What Students Say
Likes
- The excellent opportunities like several workshops, competitions at the campus mostly free or affordable.
- The learning facilities are very well developed and excellent for laboratory practical courses
- The ability to meet people from all over the country and broaden your horizons
Dislikes
- The academic pressure on students is very high which can cause severe stress
- People often feel lonely because of not having close friends or connections.
- The campus is pretty much without rules with so much freedom so there is a lot of chance of people going astray.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is pretty well designed and detailed. The curriculum is interesting and interconnected and covers all the crucial topics. If the topics are studied diligently it is possible to get a good grip of the chemical Engineering in general. But the course is outdated like it has the basics but the changes along the years should be added in the curriculum. It might be because adding new things to the curriculum every year might also be confusing for the students
Internships Opportunities
The internships available form 5 th sem and companies came are Google, microsoft, Accenture, nvidia, piramal etc. the stipend for software ranges from 50000 to 3 lakh. Some may even go to 34 lakh per month for abroad.
Placement Experience
From the 5th semester students are eligible for internship process on behalf of the college. Students can apply for internships off campus from first year. The placements start from 7th semester for btech and 9th semester for dual degree. Companies visited are Google, Microsoft, Accenture, nvidia, optiver. The average package for software profile is 24lpa, hardware is 15 lpa and other core is around 10 lpa. About 60 to 75 percent students sitting for placements get placed. I plan to do anything MS in Germany after this.
Fees and Financial Aid
Totally we have three types of fees. The institute tuition fees, the hostel fees and the mess fee and the miscellaneous fees. 1. Tuition Fee for UR/EWS/OB-NCL with annual income greater than 5 lakh : Rs.1 lakh 2. Tuition Fee for UR/EWS/OB-NCL with annual income less than or equal to 5 lakhs is Rs.33335. 3. Tuition Fee need not be paid for UR/EWS/OB-NCL category students with annual income less one lakh and SC/ST/physically disabled candidates. The current fee structure is a. For semester fee 400 rs. for registration, student amenities 800rs, examination fee 500rs, training and placement 1500rs, technology film society 100rs, Gymkhana fee 600rs, student brotherhood fund 200rs, medical registration fee 200rs, student welfare policy 2500rs, internet connectivity 600rs, electricity and water charges 1000rs, lab contingency fee 800 rs. and hostel seat rent 750 rs. The hall/hostel fee is hostel overhead fees 730 rs, mess charges 4500 rs, hall establishment fee is 15125rs.
Campus Life
The fests conducted are 1. Spring fest and kshitij the technology fest in January, 2. Illumination program for diwali in November. The classrooms have sheet for displaying sides, charging cables, high speed campus wifi. the academic books related to the courses and most of all books related to any topic are available in the library. Our library is very big and has so many books. If any book is not available we can just apply for them and they will be made available. The sports are swimming, cricket, football, running etc. The student run societies are Telugu student association, societies for the fests conducted. They help the students bind with each other and learn new things
Hostel Facilities
The hostel rooms for our hall are quite big and simple. The room has power cables for all 4 people, 4 tables, and mosquito nets. The meals are quite bland and not tasty at all. The menu never changes and sometimes we have insects in our food. Some halls have good food but they won't allow us there. It is quite unfair for some halls to get good food and some to get bad food. I am paying 20000 for the food which is not worth it.
Admission
I applied for my college through JEE advanced counseling. This is my first choice for admission. I chose IIT Kharagpur as it is good for chemical Engineering and I wanted to go far from my home state but still a good college. Kharagpur IIT was in 5th place then so I chose it. The cutoff for jee advanced is getting rank of below 15000.
Faculty
One course is generally taught by one or two professors but one at a time. Our department strength is 97. Most of the professors teach really well but are strict with the attendance and should come early to class. We have 2 class tests one mid semester and one end semester. The class test and mid sem are fairly easy but the days fly by so easily so it's hard to ace them until you study daily diligently. The end sem is hard because of the vast syllabus and one week preparation is not enough. My favourite professor is prof swambabu varanasi. He explains very clearly and in detail. Most of the professors explain really good but you just have to go to classes diligently and revise at room too. The course material is pretty old so that can be modified according the technology right now especially departments like chemical can focus more on the upcoming trends like environmental engineering, green energy and nanotechnology
