  • Limited role of the university in helping bag a job. null
  • Slight scope for improvement in some coursework. null

Overview

I applied to various colleges before I got into University of Edinburgh: University of Edinburgh- admitted University of Sheffield- admitted Vanderbilt Peabody College- admitted University of Sussex- admitted Birkbeck, University of London- admitted City, University of London- admitted Owing to the research environment, facilities, ranking and the city itself, I chose the University of Edinburgh. I applied for the 2023 intake and that was based on me having worked for 2 years after my UG and considering it as a good time to go for my master's. The admission process took about 4-5 months from me applying somewhere in Sept-October 2022 and getting accepted in January 2024. Overall, I'm satisfied with the experience and the exposure I'm getting. The discussions and learning in such an environment are nourishing but a lot of it has to be self-driven to make the most out of it because otherwise the offerings can feel limiting at times.

Fees

Tuition fees- 28200 Accommodation fees- 8045.6 There are multiple ways to pay the fee. I pay the tuition fee in 3 instalments and the accommodation fee in 10 instalments. Other living expenses (excluding the above) would be around 400-500 GBP at max, but usually lower (around 300-400).

I chose Edinburgh because I have been here before and l love the city. Plus, the university has great resources and a fascinating history. The faculty is renowned and the research put is also great.

Dislikes:

  • The university can cancel optional subjects at any time without giving a reason which is disappointing. null

Overview

I chose the university for its ranking but when I applied the ranking was 16 in the world now it is 27 in the world according to QS. I now realize that ranking plays a very small part in the facilities provided, as all universities here offer the same facilities. My experience has been average as according to me the university didn’t provide adequate academic support that students needed in terms of subjects that were new and challenging for most of my class. As a class representative, I took a lot of the concerns to them and the university didn’t do anything about the problems we faced as international students.

Dislikes:

  • "However, one main flaw that I have noticed was the fact that in the UK MSc courses are only for a year. I felt that I have had a very compact schedule, which in its way has its pros and cons. " .

Overview

I chose this university because of it's location, job market and job security. Additionally the QR ranking, provisions in terms of qualifications of staff and amenities within the university contributed towards the selection of my university. University life has been pretty good in terms of the different things that I have learnt and my new found independence. Additionally, the academics will be this in terms of the material that was provided, skills that I have obtained through my coursework and assignments. All of which honed me with skills that are very much needed in today’s industry. Additionally, Masters abroad has given me the opportunity to interact with different people. All of us belong to different cultures and I have had many meaningful experiences.

Fees

For Technology and IT based courses it’s typically: £36,500 for an MSc program.

Dislikes:

  • The curriculum pressure. It's too much to take this course should be a 2 year course. The support in terms of research opportunities and finding jobs. The availability of faculty, which is not much. null

Overview

It is going good. Though due to so much pressure, mental health of alot of students is affected and most people take special circumstances and extensions to meet deadlines or improve their performance. It's a challenge to pass courses atleast in my degree program. Most of the people are struggling to just pass. And alot of have applied for special circumstances. It's definitely extremely hard.

Fees

Tuition Fee: 35,300 pounds. Yes, it is on the higher end.

Dislikes:

  • The university can improve the number of student accommodation in the city as every year there is a housing crisis. The university can try to invite more companies for job fair as it provides networking opportunities. The university can try to reduce the workload for Masters student as it becomes quite challenging to manage so many things in such short period of time .

Overview

The overall experience was good as I got the opportunity to study at one of the best universities in the world. At the same time, I also got the opportunity to interact with people from all over the world, learn from them, and developed a life long friendship

Dislikes:

  • One area that could be enhanced slightly is the availability of study spaces during busy periods, like exam season. Sometimes, it can be a bit challenging to find a quiet spot for focused studying or group collaboration. null

Overview

My overall experience at the University of Edinburgh has been incredibly rewarding. The rich academic environment, supportive faculty, and diverse student community have made my time here truly fulfilling. From engaging lectures to meaningful interactions with peers, I've gained valuable knowledge and forged lifelong connections. Overall, it's been a journey of growth and discovery that I'll always cherish.

Fees

Tuition fees vary by course. For accurate information tailored to each program, it's best to visit the university's website.

Dislikes:

  • I think the campus life could be better in terms of inter school and course events so that we can make more connections and friends. The student accommodations can be closer to campus as well .

My overall experience is great. It’s a good learning phase in terms of personal growth. Living abroad alone is challenging but exciting.

Dislikes:

  • The time duration given for each text is a little less. I do not think that a two-hour discussion can justify or satisfy the questions of the students even when we are provided extra material to read with it. Also sometime, they would ask us to read two texts for one session which we weren't able to cover at all. null

Overview

I enjoyed it as much as I could, not just in the area of academics but also opposed me generally living my life in Edinburgh.

Fees

So, my total tuition fees was 26,500 GBP, whereas one GBP is usually equal to 100 rupees.

Dislikes:

  • The initial instructions regarding fee payment, course query and placements were extremely unreliable. There was no specific office where these questions could be asked. The teachers practice a very 'to each your own' approach to studies and there is a lot of self accountability that comes in on a new student. null

Overview

This college is a great place to be for a year. It gives you the peaceful college experience. The city shuts down early but is very easy to get used to. the college has a grandeur about it which makes the experience more exciting. Meeting people from so many different cultures is always a great learning as well.

Campus Life

Campus life is exciting as there are many clubs for different events and cultures. the college tries tube as inclusive as possible and has a space for every student. Infrastructure is quite magical and gives a very olden vibe. Accommodations are fantastic, Library is well equipped and available to student 24x7. a lot of open spaced for students to sit study relax.
