Joka - an experience!

IIM Calcutta brand image, the immense learning it offers and the culture that focuses on overall personality growth made me choose this institution over the others that I had converted. After the WAT-PI round for all candidates was over, final calls were released during mid april and subsequent waitlists were being updated. The process at campus began on june 10th, 2019

The course curriculum during first year is designed in such a manner so as to provide knowledge about all the aspects of management and business education. During the second year students can make a choice from the entire bouquet of electives ranging from all the academic groups. Faculty is highly qualified and delivers content in an effective manner encouraging class discussions and grading on the basis of multiple evaluation criteria like assignments, quizzes, case analysis and presentations. Examinations require a thorough understanding of concepts and are mostly application based.

The first year students are eligible to participate in the summer placement process for getting internships after first year ends and before the start of second year. Summer internship is a mandatory requirement for degree completion.

The first year students are eligible for summer placement process usually happens during term 2 and final year students are eligible for final placement cycle during their term 5/6. The placement report is released by the committee after every placement cycle

Students having family income less than 8 lacs (as per govt decisions) can avail need based scholarships. There are other scholarships too based on profile and CGPA criteria. The summer placements offer good stipend and final placements opportunities are also many.

The culture at campus is amazing encompassing clubs for everything and students can also start a new SIG if they want to introduce another club given there is enough interest among students. Sports is highly appreciated and the contingent takes part in annual fest at IIM Lucknow, the inter-IIM fest Sangharsh, C-XL meet and various intersection, interhostel and sports leagues are organised throughout the year. There are series of events conducted by entrepreneurship cell, social initiatives by INCA, art events, music nights and events, choreo performances and parties on festivals. 7 lakes fest is organised annually around feb.

Hostel residence is a must for MBA students. Basic items bed, mattress, wardrobe, study table, shelves and chair are provided in the room. Washrooms are common and rooms are single. Mess charges are additional to fee while hostel charges are included. Facility of night canteen and tuck shop is also there.
