Remarks

I applied in SGTB Khalsa college for 2 courses namely, Political Science & Economics honors and finally chose to go with Economics after discussing the syllabus & career prospects with the faculty. The college I chose is managed by DSGMC, so I took admission in Economics honors with the Sikh Minority Quota. Anyone who is a sikh can get thier certificate and apply in the 4 Colleges run by DSGMC in Delhi University. The criteria for admission in my course was to fall into the cut off with your best 4 subject marks alongwith a minimum of 50% in maths in class 12th. Please note that it's not compulsory to include your maths marks in the best 4 (if applying in Economics.)

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Again, I chose this course considering my career prospects and interests based on this syallbus. The course helps you to get an overall idea and refreshment of each and everything about the Economy, It not only focusses on the economic point of view but also the politicak hows and whys. Faculty in Khalsa is something I would really like to talk about. They are a bunch of fun-loving, friendly people. 50% of them being young aged teachers makes the classes interactive and fun- loving too.

Internships Opportunities

5

There are around 250+ companies that offer internships to you (both paid and unpaid) in the due course of the degree. These internships range from small start-ups to Big 4 ans has it all. I myself, got an paid internsip with College Dunia web private Limited with the help of 'Ignite: The Placement Cell'.

Placement Experience

4

Khalsa College offers placements and internships both. Packages differ from course to course and comapnies that come in. highest Packaage in the year 2020 was 15LPA for Bcom student. The highest Package for economics went to 6+3 LPA in the year 2020.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is 20k-21k per year for 1 year & provided that it is a 3 year degree, the fee rounds up to 60-65k for the course alone. Talking about the hostel, it costs around 1.5 Lakh for girls and boys hostel is yet to be opened.

Campus Life

5

Campus life is something that makes Khalsa stands out with other colleges in the Delhi university. A total vibe it is, undoubtedly. It has one of the largest sports ground as compared to other collleges. It also has many societies (or social clubs) run by students and in different fields ranging from cultural like arts and dance to nt-so-political liek debating and MUNs.

Hostel Facilities

5

Here comes the best part of the college and that is the hostel and its food. "Mata Gujri Girls' Hostel" provides one of the best meals in the campus. Hostel provides 4 unlimited meals to all the students with a taste lie that of a punjabi house. About the accomodation, theyhave rooms on sharing basis, and i.e., 3 girls per room alongwith attached washrooms and bathroom for everyone.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is something that can have improvements. For example I am studying C++ in my computer minor class which is becoming less and less relavent as compared to a lamguage like python. Alot of job prospects require students to know a language like R so I feel things like that should be taught so that the course cam make a student more real world ready.

My course is on a difficult side . There are subjects like statistics and maths which are too practical and hard . But this opens my mind towards practical approaches. Moreover the demand for this course is much more then its related courses like bcom and bba.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My course requires a lot of analytical and logical thinking. The scope is quite wide in my course without having any professional degree too like research, analytics, finance manager etc. This course gives opportunity to gain applied skills and as we are dealing with quantitaive aspects our statistics also gets better with time. Few improvements which i would like suggest are that their should more practical and real life knowledge, currently it is very theoritically heavy. Teaching online softwares must be compulsoury so that we remain updated with technology.

Placements of my college are pretty good. The placement cell of my college is pretty active and facilitataes the placement process. Companies like Deloitte, EY and PWC often come to our college for placements with the average package being Rs. 8,00,000. After getting this degree, i will pursure another degree in MBA or I might also take a part in the placement process and pursue an MBA later. Students in semester 6 and further can take part in the placement process but there are internship fairs and summer internship programmes for students who are not eligible for placements

I have a keen interest in pursuing in Economics field as a career and hence my degree perfectly aligns with my career goals The curriculum is not very effective when we talk aboht the real world exposure however it is very good for further academic pursuits The curriculum could be a bit more practical based where we get exposure to the real industry as well. The exams are held twice in an year. The difficulty level is moderate
