Masters at King’s College London

I applied to 4 colleges- 2 in London and 1 in Birmingham City and 1 in Manchester. I wanted to mainly live in a metro city to feel lively and have a good experience.  King's College London: Accepted, Aston University: Accepted, Brunel University: Accepted very quickly. I got a direct rejection from University of Manchester and when I inquired for the reason they informed me it was due to not having Maths as a subject in my Graduation Degree. I chose King’s college mainly because of the reputation and ranking of the college which I thought could help me land a job.  Admission process involved direct application along with SOP and reference letters . After a lot of time I got the offer letter. IELTS Score was the base criteria . Bachelor scores or grades were considered but the overall profile of academics and work experience can be substantial. I took admission for the September intake because it is the main intake where the majority of courses are available and most students join in that intake. The admission process was a bit time consuming for me. I applied in the last week of March which was the deadline for application submission. I applied to the following colleges: King's College London - I was admitted and accepted the offer as it provided a unique course in the entire UK and is ranked second in the world for Psychology. Leeds University - I was admitted but did not accept the offer as King's College London was a better choice for me. Nottingham University - I was rejected, possibly because my experience and interest may not have aligned with the university's requirements. London School of Economics - I was rejected. I chose King's College London over the others as it provided a unique course that had a combination of both psychology and psychiatry. Secondly, the overall world ranking of King's College London is number 2 in Psychology. Thirdly, its location being located centrally in London was one of the reasons to choose. The admission process involved filling a paid non-refundable form with all the documents like a transcript, IELTS or TOEFL result, Statement of Purpose etc. The eligibility criteria differ for every course but mainly a good grades in undergraduate degree, minimum of 6.5 in IELTS score and relevant work experience can be an added advantage . SOP holds importance and should be well written. Overall admission experience was smooth. I applied to the September 2023 intake as it is the biggest intake in the UK, where all russell group universities take place. I started applying in January and received the outcome of the application in April. So, I would highly recommend applying as early as possible to avoid issues in the visa process. I Applied to 7 universities in the UK: King's College London: Accepted, Bristol university: Accepted, Edinburgh University: Rejected, Nottingham University: Accepted, Leeds University: Accepted, Birmingham university: Accepted, Manchester University: Waitlisted.  Edinburgh University did have some requirements for having a certain amount of experience in my field, which I did not have however I still applied for the programme. Manchester University waitlisted me however up till now, they just didn't respond about my offer being accepted or rejected either. King's College London is one of the best colleges in London for social sciences and public policy. I chose this college due to its location, major networking opportunities, best faculties and the choices of modules which I wanted aligned the best with King's College London. Some basic factors which influenced my decision were: the profile of the faculties, the extra curricular activities, location, overall college experience . The admission process is as follows : you fill in the application for your course and after a considerable amount of time you'll get a conditional acceptance (or rejection). The application has basic questions about your personal details, qualifications, and personal statement. After getting the conditional acceptance, on your portal you'll have a specific given duration to pay the deposit fee and then before starting your course, provide the details of your graduation with bachelor's degree, transcripts etc. Once the admissions team goes over your documents, they'll approve it and provide you with an unconditional offer or CAS letter, which is required for processing your visa. My overall experience was okay. I wouldn't say it was the best. My application got several issues and delays towards the end to get the CAS letter, due to which the time I would have needed for applying for a visa and getting it, was shortened from months to weeks. However my friends had a very smooth process with their application. So I think it just depends on luck, I guess my application was stuck somewhere and they had to go over my documents all over again which caused several delays. I applied for the 2023 intake . I just graduated from my bachelor's in June 2023 and wanted to start my master's immediately. My admission process took a very long time as mentioned before due to several delays. I think I applied in mid January and got my conditional offer in April. After that I provided my documents and degree of my undergrad in June and after that it took them 2 months to process and approve it to provide me with an unconditional offer and CAS letter. I chose to study in the UK primarily because of the research orientations and one-year master's courses. This will help me achieve more in less time so that I can pursue my PhD/job aspects as soon as possible. Moreover, the culture in the UK is very sophisticated. In terms of academic reputation, KCL is a top university with a very highly sought name and reputation, which helps score good jobs as companies recruit people from institutes they trust. It is often said that the weather in the UK is bad but in my experience, just a small part of the winter can be harsh, but that is covered by Christmas celebrations and a vibrant lifestyle; also, everything is centrally heated, and you can hardly feel the cold inside. In terms of career opportunities, if you apply soon enough, that is, from the beginning of your course, you need to be focused and perseverant for grabbing opportunities. If you have job experience already, it can be really helpful. Lastly, the student life in King's is the best in all of the UK; it is very multicultural and has opportunities and clubs for every kind of activity—robotics, art, fashion, language, country-orientated, etc. You can never get bored and it has a lot of opportunities to find your preferred connections....Read More

I chose this college as I really loved their website specifically for Neuroscience. Exposure to using fMRI, and brain histology really motivated me to apply for an MSc in Neuroscience at KCL. This course allowed me to choose a speciality out of neuroimaging, neurodegeneration, cognitive neuroscience and neural stem cells - all topic very much in demand in neuroscience research. Out of three offers that I got, KCL was the best university ranking wise, exposure wise, location wise. King's College London was always my dream college. At first, my application was rejected, but then all of a sudden I got a mail saying I was acknowledged. I always wanted to go to King's because of variety of courses available there and as I wanted to get into marketing, I decided to pursue International Marketing but what came to my disappointment was that the Course Fee was too high and the course structure was designed in away that there was no practical experience included in the course.
