Likes

Academic Environment: This college offers good academic structure with variety of non tech as well as humanities courses along with obviously core courses.
Placements and Internships: PEC offers great curriculum and reserved the 6th semester for internships and companies come to college in 5th as well as 7th and 8th semester for internships and placements offering more time opportunities to students.
Proximity to city: Situated in the heart of the city, Chandigarh itself is a very beautiful and lively city. You will enjoy your 4 years alot in the campus as well as outing.

Dislikes

Infrastructure: Since its very old college and had a great legacy, but some areas of college and some departments need renovation and new equipments though a large number of renovations are going on.
Management: The whole power lies in the hands of director and dean and keeping in time for hostels doesn't justify the right to freedom and there is a monopoly of power in the hands of deans.
Girls to boys ratio: since it is an engineering college you can't expect equal number of boys and girls. The ratio generally lies between approximately 1:8 for girls to boys.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum is very inclined towards the growth of the student's career. Students are taught core courses required in the industries and those who don't want to join corporate and go for higher studies or any start-up idea there is provision for that also and relevant courses are present which students can choose as open electives and help them out. Some improvements can be made in the teaching style and proper guidance in labs and classes rather than giving whole responsibility to students for self study.

Internships Opportunities

As told eariler, pour college starts internship cycle in 5th semester for a internship break in 6th semester. A number of tier 0 , tier fantasy companies like Microsoft, Salesforce, Google, JP Morgan, Natwest< Amex visits our campus all with their respective stipends averaging about 1 lakh.

Placement Experience

PEC offers a good amount of on-campus companies which provide internships and placements. From 6th semester students become eligible for internships and placements. This provides an edge to students of pec compared to other colleges as they have more time to get placed. Various companies like Microsoft, Google, Uber, DE SHAW, phonepe, Natwest, Amdocs, Cisco, and a number of others companies make over overall 600+ offers. The highest package is offered by Microsoft of 54 lakhs and Uber offers the highest paid internship for 2lakh per month.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure of Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh can vary depending on the category you belong to and whether you have received any scholarships or financial aid. The recent Fee structure for the general category is tuition fee: 100000 development fees: 20000 Registration fees: 1500 Caution fees: 5000 Other charges: 10000 and this fees increases by 10% for every new batch but is same for a particular batch for all 8 semesters.

Campus Life

The college offers a number a technical as well as cultural societies and clubs for social engagement among the students and to pursue their hobbies and explore their inner talents. A well-established 3-floor library with over 400+ seats available to students to study and read. Several sports teams for different sports are present which compete in intercollege games and win prizes.

Hostel Facilities

Hostels are provided to every year student and different hostels are made for every year to prevent ragging. Hostel rooms provide a bed, fan, light, and almirah necessities in the room. There is also a facility of laundry. Meals provided in the mess include a variety of food for everyone and good quality food is provided. If you don't want to live in hostel you can easily get a room or pg in sector 11 or sector 15 or nayagaon which are very close areas to the college.

Admission

I was very clear from the start that I wanted to pursue BTech in the CSE branch only no matter which college I got into. Based on my rank in jee mains I had 3-4 options among the best colleges in north India. Various colleges I applied to are DTU, NSUT, IIIT DELHI, NIT JALANDHAR, PEC. However I choose PEC because of its culture and placement stats. Moreover, it was close to my city making it easy for me to travel. Due to reservations in Delhi colleges, I couldn't get cse there. this was also a reason I choose pec.

Faculty

Faculty-to-student ratio: This ratio varies from one department to other.In branches like CSE, ECE , the ratio is more balanced but the branches where the intake is more will have less teachers. On an average, the ratio could range from 1:15 to 1:20. In CSE, Sanjeev sofat Sir, Rajesh Bhatia Sir, Trilok Chand Sir and Padmavati mam are senior level teachers and very experienced and knowledgeful and are always ready help the students. In PEC, the examinations curriculum includes two exams in 1 semester mid seems and end seems. Also there are a number of quizzes and lab evaluations and assignments which have their respective weightages.

Punjab Engineering College through an Unfiltered lens .

Placement Experience:

placement stats of my college is great. Better than most of the colleges out there . Even better than many NITs and IIITs , with an avg package of 14-16 LPA . And every year the Median and Avg package is increasing . Highest package till now - 83 LPA . Students are allowed for campus placements after 5th semister All the big companies out there , from Google , microsoft , amazon to Delloete , JP Morgan , AmericanExpress , to seimens, oracle , L&T , all companies come here . around 70-75% students gets placed from here My plan is to get the highest paying job offer possible for me , that's it .

PEC is great choice

Placement Experience:

placements from rti report placement percentage is over 75 + and in ee its 74 percent cse 93 and ece 84 percent avg for cse is 18 lakhs and ece is 16 lakhs ee its 14 lakh and other branches have 8 10 lakh avg but the placemnt percentage in mechncial is 70 percent other branches like civil production have a little less percentage of placements but they have opportunities in college

PEC: where engineering meets opportunity

Placement Experience:

The students become eligible for placements after their sixth semester. Many companies visit PEC some of the top recruiters are Uber,Microsoft,JP Morgan,Goldman Sachs,Texas Instruments,Cisco,American Express and many more. This year the highest package was 61 lpa given to 3 students from circuital branches,6 students received offer of 52 lpa. The average CTC was 13.6 lpa and specifically about ECE it was 15.6 lpa. 456 out of 694 students were placed which is a placement rate of 65.7% including PPOs from companies. My plans would be to get placed with a good package .

Its more than an average decent college you can surely come here.

Placement Experience:

You can appear for placements starting from 7th semester onwards plus you can apply yourself as well to various off-campus opportunities. The companies which visit are decent i would say including the likes of Amazon, Deloitte, Hero came as well few years ago for mechanical engineers. Around 50-60 decent companies visit the college for placement with around 300 job offers with the highest package around 41 lpa which was off campus probably but Amazon could give upto 25-30 lpa i guess, The average package would be around 7 lpa i guess but its gonna improve year by year. If you are in CSE or IT you are most chilled with around 80% placements, in ECE as well there are decent placements but after that you have to study really well to get placed But you can always do a lot of things after getting your degree.

Remarks:

I chose this because of the brand of Panjab University. Plus you get a lot of exposure of Chandigarh and there are a lot of opportunities there based on your field, even better than Delhi. Plus you never get distracted in Chandigarh because of the reason that people are too much work and ethics focused. Also, the level of knowledge the teachers have in my college is just great.

after jee I applied to many colleges , such as - PEC , NIT durgapur , IIEST Shibpur , IISER Mohali , IISER Bhopal , NIT Jamshedpur , NIT Patna , NIT Jalandhar , Jadavpur University etc . At last I got PEC in the councelling . I did not choose PEC , the CSAB council only gave this seat . Hence I did not reject any other colleges . Among all the colleges I applied , except IITs and top NITs and JU , PEC was the best college . That's why i choose it . No other reason . I couldn't get into IIT cuz I failed JEE ADV . So I eventually ended up here with my JEE Mains rank . Admission process - Through josaa , csab , dasa . Cutoff varies a lot . for CSE the last rank might be 25k in CSAB . For Metallurgy it can go upto 2 Lakh ranks . Admission process is same as all colleges , online then offline reporting ....Read More

INSIDE STUDENT LIFE AT PEC

When I was supplying for injury colleges I considered a mix of national level and state altitudes apart from my college I applied to students such as Nit Institute of Engineering uiet And a couple of private universities I secured an invitation offers from Thapar in UIT but ultimately chose Peck because of its strong refutation government added status and affordable fee structure compared to private institutions and its location I didnt make it into some higher ranked colleges due to my JE main ranks failing slightly short for their cut off in hindsight what went wrong was merely performance in one of the Gmail sessions where silly mistakes cost me critical marks nevertheless my college being among the top institutes under JE main counselling was still a strong choice and I was satisfied with my allocation The admission process at my colleagues conducted through the Josa and csap based on J main scores there is no separate entrance exam for Peck jmen is the only gateway the Liberty requires candidates to have completely 10 + 2 with physics domestic mathematics the cut off ranks were very every year and differ by a branch for cse and the cut off usually lies within the top 10,000 to 20,000 ranks in Jaime while for ec and mechanical it says further and for branches like Civil or production the cut off is comparatively relaxed that admission experience is sinematic systematic after Jayman results counselling takes place online followed by seat allotment documentation verification and fee payment overall I choose pack because I it offered me a government recognise degree strong aluminium base and good placement in my branch and lower financial burden compared to private colleges while I couldn't make it to iits or top colleges peck gave me an excellent alternative with strong carrier prospects...Read More

PEC: where engineering meets opportunity

According to my JEE mains rank the colleges I applied , PEC was the best among them and also chandigarh is a very good location and also not very far away from my home. this was the reason to choose PEC because it was the best i got according to my rank. Pec accepts students based on JEE mains score, students participate in JOSSA and CSAB counselling.A additional criteria of 75% or more in board or top 20 %ile is also taken into account.
