Course Curriculum Overview

5

I love the course I have opted for in the College. I had so much interest in literature since I was in school, hence made the decision to opt for English Honours in my undergraduate degree. The curriculum of this particular course is easy to get, teaches practical knowledge. We have Internal Assesment and Continuous Assessment before theory exams. In continuous assessment, we are given some topic to make presentation or a group discussion from our sense of knowledge and experience. Speaking up in a crowd and in front of the whole class gives the practical knowledge of being there, present, confidence and speak up your thoughts I would love if we can also watch theatre within the curriculum as we read various plays but watching and analysing them would be great. Mostly the exams are held in December and May, they are moderate level of examination and I have found absolute no difficulty sitting in them and writing. We get 3 hours for the core subjects, and 1 hour for our respective VACs, SECs and AECs.

Fees and Financial Aid

So I am currently pursuing me 2nd year in Gargi College from general category. In my first year, I paid 18015 rupees for an year and my fee is reduced to 1795 in second year. College does provide various scholarships and financial aid according to your score and your financial situation.

Campus Life

5

The overall Vibe of campus is vibrant, joyful and the college seems very alive. You will find the college societies having there sessions everywhere and there is a concept of ECA per week where so many extra curricular activities are organised for the students. The societies here are very famous in overall DU circuit lile "Kshitij : The street play society" and "Enliven : the Western dance society". They are inclusive in nature, you have to give audtions in order to get into the society. There are so many non - performing and beautiful societies as well. The library is not that big in the campus, though there are alot of books from almost every existing course in the college. We have computer and Google labs here where you can find a laptop or computer for yourself to study and do other stuff, apart from that, there are projectors in some classes but mostly blackboard.

Admission

I applied for Delhi University and Jawaharlal University for an undergraduate degree. I give the CUET examination to get admission in college, I scored 713/800 from general catego6and got Gargi in my first allotment, I was really happy because I was aiming for this college as the faculty of english is so nice here. I didn't went to some other College because it has been a dream to be a part of DU circuit for a long time. The admission process was quite easy, we got forms out and we had to make a preference list according to the Colleges and courses desired for. Once you get your allotment, you have to pay the fee and freeze the college, after that you can goto college on the orientation day with a print of few receipt in your hands.

Faculty

4

We usually have 7 teachers per semester for a class. The faculty here is great which not only helps in academical stuff for also to a personal level. They are very approachable, friendly and inspiring. I absolutely love my English Faculty of Gargi College, they are cool, smart and vibey. I have opted Political science as my minor subject and I somewhere don't like some of the faculty members from there because of their teaching style. There are 2 semester in a year one have to sit for the exams twice a year. They exams are at moderate level and usually student pass them with some amount of hardwork.

Interview Experience

4

I got allotment through cuet examination, I sat in the examination and score 713/800 in 3 core subjects and one language. After filling the form and preference list, I got allotment in my first round, I freezed the college by paying fee. I prepared all of it through online free classes on youtube and self study, I practised mock test papers regularly.

Night Life

1

Gargi being a girl's college with no Hostel facilities, there is no night life here though there are various spots to hangout such as the Basketball court, tennis court, the ground, inside of the audi foyer, PCs, Arts quard, etc. College usually starts from 8:30 and classes can be conducted till 5:30 according to your course and timetable.

Other Applied Colleges

Jawaharlal Nehru University - [JNU] | Master of Arts [MA] (English)

This was not my first preference

DSC placements are not that great as around 30-40% students are placed and that is how it is here. Most students of Political Science go for higher studies or get job opportunities in political consultancy or journalism.

For placements, there's not much on campus placement programs. Our placement cells are active though. Time to time they keep us posted about the upcoming internship or job opportunities and even invite various organisations for placements. You can even look for off campus placement programs and teachers are very helpful in this. They even offer letter of recommendation for the internship opportunities upon request.

Area that should be improved that is treat every student similarly without any discrimination. Faculty don't even tdke action on sol, IGNOU and NCWEB students. So I think it should be improved firstly.

The curriculum is very broad and relevant, it covers both theory and practical aspects of the subject. It is very nice to prepare for further higher studies, though more real-world cast studies and interactive teaching.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is relevant to the current aspects of real world. It is also very focused on the practical component of the subject and helps us know how to apply our theoretical concepts in real life. Aspects that influenced me were: the practicality, the relatibiltiy of concepts and the testing approaches as well.

Placement Experience:

Since i am 2nd year myself, hearing from seniors, seeing placement cell activities and reading reports, placement at ipcw are decent but far from perfect. The placement drive is not as huge or reliable as some commerce Acc. to the nirf report, for ug courses out of 1204 eligible students 118 got placed, which is roughly 9-10, for pg course, out of 100 eligible students only 6 got placed. Median package for UG was 6.20 lakhs per annum, and for pg is 6.7 lakhs per annum. In earlier years (2022-23) , median UG package was higher. The highest package went to 23 lakhs per annum which was quite impressive. It was from DE Show and co., Wipro, Capgeminie etc. there are regular recruiters like DE. Shaw abd co.,Wipro, Capegemini, Godrej properties, Sirion Labs etc. What i feel personaly as an eco hons. student unless i build extra i cant really expect placement. Masters and competetive exams are next option

The course curriculum I took is okay considering the low placement percentage from the college's side which is I would say sometimes bad and good at the same time as the students can find their own way around such things. Faculty just complete the topics. we have to study ourselves.
