of power in the hands of deans.
Girls to boys ratio: since it is an engineering college you can't expect equal number of boys and girls. The ratio generally lies between approximately 1:8 for girls to boys.

Placement Experience:

PEC offers a good amount of on-campus companies which provide internships and placements. From 6th semester students become eligible for internships and placements. This provides an edge to students of pec compared to other colleges as they have more time to get placed. Various companies like Microsoft, Google, Uber, DE SHAW, phonepe, Natwest, Amdocs, Cisco, and a number of others companies make over overall 600+ offers. The highest package is offered by Microsoft of 54 lakhs and Uber offers the highest paid internship for 2lakh per month.

Punjab engineering college

The curriculum of the college is upto date and updates regularly to bring out the best quality education for students.
Faculty and staff are very supportive if you want to work on your personal projects then also they will help you out
The coding culture of the college is the most important attribute that gives us an upper hand over other colleges.

Dislikes

Student parking is very much distant from the premises, we have to walk 1-1.5 km just tmfrim the parking to our classes
The college is very strict in terms of attendance, so we get very less time to focus on other things.
The infrastructure of the college is not that much good sometimes the equipment fails to work on time and is also outdated as per today's time

Course Curriculum Overview:

The relevance of the course matches the industry needs but is not that efficient to help you crack a good package. For example, we have to study the web development on our own there is no subject which let us learn about web dev.

The placements of my college are really great . The average package for computer science and engineering is about 19 laks per annum. Big companies like Microsoft come to hire students from our college.highest package for 2023 was 80 LPA.

PEC Chandigarh: A balanced review on its Pros and Cons

Likes

The crowd is brilliant for circuital branches and seniors are helpful and ready to support always. There is market in pec of stationery,juices,fruits,fast food as well as meals.There is Nescafe canteen and one more campus cafe providing coffees drink
Many different clubs and socities including technical and cultural. Strong Alumni network spreading all over world. Many grounds like of cricket,football also there is gym library swimming pool, basketball court, volleyball court,Table tennis court.
Placements are good provided you do hard work.Good course like communication which improves your communication skill and remove stage fear. Internships and PPOs are good . Most reputed college in North India is Punjab engineering college, Chandigarh.

Dislikes

Infrastructure is very poor as this college is not funded by central government. 1st year teachers are boring. You just have to do everything by yourself. Bad crowd in non circuital branches
Drugs and beer vines are common. No AC in non circuital branches. Lack of funding. Like others college they just follow old curriculum.
Hostels condition are not good. Hostel fees are also high. Wifi just disconnects always . Boys to girls ratio are poor like In cse its 1:10 and little good from this in other branches

Placement Experience:

For campus placement students can involve in 7th semester also many students got their PPOs in 6th semester as well. There are many reputed companies visited in PEC like Apple, Microsoft,Adobe,JP Morgan,Goldman Sachs,Amazon etc.Highest package this year was around 58LPA on-campus while average of all branch turns into around 14.33LPA.Overall more than 50 percent students got placed in all batch while around 80 percent placed in CSE due to recession. My plan is to get a decent package after the degree or during my 4th year.

Big playgrounds to play and PECFEST is pretty amazing
The teachers are pretty cooperative and patient

I didn’t like the infrastructure of the college
Hostels are not good, they are old and not renovated
College campus size is less 150 acre less shops in market

Placement Experience:

In third year students become eligible for internship opportunities and in the fourth year they are eligible for on campus opportunities. Internship is done in 6th semester of the college. Highest package last year was 55 lakh.

Likes

I liked the environment of the college. People are really friendly
Placement are good. Median package is around 17 lakh
There are lot co curricular activities also which leads to overall child development

Dislikes

Staff is not so good. They take extra classes and non of the things they explain are clear
Hostel conditions are not at all good especially for boys
College infrastructure is poor and that's why nirf ranking is low

Placement Experience:

Campus placements are really good if the college as I previously mentioned . They are really good from 7th semester companies start coming . But interns are hired in 5th sem only . There is a good percentage of students getting placed around (60%). Highest package was around 84 lacs and avarage package is around 17 lacks good package

An honest review of my college

Likes

I liked the technical societies and cultural clubs of the college where students can learn much more than studies.
I liked the infrastructure of the college and the college is continuously making changes in the infrastructure.
I liked the faculty of the college because they are highly skilled and supportive.

Dislikes

The hostels of the college are not up to the mark and can be improved.
The market of the college is quite unorganised and can be improved.
The food provided in the mess is also not good and doesn't match quality standards.

Placement Experience:

The placement rate in the college is good. The placements start in the seventh semester for 4th year students. Some of the big companies that have visited the college are MIcrosoft, Goldman Sachs and DE Shaw and there were 10 offers made by the companies on an average. The highest package is provided for the Software Engineer role. The percentage of students getting placed is around 70%.
