Calicut University, the largest university in Kerala, is spread across 520 acres of land at Tenhipalam. The university includes 34 departments, like Botany, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Commerce & Management studies, Computer Science, Mass Communication and Journalism, Physics, Mathematics, and others. Some of the key infrastructural facilities offered are:

All 34 departments have KOHA-enabled automated domain-specific academic libraries.
Comfortable and spacious classrooms and seminar halls with ICT facilities.
Science departments have common specialized laboratories with the latest equipment.
Common academic support facilities provided are CSIF (Centralised Sophisticated Instrumentation Facility), a museum, animal house, botanical garden, park, observatory, and manuscript library.

it’s a very beautiful campus where you can have a very calm environment
it’s a vast college and we have a beautiful garden

the canteen food might have raised some uncomfortable situations in college

Students view on course curriculum

the reason i chose this course is that i plan to persue my ACCA dream , so by choosing this course i could get a 3 paper exception and also a 3 year college life so yea , And the curriculum introduces us to a lot of firms and they organise classes for our career developments by setting up various classes of professionals , i don't find any room for improvements in the way of teaching by our faculties , i would say without a single ray of doubt they are top notch faculties , they are highly qualified professionals . the frequency of exams are 4-5 months so they are not difficult at all , tho natural calamities are a hindrance but apart from that it's all good

Internship opportunities provided by the college

we don't have any such internships for our course , though other departments such as food technology and bio or micro has various internships with stipend and they get internships under various companies

Fees structure of the course per semester and scholarship available

we have to pay 9000/- per semester and a caution deposit of 2000/- is charged from students at the time of admission and will be returned after you leave the college , and additional fees include union fee and exam fees . The semester fees of batchmates varies according to their courses , courses such as science core courses are comparatively higher than ours , there are various scholarships for female students and fees reductions for sc/st students

Events organized, clubs and facilities available in the campus

our colllege held many programs over this last 2 year , which includes day and night programs , we held college day on last March , holy by last february , christmas , onam , we celebrated every major events . And about the library there's a wide range of books in our library , the sports club of our college is very active and we are very good at handball and rugby, there's no politics in our college though an election is ran every year to determine the next student union , there are projects in every classrooms

Students view on faculties

the faculties in our college maintains a very good relation with students , and they are very approachable as they are very understanding and there are faculties those behaves more like friends . A faculty i love is Sneha miss from computer dept , she used to handle our couple subjects in couple semesters and she was a wonderful teacher , she is very friendly and helped us in many situations as she is very approachable , a faculty i don't really like might be Nizam sir as he did something a teacher shouldn't have done , once he humiliated on of my friend in front of the whole class while we were absent by suspension though he possess great teaching skills as his classes are very understandable . There are 6 semesters in whole and and there are 6 subjects in 2 first two semesters and 5 subjects in remaining 4 semesters , i wouldn't say they are hard , it's very simple to learn if you do some work , i would say it's easy enough to pass just by preparing a day before exam

Admission Process of the college

This college was my first option , i've never been rejected by any colleges , and the reason why i chose this college over others is that it's a beautiful college with an amazing campus and infrastructure , i love the infrastructure of this college over any other colleges in calicut , and the eligibility for our college courses are set up by a cutoff marks , there are no exams for acceptance , and overall admission procedures were very easy

There is strictness towards dressing.Actually it is needed but the innocent people who wear modestly is getting punished.

Admission:

I applied to Asmabi college and got seat in there but my parents already booked management seat in this college.And also my parents didn't like asmabi college so,they told me to study in this college.No,I didn't get rejection from any college.I didn't make it there because this college was more good than that college.There are two ways which a student can get admission here.Management and Merit.For merit eligibility was 90% above and there were no exams for my course.The admission experience was good for me.

Buses are more frequent than trains and you can get down right at the University Bus Stop. On a normal day with minimal traffic it takes around 3-4 hours.

Private Bus- not safe (Cost INR 90-95)

KSRTC buses- safe but not comfortable (Cost- INR 100)

AC Volvo buses- comfortable but expensive (Cost- INR 200)

Trains are delayed and less frequent than buses. You will have to get down at Parappanangadi, or at Calicut, and then take a bus to the University.

Express trains- INR 50

Superfast- INR 65

Passenger- INR 25

At 8.10 AM, there is the Ernakulam-Kannur Intercity Express that one can board. It reaches Parappanangadi between 10 and 10.30 AM. There’s also the Pune SF/ Lokamanya Tilak/ Nizamuddin SF at 6.20 AM from Thrissur. So you will have to get down at Tirur and Calicut. A third option is the Cannanore Passenger that starts from Thrissur at 5.55 AM. As it is too early, it’s suitable for people who are cutting down on expenses.

Deepthi Cultural Center - This place is run by CMI fathers. It is cost-effective and well-furnished. It can be reached from the back of the University and is close to the Languages Block. It is suitable for both men and women. It has a variety of single as well as shared rooms.
Malanad - This one resembles an expensive lodge. For women, there is a hostel-like facility. For men, it is more expensive. It is within walking distance of a few minutes from the front of the University. It’s located at a place called Chenakkal.

These places are cost-effective, nearby and well-equipped. You can also hail an auto from the University Bus Stop to reach these places.
