Uni Of Sheffield: what I felt

I applied to the following universities: The University of Sheffield - Accepted Queen Mary University of London - Accepted The University of Manchester - Accepted University of Salford - Accepted University of Hertfordshire - Accepted I applied only in this three Universities as per my profile and experience. I didn't get any rejections from those colleges. But due to the low ranking of other universities, I didn't apply to more. First of all, I chose this university because of the world ranking, and when I searched for the other two universities, I found that the management and support are not much better, but on the other hand The University of Sheffield's management and support are really good. Also, my elder brother graduated from this university and got his job at Rolls-Royce as a Data Analyst within a few months, and he also told me that Sheffield is really good for students. The admission process was really easy; the university helped us in each and every part of the admission process. If I am unaware of something, then they have their online chat system. From India, I had asked them many questions in their online chat support, and they helped me instantly. They also provided me CAS letter within 2 days, and the application process was really smooth. I just have to click next and see the pre-filled details, that's it. For admission, they needed 6.5 in IELTS or PTE, I think overall 63 marks out of 100. So I gave PTE test and got an overall 70 marks out of 100, and it was pretty easy. Overall, my admission process till visa was really a great experience, I can say. I really love this university, I have really good memories with faculties and students. I applied on September intake 2024, because that's the main intake to apply, and in the January intake, my course was not available. They only take September intake admissions for that course as it's high in demand now. If I talk about the admission process time, then it took me approx 2-3 months because I was waiting for my bachelor's degree results. I applied for this course in February 2024 and got an acceptance letter within 3 days. Then, I was waiting for my bachelor's results, and when I got those, I applied for a CAS letter, and I got that letter also within a few days. The process was fast and easy. The course I took had many interesting topics I was looking forward to learn. I had already done an online course in Data Science and Analytics, so I was already interested in that field. I applied to 5 colleges. University of Sheffield University of Leeds Queen Mary University of London University of Bath University of Southampton I got accepted into Sheffield and Southampton for the course I wanted. Queen Mary offered me a different course to get in. Bath and Leeds, I got rejected. I wanted to get into a lot of the bigger universities in London and Manchester as well. But what I lacked was a decent score in my Undergrad here in India. I didn’t even qualify for a lot of colleges based on my CGPA and the ranking my college had in our country. Between Sheffield and Southampton, I chose to go with Sheffield for a few reasons. Firstly, Sheffield was better on the world rankings chart. I really wanted the best university experience, and Sheffield rates very highly all over the UK. In hindsight, I love that I did not do my university in London because the student life and the uni part is really missing there. I had the best 3 years living in that city. It was next to Manchester, and I always wanted to study in Manchester because I am a big Manchester United supporter. Did came to work as I used to work in their stadium at one point. The admission process was quite simple for most universities in the UK. My work was simpler as I was taking help from a counsellor for my applications, as I did not want to risk anything. But the applications in the UK are pretty straightforward and don’t really ask for countless documents. The conditions are not straight-up set by any college and really depend on your overall profile. For me, they asked me to maintain a 7/10 CGPA in college by the end, and I did achieve it. Other than that, your SOP really matters, and that is basically when you tell them why you really want to join them. I was not asked for an IELTS exam as my school was recognised for providing overall education in my CBSE 12th grade. I applied for the September intake. Had started thinking and shortlisting universities by March-April and was actively applying from June-July. I got a conditional offer from my uni earlier because one semester was left in my undergrad college, and they wanted me to have certain grades. As soon as I got my result back in around July end or August start, I submitted my marksheets and got an unconditional letter. I had received offers from the University of Manchester, the University of Sussex, the University of Reading, in addition to the University of Sheffield. I didn't get any rejections. The University of Manchester course was Management of Information Systems, which is more business-related. The University of Sussex was in Information Technology, so more technology-related. The University of Reading was Business Consulting. I was between the University of Sheffield & Manchester. Both are Russell Group universities. The University of Manchester is higher ranked. However, I really loved the course at Sheffield. It was a good blend of technology & business. That was the major reason for choosing Sheffield. Also, the University of Manchester's tuition fees were higher, and I got a scholarship at the University of Sheffield. The admission process is very easy. You have to fill out the application, provide your transcripts, write a statement of purpose & get 2 letters of recommendation from your professors/teachers/employers. I took IELTS & got an 8 band. Generally the minimum requirement is 6.5. IELTS is generally more common in the UK. Overall admission experience was good. The University of Sheffield reached out to me for grade conversion. I provided that and got the acceptance in a few weeks. I would highly recommend applying as early as possible. September 2022 intake Most UK universities have a Sept intake. That's why I applied for it. In January very few universities/courses have intake. I applied in December and got an offer in January from the University of Sheffield. It depends on the university. The University is well ranked in UK and globally as well. Secondly, the cost of living in Sheffield was bit economical than the other options. Data Science is a booming field and because of my personal interest in that subject. My Score : IELTS 7.5. (This is the only exam I took up)....Read More

I applied for the following univerisities: University of Bristol—accepted but I didn't opt as the cost of living is too high University of Birmingham—accepted but I didn't opt as it's an unsafe city in the UK University of Sheffield—accepted (got admitted here) Edinburgh University—accepted but didn't opt as I got an offer letter really late. University of Leeds—rejected as they required work experience for my course I joined the University of Sheffield as my course here has good recognition (ScHAAR accredited). The admission process was very simple and easy. They required IELTS eligibility of overall band 7, with minimum scores of 65% in the undergrad course . I was involved in each and every step of my admission process. Mr Parth from Collegedunia was really helpful in this process.
