- Campus life is quite good. We have a lot of activities on campus. College fests are quite good here.
- Faculty is quite well qualified. most of them have done PhD from top institutes.
- Institute fee is quite low here. You can complete your engineering degree in just INR 10,000.
Dislikes
- Everyone cannot get hostel here. Only 10% of students get hostel here.
- Infrastructure isn't that good due to low fees. Buildings here are quite old.
- Girl:Boy ratio is not good due to very less reservation for girls.
Course Curriculum Overview
This course has a lot of great opportunities. Average package for this course is 25.51 LPA. The total number of academic staff is 902 and total number of students is 13570. So faculty:student ratio is 1:15 . The faculty are very helpful and knowledgeable and obviously their academic qualifications are very bright. The course curriculum is relevant and it surely makes students industry-ready through conducting various lab works and induction programs. Term exams are conducted each semester after nearly 6 months. Term exams are of medium difficulty and easy to pass.
Internships Opportunities
Samsung, Amazon, Microsort, Goldman Sachs, DE Shaw, Salesforce, Codenation, Visa, Directi take a bulk amount of interns from Jadavpur University. There are many other product based companies that come to recruit interns and obviously for placements too and they pay atleast 50k PM to interns depending on the company. Roles offered are Software Development Engineers, Graphic Designers, Marketing etc. Its outcome is to impact training to Indian students in the appropriate technology so that the country could produce indigenous consumable material.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for campus placements from 7th and 8th semester onwards. The top recruiter companies in Jadavpur University are Facebook, Google, Amazon, Apple etc. The highest package provided is INR 1.8 CPA(Facebook) , INR 1.4 CPA(Google) , INR 1.1 CPA (Amazon) . Average package is 30 LPA (For CSE), 25.51 LPA (For IT) , 22 LPA (For ETCE) , 14.25 LPA (For IEE) . Percentage of students getting placed is 89.01% overall. After getting the degree I will sit for placement.
Fees and Financial Aid
Academic fees for Engineering courses other than IT is INR 5710 (for 2 years) and for IT is INR 30860 (for 1 year). The tution fee here is probably the lowest. Yet concessions in fees, in terms of full and half-freeship, are awarded to needy and meritorious students of the day courses on the recommendation of the department. Provision is there for covering max of 10% of students with full-freeship. Your performaces at he annual exam may earn endowment scholarship and/or book grants for you, irrespective of your financial condition. However, in some cases financial backwardness is one of the criteria. Scholarships provided are : SC/ST/OBC stipend, Kanyashree Prakalpa K1+K2, SVMCM, etc. We have a lot of internal stipends including those sanctioned by the DPI office. Stipends are awarded on means-cum-merit basis.
Campus Life
Annual fest is Sanskriti and tech fest is Srijan. Both of these are conducted in April. Most of the books and journals are available in our library. Wi-Fi, labs, classrooms, library, recreational, center, grounds for football and cricket, and courts for basketball, vollyball and badminton. Most of the books and journals are available in our library. Student can play and available sports or take part in extra curricular activities in free time on campus. Students can take part in sports and extra curricular activities in freshers fest CIIPPUS and U-Turn. Some of the clubs in JU are E-Cell, Gaming club, Anime Club, Coding club, Mechatronics club etc. Website for student run by students is : srijanju.in .
Admission
To take admission in Jadavpur University one has to give WBJEE. Eligibility criteria : 2. Candidate must be atleast 17 years of age 3. Candidateshould have passed class 12 or equivalent with physics and maths along with any one of these subjects chemistry, biotechnology, biology, computer science, computer application, technical vocational subject with individual pass marks(in both theory and practical) 4. Must have scored a minimum of 45 percent marks(40 percent for SC,ST,OBC-A, OBC-B,PwD) in above 3 subjects taken together 5. Candidate should have qualified english in the class 12 exam with atleast 30 percent marks . Application form is available in WBJEE official website : wbjee.nic.in .
