What students say about King's College London

Likes

  • Some of the guest lecturers were pioneers in their field, and it was such a pleasure to be able to learn from them.
  • They are also able to help students secure part-time jobs during term time and will assist students who approach them with employment queries.
  • Kings has 5 campuses, and its life is one of the best in London. They have everything one wants while studying, be it multiple libraries with every book youll need or free wifi in all of its campuses.
  • There is a range of accommodations that differ greatly in terms of price and facilities offered.
  • They are always willing to set up meetings if you require their help or have any questions.
  • I have heard good reviews about the student experience, the teaching staff, and the extracurricular activities.

  • Course (As it was just theoretical) .

King's College London was always my dream college. At first, my application was rejected, but then all of a sudden I got a mail saying I was acknowledged. I always wanted to go to King's because of variety of courses available there and as I wanted to get into marketing, I decided to pursue International Marketing but what came to my disappointment was that the Course Fee was too high and the course structure was designed in away that there was no practical experience included in the course. However, it was genuinely the best experience of my life. I made new friends, learned so many new things and got an experience of living independently.

Dislikes:

  • The dissertation support was minimal and it wasn't conducted in an ideal manner. null
  • The cohort was mostly people with 0-1 years of work experience and not as diverse as I was expecting. null

I chose this college because of the reputation and rankings of the university and its location being London. My overall experience was good, with a few pros and cons as mentioned above.

Dislikes:

  • I dislike the Assessment Methods (More exams than practical application) .

My main motivation for choosing this college was that they provided a unique list of modules that were not available in other top-ranking colleges.

Dislikes:

  • There is no placement as such. You can find career fairs happening on campus and career mentors. However, there is no placement cell. null
  • The lab experience for everyone will be different. Which can be considered good or bad. However, for a dissertation, you can rank the projects you want to work on, and if you end up getting a lower rank of your preference, then you might not get the kind of research experience you want. You can always opt to reach out individually to researchers in that case. null

I chose this college as I really loved their website specifically for Neuroscience. Exposure to using fMRI, and brain histology really motivated me to apply for an MSc in Neuroscience at KCL. This course allowed me to choose a speciality out of neuroimaging, neurodegeneration, cognitive neuroscience and neural stem cells - all topic very much in demand in neuroscience research. Out of three offers that I got, KCL was the best university ranking wise, exposure wise, location wise. My overall experience was definitely very good especially because of the support by teachers, who were always very helpful and kind.

Dislikes:

  • Major emphasis on self-studying (less hand-held support), Assessment arrangements can sometimes be "not ideal", Cost of Living .

I chose my course, particularly King's because I did not know what I wanted to do at the time of applying but I had a rough idea that it would be something related to economics and the field of finance which is why I chose economics and management which has a good mix of both quantitative and qualitative learning.

Dislikes:

  • I dislike that the entire exam system is just like schools while I prefer to have continuous assessment. null
  • It is also that while there is a careers office to help you with resume writing, a university job portal and all, no placement team is there which brings companies to campuses. So it is quite hard to get jobs on your own. null

I chose King's because of the programme as it is interdisciplinary, as well as it was a blend of Economics and Policy, the two subjects which I preferred to do. The campus is also located in Central London which is perfect to network and connect with industry professionals.

  • Placement cell not so efficient. Fewer opportunities and guidance. null

My university is known for the efficient and learned staff along with the unique body of researches conducted at the institute. It is known as the best for finance courses and industry exposure programmes. Hence, this was the main point that attracted me to select this university and gain profound knowledge.

I chose the university for its high global ranking (15th in the world) and excellent reputation. I was also impressed by their focus on psychiatric and neurological research which is what I am interested in pursuing.

I have chosen this university because of the immaculate course. The course has incredible flexibility as in Y2 you can choose very tailored modules to yourself after a Y1 which is a taster of the wide range of modules. These include: anatomy, biochemistry, genetics, neuroscience, pharmacology, cell biology among others. The campus is also situated in the heart of London with walking journey to attractions such as London eye, tower bridge etc.
