Course Curriculum Overview

2

Sociology (Hons) deeply studies human behaviour, social structures, and societal norms and equips students with enhanced research study. This degree offers a wide range of social work, government, NGOs and a commitment to social change.

Internships Opportunities

2

Internships and placements depend on the course chosen by the students. Generally, B.Com and BVOC students go for internships but others can also try even outside of college. Since my course did not have much to do with internships, I have less input to give about it.

Placement Experience

2

From the last year onwards the students become eligible for campus placements, however, meeting the placement requirements like the overall CGPA. Companies like Deloitte, Ernst and Young and many other famous ones do visit for campus placements. Placements depend on the course taken like B.Com students have a higher chance of placement than humanities courses students. Although internships can be done even midway through the course. I will go for my PG.

Fees and Financial Aid

1st year- 15000 2nd year- 20000 3rd year- 25000 The fees increases every year. However, compared to other colleges in Delhi University like MLNC or Ramlal Anand JMC's fees is very high. MLNC per year fees was 7k. Scholarships are also given to sports students or financially weak students after applying.

Campus Life

4

MONTAGE, the annual JMC fest is held every year by the student council of the college. Apart from that many other society fests keep on happening. The campus life is pretty vibrant with a lot of fresh air and a beautiful campus, An open gym is there too with a proper gym as well. A very big football and cricket ground. Various clubs and societies keep a student occupied throughout college life, sometimes it gets hectic but it is also very fun and a new learning experience. The sports society is one of the biggest in college.

Admission

Jesus and Mary College is one of the most prestigious colleges at Delhi University and has an impressive student-teacher ratio and a very dedicated faculty. I had applied to Sri Venkateshwara College and JMC and I got accepted at both the colleges but I chose JMC considering all the factors. Like Saint Stephens College, JMC also functions on its own but works with the UGC. JMC accepts the CUET exam for course eligibility and cut-offs differ in each course.

Faculty

4

The student-teacher ratio is 40:1. The faculty is very nice, motivating, and approachable. There is an exam per semester so if your course is 3 years then 6 semesters and 6 exams followed by regular internal assessments. The exams are doable if you have a good command over the previous year questions.

Night Life

4

The nightlife is pretty exciting if you are someone who enjoys going out and having fun. Since it is in the centre of south Delhi, I believe it to be safe for a female. Haus Khas is very famous among students and places like Majnu ka Tila is a daily spot. Khan Market is also very near for aesthetic cafe hopping. The central Delhi library is also near for aspirants and avid readers. There is no on-campus hostel but there are a few around college that are opted by students. Classes generally get over by 5 pm. Satya Niketan is the most common place for south campus students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

It DU, so i think for many students it comes down to if you are able to make it to cutt off list. So my decision was based on it. I cleared the cutt off list for english hons so i took it. I wanted to make my way for govt job, so it was all about getting a degree regardless of what subject i was getting. I think curriculum just make you educated enough to get to know but its the college life that make you come face to face with the real world. exams every 6 months i.e every semester i think its good.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I really like Human Geography which let me to opt for this paper. Besides theory papers, we also have practical papers every semester through which we conduct surveys, interviews, research which helps us in preparing for the real world applications as well as further academic pursuits if we want to go in the field of Remote sensing or GIS. I feel that for papers including research or management, we should be showcasing how we can mitigate them or adapt in such scenarios and also make drafts for writing a research for further pursuits. However, as the time is limited it is quite understandable as to why its not conducted. We have two exams in a year and they are quite relevant and easy

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is good and may be seen as average in aspect of my college . I selected my course as I saw myself holding potential in the field of language , English was my strong interest. The curriculum prepares a basic and needed knowledge for everyone accordingly and yes , it may be seen as an important aspect in higher education, experiences from professors and teachers is shared by live demonstrations and examples in order to achieve a good understanding. The improvement in the curriculum may be that of a much regular based classes as there is a frequent cut in classes and sometimes some teachers may slack during the day cancelling classes and stuff . The frequency of exams and timings are arranged and not much complicated related to my course and difficulty may be considered moderate .
