Remarks

I got admission to this college in the 6th cutoff after roaming 4 colleges, the admission process here was very quick and everything was done by laptops or pcs. Coming into the college, We were guided to a separate room where college volunteers that were mainly 2nd and 3rd yr students guided us regarding the documents we require. They helped us arrange documents in order of how and when they have to be submitted. Our 12th results were then verified by a teacher on the laptop, followed by other documents and eligibility criteria. This was followed by giving us our roll number for the college and then we were directed to a room where we got out new email id with the college as the domain that is pre requisite for logging in into the college app SMARTPROFF SGGSCC that records our attendance, marks and other notices. We were then asked to deposit the fee online. It was a quick 5 min process. They gave us a receipt, we got it attested from the accounts department and Yes ADMISSION DONE.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Faculty members are very knowledgeable here . Most of them have completed their PhDs.They teach topics thoroughly and clear doubts very nicely, no matter how many times you reach out to them. Coming on to the exam, Each semester we used to have internal assessments mainly 2 or 3 times. This computed for 20marks for finals. This may be a presentation, written exam or any other way the teacher likes. The level of exams was generally intermediate but advanced for some subjects. But yes, if you have attended lectures regularly with full concentration, the exams are easy for you. The next 5 marks come for attendance which is recorded on the College Application( quite convenient as students always knew how much attendance they have). Every class has a projector, whiteboard and blackboard. It varies from teacher to teacher which option they chose to teach. However, this is assured that teaching level is quite high here where teachers provide all support and guidance throughout unlike other colleges.

Internships Opportunities

5

The internship fair is organized once a year wherein many companies come to hire 1st, 2nd and 3rd year students. The job profile varies but is mixed related to all the streams. I haven't taken an internship from the college, so not experienced regarding the same. However many of my friends took and have worked with job profiles of Data management, HR, financial and general management.

Placement Experience

5

6 semester students are eligible for campus placements. Many companies like KMG, Deloitte, Wipro etc come to college to hire freshers. The placement cell guides quite well regarding the smooth process. Since I have done BA(H) Economics, I plan to go into higher studies right now. Hence, I'm preparing to get into a good masters college. The majority of students after doing BA(H) Economics go for masters, some bunch goes for MBA and some take college placements.

Fees and Financial Aid

The 1st position in merit for a course gets a Scholarship. There are also many other scholarships available. I have got it two times. Fees are high as compared to other colleges but are worth as per the campus facilities provided. There is an internship fair wherein many companies hire interns. It provides great opportunities. Coming to campus placement, many companies like Deloitte, KPMG, Wipro etc come in. Many opportunities are open for campus placements here.

Campus Life

5

There are many fests, events and seminars throughout the year by different societies governed by IQAC. The range of societies varies from dance and literature, academic societies like Economics, Commerce, BBE, BMS. For sports, there are different grounds. Every single detail of the societies is mentioned on the College website. The campus vibe is amazing with greenery all around and the eye catcher being the Auditorium which can accommodate a mass bunch of students. The library is 3 floors which are all digitalised, starting from your entry through QR scanner on icard to the lending of hard copies of books. The whole vibe of the library is quite peaceful. It's a quiet place wherein one can enjoy solitude or study. There is also on campus Gurudwara Sahib which is open to all and the society VISMAAD organises monthly sangrand Kirtan and other kirtan programs. Everything here is started by reciting GURBANI shabads to thank god and remember his presence.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Our college offers a good mix of theory and real-life application, making it a good choice for anyone genuinely curious about how the human mind works. It also balances academics with hands-on experiences—students don’t just read about psychology in theory, they actually get to practice it through labs, experiments, internships, and field visits. Regular workshops, seminars, and presentations keep the learning process interactive and help build communication and analytical skills that are useful both inside and outside the classroom. Recently a resilience workshop was held by an alumni of MSCW, where we got deeper insights about how resilience can be built, how coping works and how some coping techniques can be bad for u.

Dyal Singh Placements aren't that hefty that I can boast a lot about them. Since I have already mentioned in previous section that I want the deepest knowledge of political science and the only way, one can gain that is by doing masters. Coming to DSC placements over 30% students of Political Science from our college are placed via campus.

Media people as Hindi Hons students obviously have chane there or researches. Some even pursue freelance things as college provides the perfect platform to gain confidence and showcase the skills. Otherwise research or political expert roles are the only roles offered to Hindi Hons students. Since I want a complete command I will be doing masters in Hindi Hons.

DSC placements are not that great as around 30-40% students are placed and that is how it is here. Most students of Political Science go for higher studies or get job opportunities in political consultancy or journalism.

For placements, there's not much on campus placement programs. Our placement cells are active though. Time to time they keep us posted about the upcoming internship or job opportunities and even invite various organisations for placements. You can even look for off campus placement programs and teachers are very helpful in this. They even offer letter of recommendation for the internship opportunities upon request.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I love the course I have opted for in the College. I had so much interest in literature since I was in school, hence made the decision to opt for English Honours in my undergraduate degree. The curriculum of this particular course is easy to get, teaches practical knowledge. We have Internal Assesment and Continuous Assessment before theory exams. In continuous assessment, we are given some topic to make presentation or a group discussion from our sense of knowledge and experience. Speaking up in a crowd and in front of the whole class gives the practical knowledge of being there, present, confidence and speak up your thoughts I would love if we can also watch theatre within the curriculum as we read various plays but watching and analysing them would be great. Mostly the exams are held in December and May, they are moderate level of examination and I have found absolute no difficulty sitting in them and writing. We get 3 hours for the core subjects, and 1 hour for our respective VACs, SECs and AECs.

The course curriculum I took is okay considering the low placement percentage from the college's side which is I would say sometimes bad and good at the same time as the students can find their own way around such things. Faculty just complete the topics. we have to study ourselves.
