In pursuit of science

While the campus is very good for learning and research purposes, the lack of political opinions is a problem. The authorities are not supportive towards students organising themselves for their needs. Also ladies holtel is said to be a jail.

Curriculum for the course is mostly similar to the one that is followed by most of the universities for masters. But the exam structure is completely different and based on exam pattern by IIT madras. Questions are more application level than theory.

There is ample placement opportunities for B Tech students in the campus. But the placement opportunities for masters students is limited. Many companies comming for masters students are private entrance coaching centres.

Tatva is the technical festival conducted in the campus and is usually conducted in the month of October in the monsoon semester. Ragam is the arts festival of the campus and is usually in the month of March. Both are famous throughout the state.

The fees structure of masters program is relatively cheap. Fee is collected in each semester through sbi collect. The fees per semester is approximately 10,000 inr. The hostel fees is separate and is paid monthly

Scholarships provided by different state governments is available to the students in the campus. But the arrival of funds for the scholarship takes time and fees must be paid by the students themselves in the meantime.

The campus has a cold response towards extra curricular activities. The lab facilities are very amusing and modern. There is pleanty of instruments fer experiments. Sports is pursued by interested students and the football team is a notable one.

The hostel infrastructure is sufficient at the present and most of the roomsare crowded. But new hostel rooms are being built and the work is in the last stage. Soon,the facilities in the hostels will improve.

Alumni network is actively controlled by the faculties of the departments and their life is being actively tracked to provide guidance and inspiration to the students. Seniors are also helpful for instructions and doubt clearing.

Admission for masters programme is based on JAM(Joint Admission test for Masters) conducted annually by IITs. A JAM rank below 1000 is usually necessary for general category students. After qualifying the exam, separate allotment is done for yhe NITs

All the faculty of the campus are PhD holders and are participants in serious research work. The classes are above average and depends on the faculty. But they are supportive and very helpful in clearing doubts.
