Course Curriculum Overview
I would rate the course curriculum a nine out of 10 because in my courses the real world applications are a lot because I am a cs student and the world is having a cs boom for example in terms of ai or other fields such as neural networks and other stuff during the courses some courses which are offered by the Department of mathematics are old fashioned to be honest and haven't been updated like in a span of 10 to 20 years but the department courses which are offered by cs are regularly updated and they are good they make you prepare for the industry or work and corporate culture
Internships Opportunities
The internships here are out while it came on how much you have learnt over schooling or graduates based on your course which is Peter Robertson except for that the internship I have different requirements in condition to face some profile by consulting requires you to have propositions of responsibilities meanwhile some prociles like software development doesnt require you to have any eos knowledge of prejudice some knowledge about frontend and backend and projects. Internships are mostly allowed in your experience for example Google revealed I have a bias as they have spent one more year appear to b techs in the campus to learn more things.
Placement Experience
The placements in IITKP are very good as a lot of companies visitors due to placements the Btech students are available to set for placements on the 4th year meanwhile the dual degree students are available to sit for placement in their 5th year. In my course the highest packaged in general lies around 1.5 cr per annum and the lowest package lies around 10 to 20 lpa. There are most commonly five profiles which students choose during placements the software development is the one I am choosing for and the companies offer on an average around 20LPA on a good student with good knowledge in the field of SD. The placement percentage vary from department to department in my department it generally lies around 90%. The lists of the companies can be found in the official website I believe because there are hundreds and hundreds of companies which I cannot name. Comprising of all the departments the average placement stats are around 75% of students who get placed, its decent in terms of an IIT.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees structure comprises of tuition fees which is 100,000 per semester and around 40-45K for Hostel, Mess and other facilities for Undergraduate students. There are various scholarships available ehich apply on the Tuition fees. No scholarships can be availed on the Hostel and Mess Fees. There is a 100% fees waiver for the SC and ST students. Also, depending on the family income, you can get a fees waiver of 33% or 66%. There are also various kinds of scholarships available based on Academic merit too.
Campus Life
The campus experience here are a 10 out of 10 without a doubt this is the best iit in terms of the campus life and social aspects you can interact with every single person you meet and learn a new thing here there are a number of societies and clubs which you can join and try to develop your social side or develop your skills which will indeed help you later in your life. The library here is also one of the biggest library of all the iits and it has a lot of rooms you can sit and study in it stays open till 12 O clock. Almost all of the books are available in the library that you want to read or it has the access to national digital library and you can read anything that you want the facilities of technological aspects are also really good as it is one of the most advanced institutes of India the aspects of extracurricular and sports are also good. IITKGP is so good in all the extracurriculars such as ports social and cultural and technology such that no other it comes close to it kgp in terms of extracurriculars campus life and involvements I personally am a chess player and I do play football I also love to do competitive programming but I have just started that a few months ago. No matter how rare the thing that you want to do is you will always find people in the campus who are into that thing so you can always refer to some senior or some guy who is more experienced than you to get better yourself.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities in IITKGP are not up to the mark. The hostels are mostly run on the basis of Hall tempo and bonding. Moreover the meals here are also not very good plus hostels are provided to everybody and they are affordable nobody here stays in a pg but the hostels can be made better and there is a lot of scope to improve upon it.
Admission
In my case admission into Iits are done via JEE Advanced Counselling and according to my J rank it was the best college and I would be getting apart from that I sat for wbj and I would get Jadakpur University Computer Science Course but I opted for iit kgp because it's a better institute in terms of stability and alumni networks moreover it's the oldest iit of our country it also has a better qs university rankings and nirf rankings moreover the placements and internship stats are also better here. Apart from that I have not applied to any other college. The cut offs for the post that I have chosen is for general people lies between the ranks of around 500 in JEE advanced and I am not sure about the people with reservation. For this the score you need in the J advanced papers vary from year to year in my year I got 230 marks out of 360.
Faculty
The faculties here are really approachable moreover the relationship between the faculties and the students are very good except for some cases very few amount of faculties or professors are dude and justice don't want to communicate except that they're really good some of the faculties who were really good were Mr. Aritra Chatterjee, Mr. Pawan Goyal, Ms. Sudeshna Koley. I like them because they were really open to the students and used to teach really well in the class so that the students did not have to worry much about the subject at the hostels and they could focus on extracurricular studies. There are few faculties that I don't like but I wont name them for obvious reasons. About the exams the exams are held on a semester basis there are in a semester there are two main exams for theory which are mid semester and end semester examinations where for most of the courses the end semester examination holds a weightage of 50% and the midsem holds about 30%. The rest of the 20% are on the hands of the professors they are mostly given on the basis of tests and attendance which are held on a regular basis during the semester. The difficulty of the examinations are based on how much you have studied some of the courses have a really hard grading system and barely some people can get the highest grade.
