What Students Say
Likes
- I love the atmosphere of Gargi. You can always find fearless and ambitious girls here, so, it may get a little difficult to fit in at first. But after a while, you gain a confidence like no other.
- Next best thing about Gargi is exposure you get in societies like music, dance, drama, sports, everything.
Dislikes
- I think the professors can be a little intimidating at times, always nagging students for grades and always giving a hard time during internals.
- I believe the placement cell can give better opportunities for internships.
Course Curriculum Overview
I wanted to gain knowledge in business aspects and I am quite satisfied with my course. From covering marketing to business statistics and economics, I think it's quite good for commerce students. You gain knowledge of all the things you'd ever like to know.
Internships Opportunities
The BIG 4, KPMG, EY, Deloitte, etc. come to Gargi for placements. There are many internship opportunities as well with stipend starting from 2k to 15-20k. The normal package is 4 LPA to as big as 10LPA, depending on the company's criteria.
Placement Experience
The placement cell is very active. Each year, we have internship fairs and they do conduct placement events all the time with famous speakers. Placement criteria is average but then again, it's up to the companies. With famous companies like the BIG 4, EY, KPMG, etc.
Fees and Financial Aid
For commerce, the normal yearly fee is only 15,000 rupees. For students with quota like OBC,SC/ST, it may get even lower and discounted. In my first year, I paid 14,500. In the second year, I paid 15,000 and in my final year, I paid 18,000. So, It does increase by 2000-3000 rupees every year depending on your course and if you have taken up anything extra as well. There is no such other fee but if you are a commerce student, you may have to give some fee around 1800 for The Commerce Association if you want to attend commerce events. All in all, I believe Gargi is very affordable, especially for students looking for government colleges with good facilities.
Campus Life
I'm a part of the Classical Music Society. All my time goes there and it's quite fun. You get to do your thing and even have exposure through fest competitions throughout DU.. I think college is a huge place where you get to show your talent and Gargi makes sure of that through numerous societies.
Admission
I applied to a number of colleges with SRCC being on top (as for every college student). But honestly, I just wanted to get into DU anyhow because ofc, it's affordability and quality of education. When I got the seat, I straight up took it because Gargi is one of the most prestigious colleges of DU.
Faculty
The faculty is extremely qualified with each one having a doctorate in their respective subjects. Most of them are quite good but some of them can be a little intimidating at times. I think as the semesters pass, it gets a little more tense in terms of tests and internals. Exams are moderate level.
Interview Experience
No, although I did prepare for CUET. You need to crack CUET before getting into Delhi University. Earlier, it used to be on merit basis but now-a-days, CUET score matters. Students usually spend a lot in CUET coaching but I would suggest not to waste your hard earned money there and instead, study via yourself and Youtube.
Night Life
Well, Gargi doesn't offef hostel facilities. So, I can't say much about night life and I'm also a day scholar so, no PG life as well lol. But if I were to tell you, there's this chai tapri near college where we hang out most of the time. Then, we also have a beautiful cafe - Diggin. It's quite expensive, so, we rarely go there. The area is beautiful though.
Other Applied Colleges
