PEC - History and optimism

I choose VLSI as chip design and manufacturing is the future. We have amazing labs in our department like the 5G lab which recently won among top 100 labs of the nation.also we have a semiconductor research centre where we are taught how chips are manufactured and verified. At the same time; classrooms are really old and in dire need of rennovation. Quiz of each subject conducted every 1/2 week and Midsems and endsems follow , generally very easy.

We have internships for both 3rd and 4th year students companies like Goldman Sachs offer 1.5 LPM , Acresium 1.25 LPM so does American express and many more ;for tech and consulting for core electronics , cadence offers 40 k and texas instruments offer 60 k.

Since the first batch of VLSI is yet to be placed I would take example of ECE for reference. Out of 110 students which sat for placements , 91 got placed , median of 13 lakh with avergae of 16 lakh and 61 lakh highest on campus. These are of 24-25 and this year placements are better as even apple visited us after an hiatus of 3 years. In core electronics , Samsung Rnd , TATA electronics , Cadence , Micron etc visited for tech , UKG , PhonePay , Oracle , Accenture etc vist in consulting and finance , Mckinsey , JP Morgan , GoldmanSachs , AmericanExpress visit. After my btech I plan to do a job.

95k per semester and 80k per year for hostel also mess charges around 4k per month total would be around 13-14 lakh. There is no SC/ST scholarship only EWS/BPL scholarship for department rankers.There are BPL/EWS and PwD scholarship available.

PEC fest is our annual college fest it is a 3 day fest conducted usually in november having a footfall of nearly 1 lakh. Many tech events take place here like robo soccer. We have all the relevant course books and journals in the library. We have AC and projector in almosy every classroom.Sports is great here we have cricket ,football ,badminton ,tennis etc and student participation is ample. We have lots of club to choose from like ACM ,ASPS, SME etc which are decently active.

Double sharing room with mess (not optional) rooms are decent of C block A and B are bad. Meals are decent, hostels are alloted during offline verification and are affortable considering the city and locality.

I was getting electrical engineering at NIT surat and CSE cyber security at NIT patna I choose PEC VLSI as I was interested in Electronics and PEC was a better college than the other two options.I got rejected from DTU EE as I didnt have the required rank to get there as a general male other state applicant. PEC takes admission through JEE mains for participating in JOSAA and CSAB an applicant must have above 75% or 60%[SC/ST] in there +2 PEC vlsi as an open candidate requires 98.4%ile + as an open candidate.

The faculty to student ratio is 1:16. Some faculties are really nice and easy to approch whilst some are cold (espacially the core professors).There is a quiz every 1/2 week. there are midsems then endsems ; academics are very chill and there is no academic stress whatsoever.

We have only one GYM and it is pretty small , the timings make it worse as it is only opened 5-8 AM and PM and closed for Sunday and any other holiday. Cafeterias are opened till 10 PM but we do have a night canteen opened till 2 AM. There is hostel in time of 10 PM for boys but it has some leisure also there is no campus in time.As situated in Chandigarh , we do enjoy ample hangout places like sukhna lake , rock garden , rose garden etc. Its very safe to hangout at night
