What Students Say
Likes
- The greenery of the campus is awesome. beautiful campus with 67acr land (main campus). Gender ratio is better than other engineering colleges.
- The amount of freedom students get here is great. no certain restrictions on campus visit and etc. JU run east asia's one of the largest fest, Sanskriti which is also one of the liked event.
- JU doesn't has mandatory attendance policy like IITs, that gives students more personal space.
Dislikes
- The infrastructure of JU is just decent enough, as a T1 institution it should be more developed.
- The campus is very politically active and for that reason many times there is a chaos on the campus.
- JU gives year lag those students who didn't attend labs.
Course Curriculum Overview
Our curriculum is as relevant as the other top institutes are but the thing that makes JU more relevant is the clubs, run by students, they work really hard to embrace technology and be up-to-date, but there should be a slight improvement in the B.E course as it is more theory-oriented.
Internships Opportunities
The internship opportunities at our university are as good as our placements, and the strong alumni network of our institution helps students crack it easily. From top MNCs to service-based companies everyone recruits students from JU as interns.
Placement Experience
JU is one of the leading engineering colleges in terms of placements and its highlight is its ROI. The average package for the circuital branch varies between 15-20 LPA and for the non-circuital branch it went 8-12 LPA. every year the highest package crosses 1cr.
Fees and Financial Aid
Jadavpur University top here, its ROI in terms of placement is magnificent, way better than IITs. Its total fees for 4 years B.E is 10k only (only IT department costs around 2.5L as this department is not funded by the government) and the good thing is there is no fees increase. as the fees is very low there isn't any kind of fees relaxation for SC/ST or scholarships issued by the university.
Campus Life
JU has mainly 3 programs which are U-Turn (Fresher's), SRIJAN (the annual techno-management fest), SANSKRITI (the annual cultural fest). besides these JU organizes many events that make campus life more memorable. there are over 20 clubs in JU in almost every field. but the infrastructure is decent.
Admission
I chose JU because at my rank the best possible institute that I could get was that, also it is situated in my hometown. Compared with other colleges JU has the lowest fees which attracts me the most. To get into JU one has to score very well in WBJEE.
Faculty
the faculties of JU are highly qualified, did their post-graduation from top institutions, abroad and India as well. but some faculties are very orthodox, you have to write exact words of their notes on exam. our course completion is 4 years which is divided into 8 semesters in every sem there is class test for every subject.
Night Life
JU has many spots to hang out like 'JHILPAR', 'OAT', 'WORLD VIEW', and 'CAB' Students often reduce their stress thereby jamming or spending time with friends. JU has a central library as well as departmental libraries. There is also a gym on the campus. The nightlife of JU is really beautiful and there is no such hostel-campus timing.
