Course Curriculum Overview

4

I had a keen interest towards civil engineering. So, I chose this course. There are many topics in our curriculum that fascinates me. However, there are some topics which has become irrelevant in the present circumstances where everything is controlled by high tech machines. So, I think there should be improvisement in the course. Else, the course is well designed enough. There should be a improvisement in timing of exams also. We get nearly 4 months for every semester in my 2 years of college experience which is very much need to be given more time. As the course is very hard so we need more time to score good marks.

Internships Opportunities

4

There is not any internship associated with our college directly. However faculties help to give internship opportunities. Students can also do internship on their own from any website. However the clubs help a lot to give the opportunity to do internship. Seniors help a lot about internships.

Placement Experience

5

Students are eligible for placements in their final year. Many companies come here to choose students for working. Some of them are Amazon, Facebook, Google, Bajaj, Adobe, Wipro, L&T, CESC and many more. More than 1000 offers were made across all Engieering branches. Approximately over 93% students got their placements. The highest offer was of 1.8 Cr PA by Facebook. The lowest was around 5 LPA. The average is around 11-12 LPA. I am also eager for the placements and preparing for that.

Fees and Financial Aid

Jadavpur University comes in top in terms of affordability in my opinion. The annual fees is very minimal. It is around 2600 Rs. During the admission we have to pay nearly 5000 Rs which covers both 1st and 2nd Year. Moreover our college offers various scholarships for the students who are meritorious as well as from a poor family. It is offered for all student regardless of their respective categories. Also there are no such discrimation towards any category students and all the fees are same for all which is itself very minimal. Our University offers scholarships like SVMCM which is of 60000 Rs per year. As well as there is Freeship which offers 5000 Rs per year for the students who score well in semester exams and from a poor background. There are also many scholarships offered by our college except these.

Campus Life

5

There are many fests organised in Jadavpur University. The biggest fest is Sanskriti. The biggest tech fest is Srijan. These are conducted every year. As well as there are freshers fest for every departments. As well as the there is a fest for all newcomers irrespectable of departments named U-Turn. Also there are many fests that happens every now or then. Our library has a huge range of books and journals. Also there are seperate libraries in each departments. There is a huge field where anyone can play their favourite game in the breaktime. There are also many student clubs where value is shared. Also our clubs particaipate in pan India level competitions and as well as we became champion many times.

Admission

I didn't opt for any other colleges as I was determined to get admission in this college. It was my dream to study in Jadavpur University. In West Bengal as well as India it is considered to be one of the greatest Engineering colleges. Moreover the fees is very less and very much affordable. The ROI is also extremely high. Admission process is very smooth. You have to give the WBJEE exam to get into here. You need a good score to get in here. Last year's cutoff was approximately rank 57 to 2917 that means you have to bring that rank to get in here which is not so easy but achievable. Education quality is very high here so don't think much and try to get in here.

Faculty

4

The faculties are very good in terms of knowledge they distribute among students. As well as they are very much approachable. IB sir, AM sir are my favourite faculties as they interact with students like a friend and also teaches very well. Some faculties are rude a little bit because they yell at students for no reason sometimes. There are too many exams conducted. There are 2 CTs before a semester of 30 marks each. Then there is end semester exam which is of 100 marks but only 70% of that is taken and adding the average of 2 CTs, the final result is published.

Night Life

4

There is gym, cafeteria and library where you can spend time after classes. Also there is jheelpar to spend your time relaxing. There is massive playground of our University which is also great place to spend time. Also the atmosphere in the light in the night in our campus is mesmerizing. The locality is very safe. There is train station and big market nearby. Also there are cafeteria and restaurants nearby the college where good food is served in reasonable prices which makes it a paradise for food lovers. The main gate of the campus is shut down after 9.30 PM. However, hostellers enjoy the campus whole time.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Regarding examination the frequency is generally acceptable but the timing sometimes overlaps with project submission, creating unnecessary pressure. Exam duration is of 3hrs They should focus more on building projects which can be helpful for students Labs are modern and well equipped In terms of teaching methods a shift towards interactive learning, problem based assignments, hackathons and collaborative projects could make the learning experience more impactful. More emphasis on research and innovation at the undergraduate level could also encourage academic pursuits.
