  • Studying my MSc at Lancaster has been a mix of challenge and excitement. Diverse classmates make discussions lively, and classes blend theory with real-world projects.
  • Workload was very high at deadlines, but support is great. We needed to submit our coursework on time or else marks were deducted. Large class sizes, including Chinese and other Asian students and 25 fellow Indian students, were part of my class.

Fees

  • Tuition fees were £31500, and the Scholarship - £5000, so the final payment was £26500. Accommodation fees are £198 per week of living in the university campus. Initially it was a half-yearly payment.
  • After consulting with the finance team, It was divided into 4 instalments of both tuition and accommodation fees. Monthly expense per month excluding rent is of food and travel - £300 per week, entertainment and shopping - £100

  • My course has a few taught modules but is heavily academically marked on my research project, which makes the difficulty level of the course quite high, as research is unpredictable and hence can affect marks.
  • The positive aspect of my course is that it is training me to truly understand my subject inside out and apply that understanding to a research level. This is a skill that is crucial for a researcher aiming for a PhD. There are hardly any negative aspects of my course but just for the sake of stating one: computational chemistry can be quite difficult for traditional chemistry students with no work or lab experiences and fresh out of undergraduate level.
  • I have only one class per day for 4 days in a week. Each class is 2 hours long, typically from 11-1 or 2-4 pm.
  • Personal tutors are present to assist students both academically and with any personal requirements such as part-time work. Although it is discouraged to pursue part-time work, as the course offered by the Department of Chemistry is highly exhaustive and requires nothing less than a hundred percent dedication from the student's side.
  • I have personally connected with my research supervisor the most, as he has similar interests in the research field as me. He has vast experience and knowledge in his subject and efficiently handles any student who might be struggling in the same.

Fees

  • The full tuition fee for my course at UCL is 37,500 pounds. I did not opt for hostel or university accommodation; hence, I am not aware of the costs regarding that.
  • Students at UCL are supposed to pay the fee semester-wise. We are required to pay the first installment, which is one-third of the total tuition fee, by the first month of classes.
  • My rent is 650 pounds and I pay about 100 pounds for commuting. Including food and miscellaneous expenditures, my total monthly expense is approximately 850 pounds.

  • LLM at UCL is quite intensive and requires a lot of reading. The faculty is very cooperative and provides us with a lot of reading materials. Self-study is very important to score good marks and even passing marks. My course is solely theoretical because it is law.
  • There are only positive points about the course for instance: the reading material is provided to us, we get assignments to complete and the faculty provides us the feedback. Group learning is also one of the options, and we can make the appointments with the teachers if we need any help.
  • There are only two classes every week and timings are different. My timing is 11-3 on Tuesday and 2-4 on Thursday. We also have one optional course on academic legal writing on Friday.
  • Around 20 Indians are enrolled in my course.

Fees

  • The fees are 34,400 pounds paid in each semester, which means we are required to pay fees in three instalments.
  • The first 2000 pounds are paid to secure the admission.
  • After admission, the first installment is paid in October beginning or September end.
  • The second installment is paid in February.
  • The third in April-May.
  • The estimate of monthly expenses is around 1000 pounds, which includes living and food expenses.
  • The total is around 60 lakhs, including everything.

  • The academics are not difficult but are different to what we learn and execute In India. So you might find it a bit challenging.
  • I have classes 4 days a week and each day has different schedule.
  • You are assigned to a personal tutor with whom you can discuss and ask about anything. So they are really helpful in terms of giving advice on part time jobs, student life, accomodations and almost about everything.

Fees

  • My course is for 34,400 pounds. It is to be paid in 3 installments.
  • I did not go for university accomodations and selected private accomodations. I had few friends already in London to help me with accomodation. So my rent is about 700 GBP per month for single room near my university.
  • Monthly expenses apart from rent can go up to 250 - 300 GBP including extra bills , grocery and other stuff.

Really relevant and updated course curriculum with opportunity for practical research and experimentation. There is a heavy focus on statistics and the more scientific aspects which differ from BA Psychology programs. This is something to consider if science/math isn't a focus of you.

The factors that drove me to accept the offer were: World ranking, campus and location, well-rounded course structure related to all branches of Psychology, focus on scientific aspect of Psychology. What I liked most about University was the social aspect in terms of clubs and societies, and the focus on providing a well rounded Psychology background and the practical work we did. These factors also led me to choosing this particular program.
