Hostel Facilities:

Our hostel has provided us a really small room and that too is shared by 2 students. The hostels are not ever clean, meal quality is really bad, its basically survival here. The hostel fees given for accommodation clearly didn't go to the place it should've.

hostels are poor in the facilities . they only offer a common wifi , fan , basic lighting , balconies and a mess facility . menu is good but meal quality is average . fees is around 75000 rs per year and 4350 for mess per month .

Hostel Facilities:

Hostel are not that good, very old building are there and very small hostel are there in college. Facilities of the college hostel are decent you will get hot water for bath but in few bathroom, and can give clothes to wash for free but will get back in 4-5 day's. PG can be taken but they are a bit expensive. The whole is that once you start to live here u get used to it then start enjoying the hostel Life letting back all the inconvenience you get in hostel facilities and also hostel fines are too heavy.

Hostel Facilities:

The hostel costs 75000 rs each year . which is much expensive comparing to the facilities given . the hostels for 1st years are old and small , each room having 2 beds , 2 almirah for 2 students , and 2 study table . Meal quality is good enough . in menu it mainly includes north Indian food such as rice , roti , paratha , different curries , egg , chicken , veggies , fruits , cornflakes , bread , puri sabzi etc etc . Registration for hostel is done during offline accomodation . The money has to Drafted from your account to the warden's . I wont say the hostels are that much of affordable . The bathrooms are all clean , but they dont have washing machine . so you gotta do some work there

In first year double sharing rooms are provide with fan,lights,2 chairs and 1 table and 2 beds with almirah provide in the room. From second year single room is also provided. Mess meal quality is decent not very good but is is eatable nothing can beat home cooked food. Registration of hostel is done in hostel only , shivalik hostel is provided in first year. There are many local PGs nearby like sector 15 or sector 11 if you don't want to stay in hostel.

The entire campus of PEC Chandigarh is provided with high-speed wifi connectivity. There are occasional crashes in connectivity, which are repaired by the institute, but with a little longer time.
The hostels in PEC have two and three shared rooms, as there is an increasing number of students in subsequent years. The Shivalik hostel has both kinds of rooms, but the size of rooms with three-shared accommodation is larger.
The room facilities in PEC are quite comfortable and so, it is not a problem to stay in shared rooms at the hostel. There is a newly constructed block in Shivalik which would ease the accommodation of students further.
The girl’s hostel has three and four sharing rooms, and it is somewhat uncomfortable to stay in those rooms.

Although students may be told that they won't get a hostel in earlier stages after waiting for a few days the students in the Chandigarh quota can get a hostel in PEC. But there is some process that needs to be completed in order to get a hostel in PEC.

You have to submit an application to the hostel warden and you have to mention your reason clearly, why do you need a hostel after being from Chandigarh as they don't provide hostel facilities to the students belonging from Tricity (Mohali, Chandigarh & Panchkula).

But the first preference is always given to the students who are taking admission through all India quota and they are allotted the hostel rooms first. But after a few weeks from their allotment of hostel rooms, the students in the Chandigarh quota who have applied and submitted an application will get the hostel rooms.

One of my friends lives in the PEC Chandigarh hostel, so I can give you basic information every hostler there may know.

Locals: If you are local, then you have to wait a bit to get a hostel. Approximately it takes 2 weeks of time to allot rooms to locals. You also have to submit a written application to DSA with attached address proof.
Room: Every first-year student has to share his room with another fresher. After the first year, students are eligible to stay in a single room.
Mess: The food quality of the hostel mess is not worth the fees you pay for it. On special days or occasions, special meals are served to the students, which is of good quality as compared to normal days.
Electricity and Water: Hostel has a good supply of electricity and water. So, students don’t have to worry about it.
Hostel Timings: There is no restriction of timing in the hostel. You can go out of the hostel and can come back at any time.
Laundry: Every student gets laundry service at the hostel. But laundry allowance is not included in hostel fees, so students have to pay separately for it. Also, avoid giving expensive clothes in the laundry, as it might get ruined.
Wifi: The campus has Wifi connectivity around the campus. It faces some network problems, but its speed is good.
Cleanness: Hostels are not clean and tidy, neither the washrooms and toilets. Except, the newly constructed building, Shivalik C Block, which is clean. It is better that you keep your room clean, though.
Ragging: There is no ragging at the hostel campus. You will have an introductory session with seniors both in college and a hostel. The introduction is done with a few fun activities so that freshers easily get to mingle with seniors.

Therefore, hostel life at Punjab Engineering College is overall good. Apart from this, freshers also get hostel parties besides college fresher’s parties. So, the overall experience of PEC is good.

Yes, you can get a hostel at PEC University if you live in Chandigarh. But Punjab Engineering College has its own procedure to allot hostels to students.

As per University procedure, firstly University will allot hostel rooms to students living outside Chandigarh.
The remaining seats after the allotment will later be given to waiting list students including locals and students with Chandigarh Quota.
PEC has huge hostel promises and enough rooms for students. You do not need to worry about not getting the seats. One of my cousins who is a local is also staying in the PEC hostel.

There are good indoor game facilities like Table Tennis, Carrom, etc. The institute also has various hostel clubs.
The washrooms of the hostel are not clean and the condition is very bad, which is a major drawback. The washrooms are only good at the Shivalik hostel.
Also, per room, there will be one fan provided. Although you can secretly use a cooler for the 4 years of your stay.

The chances are very bleak and almost non-existent.

Nowadays, PEC is going through a space crunch, since the number of seats has been increased by a large amount in recent years. Authorities give top priority to students from outside the Chandigarh quota.

New hostels are being considered and Shivalik Hostel was recently expanded into a new block, the lack of rooms to house all of the students comfortably is still a sore point. The number of seats has increased but hostel capacity remained the same.

Hence, by chance, if Hostels do not get filled up completely, you can definitely get a hostel at PEC. So, unless a new batch of students shows a great reduction in hostlers, you should not expect to get accommodations in the hostel.

Yes, there are sepearte hostel facilities available for boys and girls in PEC Chandigarh. The hostel fee is INR 62 thousand per year. The Mess advance charges are INR 3,500. The maintainence charges are INR 10 thousand per year. There is refundabale security amount paid only for one time which is INR 6 thousand. The overall hostel expenses is INR 81,100.
