My course was very up to date, we had in-class materials, extra reading materials, and library resources all dated after 2015 and many even after the Covid. All teaching materials included recent articles and research papers to keep up with the trends. Industrial exposure- my professors took the class out to Pearn Kandola, an occupational psychology company and we had chats with all the professionals to gain understanding of the regular tasks in the job. We also had to present our ideas to the company as a short pitch. We also participated in group discussions, one on one chats and built our network first-hand. For our research experience, we have a compulsory dissertation worth 39% of our entire degree.

Dislikes:

  • The modules were not properly balanced for both the semester, it was inconsistently structured. null
  • In the lectures, there were only one way of teaching and that is through presentation, although lab activities were there but not at an extent. null
  • The timings and duration of the lectures of modules should have been increased. null
  • There were no live doubt-solving sessions during the lectures. null
  • The career service can potentially be increased. null
  • No personalised journey or method for students w.r.t their course to enrol in the group session or societies. null

I have chosen 'Advanced Computer Science' which was decent overall. It was well-updated with the industry standards but not well-curated in terms of teaching methods. But, there was no industrial exposure in the course.

Fees

24,850 in Pound Sterling (GBP) from which I got a scholarship of 4,500 GBP. Payment can be done at once or in two terms (half for one semester and the other half in the last semester), One can pay through a credit/debit card, through bank loans, through NBFC, etc. University policies are flexible in the payment prospect.

It was completely research-based. There are many research-based modules like NLP and Scalable ML. We had labs every week for each module to do the industry-based activities.

Course is designed as per current requirement of the market. Good exposure through tie ups with private institute. Though the industrial exposure could have been better.

Course is very interesting with a year of industrial exposure after completing 2 years of studies.

Its located near my house in Sheffield and also its management program is really good.

Our course is relevant to the industry (automation, robotics) and the modules are revised based on their relevance. We get hands-on experience with excellent labs to understand the difference between theory learned and when practically applied. Our lecturers encourage us to use software used in the present industry to ensure we bloom as competent engineers. Our department tries to keep career fests to meet Industry members and we occasionally have guest speakers at our lectures. In addition to this, our University has its own student workspace area called iForge where students can create their own designs and manufacture their product models. We also have a research scheme called 'SURE' where engineering students can work for 6 weeks over a research project under the guidance of a faculty member.

The course curriculum fits my expectations very well. Before accepting the university's program, I checked the courses and lecturers that are here just to make sure it is what I want. Also, I spoke with past alumni about their experience here so I get a clear review of the program.

Fees

The fees are a bit higher than expected, but the government's loan can cover it. The fee is structured in 3 parts, and they take money from my account at a certain date, which can be extended up to 2 weeks. I like that there is the possibility of extending the date because I want to make sure the student's loan company sends the money first and then the university can take it.
