- I also disliked that each buildings are far from each other , which made commuting difficult.
Campus Life
-
There are many campuses in my college. For engineering it was
- The Diamond and
- Sir Frederick Mappin Building
- There are study spaces, canteens, and libraries in each of the campuses.
- There is an international cultural festival which will be held once every year that takes place at my university.
- For sports and extracurriculars, they give a form whether the students are interested in participating in the university team.
Fees
- The full breakdown of the fees was 1,000 GBP for Deposit, and 28,750 for my tuition fees , where I was awarded a 2,500 GBP scholarship.
- The fees are charged in two terms (termly).
- An estimate of my monthly expenses would be 600 GBP. 100 GBP for groceries and laundry expenses. 100 GBP for transport and other expenses. 400 GBP for my accommodation rent.

- The faculty was supportive and always encourage independent thinking.
- The diverse student community and vibrant campus life.
Dislikes
- Some modules were rushed due to time limit.
- Limited career support as an international student.
- Occasionally late feedback and assignment results.
Campus Life
- Our university has a city campus so all different departments are spread across sheffield city. My department was based in a building called The wave but we also had lectures in the Diamond building.
- We have two main libraries called the Western bank library and the Information commons. There always used to be some or other event going on around the student union building. We had over 500 clubs for extracurricular activities.

Likes
- It is very culturally diverse
- The student union is extremely helpful and supportive
- Everyone from staff to students are really kind and helpful
Dislikes
- The tutors are less attentive sometimes
- High steep slopes
- Rushing to buildings spread across the city making it hard to reach lectures on time
Campus Life
- It has one campus spread across the city of Sheffield. The campus has many facilities such as 3-4 libraries, lots of different sports from football ground, water sports, cricket, tennis and many more, there are plenty of medical facilities and the main one for university students is the university health service UHS.
- There's ROAR and every Wednesday event , career fair, freshers fair, society activities. There's lot of societies based on culture, country, sports, religious belief etc that have different events one can join
Fees
- The tuition fees is 21000 Pounds yearly spanned over 3 years it would be 63000 pounds. The accommodation in first year was around 9000 pounds but in the second year I managed to find a cheaper place so it costs me around 4000 pounds. The monthly expenses are usually around 100-200 pounds.
- The tuition fees can be paid yearly or semester wise.In first year my total expense was around 35000 pounds and second year it's around 27000 pounds.

Likes
- The professors and other course-related staff are very friendly and easily approachable. They are very helpful and understanding.
- The way they care for students. Every student has a personal tutor whom we can go to for any personal, professional and academic help.
- Acceptance of foreign students
Dislikes
- Could improve cultural and sports activities for masters students which will help in networking.
- I feel the tuition fee is higher for what we learnt in this one year
- No facility for transport to students.
Campus Life
- My college has only one campus, but it owns multiple buildings for various courses, which are all spread out across the city.
- So it is not one huge campus, but it’s a mix of multiple buildings across the city. The university has a student union, which has multiple societies for sports, student organisations and cultural events.
- It also has a wonderful sports club and gym. Sheffield Student is one of the best student unions in the UK and hosts events all throughout the year.
Fees
- £25,300 was my fee for an entire year. I paid it in two installments. The second installment should be made by the end of February. But if necessary, the university will give an extension of a few more months and will also help the student with multiple options on what can be done if you are unable to pay.
- Apart from this, monthly expenses will be a minimum of £700, where rent takes up 70% of the expense of around £500. Groceries, travel, and other activities can go up to £200 as a minimum, but it depends on the person's spending.

Likes
- Great Professors The professors were working on cutting-edge AI/ML research at Sheffield, primarily in NLP and Robotics. I personally worked with a leading robotics researcher on path planning and optimization and got thorough hands-on experience.
- State-of-the-Art Infrastructure
- Up-to-Date Course Content - The course content was up to date and contained all latest technology. We went through latest ML research papers to see the advancement in the field and how this has come about from the earlier methods.
Dislikes
- Extremely Short Classes for In-depth Courses - Complex topics like BERT and Langchain were rushed due to limited time allocation. There wasn't enough time to cover advanced topics thoroughly.
- Expensive for International Students
- Very Few Graduate Student Events - Events were primarily focused on undergraduate students, with limited activities planned for graduate students.
Campus Life
- There is only 1 campus and yes there was a library, sports facilities, and medical services.
- I do not know about any of the extracurricular events that took place on campus because as a graduate student I did not have the opportunity nor the time to focus on such stuff.
- I was a part of the computer science society that usually hung out after university hours and spend time on hackathons and puzzles.
Fees
- Total Tuition - 26,500 Pounds
- 13,500p is charged for the first semester and 13000 for the second.
- I found my own stay and did not opt for university provided accommodation. I paid 115 pounds per week. I used to walk to university so there were no transportation costs. Monthly costs for groceries, stationary and other miscellaneous expenses came around 200 pounds per month.

Likes
- The Campus is scattered around the city (Close to each other), so you get a lot of chances to roam around the city and take lectures.
- The professors here (Specially in Data Science) are quite knowledgeable and experienced so getting the guidance is quite fruitful.
- The Student Union in Sheffield is one of the best in the UK, so there are a lot of societies and clubs to join and there's always an event going to happen.
Dislikes
- Food is a bit of an issue, I mean the canteen is good but for Indians, you have to find somewhere else to eat.
- As mentioned the campus is scattered across the city, which is good but sometimes it kind of becomes a hassle when you have to walk for 30 minutes before a lecture every morning.
- Relatively expensive things here at the University.
Campus Life
- Studying at the University of Sheffield guarantees an exciting campus life with numerous extra-curricular activities and clubs.
- Main Campus Facilities: Library, sports facilities, and medical facilities are included. Major Events: Welcome Week and International Festival. Athletic clubs, cultural societies, and volunteering offer good opportunities for students to get involved outside the classroom.
- Most Indian students prefer to stay in nearby accommodations.
Fees
- The fees structure is simple it's 29,700 Pounds for international students.
- An estimation of monthly expense is quite subjective but I'd say around 200-300 Pounds without rent is a good range.
- The rent is also dependent on where you live so if it's near city center then it's gonna be a bit higher if farther then a bit on the lower side.
- The credit required for passing the masters in data science is 180.

Likes
- The thing I loved the most about my uni was the detail and attention used for creating each course work assignment. SUMS made sure that the students use both creative aspects and academic learning for each assignment, which made it very unique and educative. This made creating each assignment and writing the essays, more fun.
- I absolutely loved all of the societies and activities done by the student union. There was something for everyone, be it sports, music, introduced to new cultures or travelling. I participated in a lot of these events and my favourite one was travelling to the peak district over thanksgiving holiday.
- I liked the support system placed for students to help us with anything we may have a issue with.
Dislikes
- To be honest, I do not have much to say about what I dislike as I loved my time in Sheffield and my University. The few aspects that I can think of are:
- We could have had more practical projects and in person activities to supplement our assignments
- The fees is a bit high in my opinion, as I am an international student, and I had to pay a lot more compared to home students.
Campus Life
- As the university of Sheffield is a city campus, all of the departments are spread over throughout the city, and I don't know the exact count of the total number of campus.
- We had two libraries, one massive sports centre with multiple playing grounds, career guidance department assisting students with their applications, medical services (UHS) and a student union with numerous multicultural experiences and canteen.
- The most popular event of UoS is Roar which is a sports event.
- The student union has a lot of options for different kind of extra curricular activities like sports, travelling to different places, reading club, gaming club, et cetera. The one I found most interesting was GIAG(give it a go) where you can try a lot of different activities like celebrating a festival or trying out a sport for the first time.
Fees
-
Full fees- £28700. It can be paid completely or in two halves. The first portion was charged before starting the course, and the second portion can be paid in January.
-
The deposit fee of 1000 was deducted from the first half. And for the monthly expenses, I spent around £104/week on rent and around £400 on groceries and other expenses. My travelling cost was zero as I travelled to most places by walkiNG.

- Curriculam: The University of Sheffield was one of the few universities to offer unique courses like the integration of AI in the field of Cybersecurity. The curriculum is balanced between academic and industry applications.
- Industrial Connect: The University hosts seminars, webinars to help connect students with industry experts.
- On-Campus part time jobs: The university also helps students find part-time jobs on campus and also off-campus.
Dislikes
- Honestly, I found very little to dislike about my college experience
Campus Life
- The university does not have a confined building. The epicentre of the university is in and around the Students Union where most of the students like to hangout. Alongside there are Muti-discipline library, cafes and a host of clubs and restaurants in the same area.
- Students will find lots of options in the West Street and City Centre region.
- The major campus festivals are the ball room festival and freshers with other events happening with sports as well.
Fees
- My tuition fee was 26000£ for a year. Sheffield being one of the cheapest and most affordable cities for students, my monthly expenditure was roughly around 600-700£.
- Students can avail of student discounts literally everywhere in the city upon presenting their university ID card.
- My rent is 500£ per month. For transportation I use tram service and you can apply for monthly pass which costs 53£ per month.

- The teaching faculty is so amazing and supportive, no matter how many doubts I have, useful or silly, they are always there to help, whether in class or outside. It is very easy to contact them over email, and they respond within one or two days.
- The culture is very open where teachers see everyone as equals and are not authoritative like it is in India. Every student has a choice to participate whether it is lectures or activities or anything.
- All and I mean all information from lectures or extra coursework is available to us whether we attend or miss the lectures. There is a site used here called Blackboard where students can keep track of assignments, exams, dissertations, coursework, materials marks and feedback.
Overview
I signed up for Rostrum Education which is an agency that helps student choose universities, applications, SOPs and overall assistance. They helped me find the best uni for my course and I am incredibly satisfied. I had great modules on my course, exactly what I was looking for. I had a great experience in my uni, with my teachers, friends, and flatmates. I immediately felt at home here. Overall people are very nice and helpful and it was a new experience for me so I was excited and prepared for it beforehand, I had done a lot of research before moving here. I’ve been on trips, I’ve explored my city, I have participated in various activities and workshops, I have gained a lot of skills, I have developed a really good CV, and I have earned money as well.
Campus Life
The Uni has separate buildings for different courses, with each building equipped with the best technologies, and infrastructure. All buildings have their own cafés for coffee and snacks between lectures. There are three libraries and study spaces. There is a students union building which has all the fun aspect, tech support, student support, free stalls everyday, etc. The octagon is the amphitheater. The interval is our main cafe and BARONE is our main bar/club. We have a lot of clubs and societies that students can be a part of and the main site for all activities and adventures in uni is GIVE IT A GO.
