Remarks

Kalyani Government Engineering College is one of reputed government college in west bengal as well as in India. By entering 'kgec' in google anyone can find the details about this college. There was a Train, Bus, Auto all types of transportation connection there. Just 1 hour 30 minutes away from Kolkata.

Course Curriculum Overview

Mechanical engineering department is the oldest department, and best faculties are there. Professors are highly qualified and experienced. Except mechanical department, there was a another 5 departments. College library was quite good. Faculty and students ratio is like 1:50. Exams was quite tough. But if you follow the lectures and practical, then you can pass easily.

Placement Experience

From 7th semester students are eligible for campus placements. Maximum nos. of students are placed in TCS, with average package of 4 lakhs. 60% students get placed. My plan was to do M.Tech after getting the degree.

College Events

Campus Life was quite good. Library was good enough. 2 common rooms are available for boys and girls for entertainment purposes. Various books and journals available in library. No clubs present. Some cultural activities were held. Overall students can enjoy there college life.

Fee Structure And Facilities

However placement is not that much in core sectors as compared to software sectors. In software sector maximum students get placed. Fee structure is so cheap, as this is a government college. Also scholarship opportunities are available. Cost of study is arround Rs 10000 in 4 years.

Hostel Facilities

Hostels are so good, and food was good enough. As it is a government college hostel, all things are available at reasonable prices. Food quality also good enough. Every room there is a LAN connection with high speed internet.

Story of hit

Placement Experience:

The campus placement from recently past years is slightly good . Like tcs infosys cognizant ibm Capgemini like companies comes every year with good placement and capsitech gives you internship from 3 year . From 7th sem you are eligible for campus placement in 2025 the avg package is 5-7 lpa and Highest lpa is 75lpa . My plan is getting good job in good company

Placement Experience:

7th semester is when the students get to sit for placements. I am not sure about the total no of companies visited but I am aware of the name of few companies like IBM Infosys Wipro Capsitech Tech Mahindra cognizant etc . Mostly the girls are 100 percent placed cause there is diversity hiring. Mass recruiters is what visit our campus mostly.. I personally would look for a job after graduation highest package offered displayed by college is 75 lpa but I don't think so it is real. Maybe someone had worked hard and got placed off campus. On campus highest isbi guess 12-14 lpa

Course Curriculum Overview:

- I choose Data Science as it is new to my college when comparing with the other branches. The curriculum is just okay it is not per industry standards but if students deep drives in each aspects then they are likely to crack GATE exams. - The whole curriculum needs and improvement from the very 1st Year and removal of irrelevant subjects like Discrete Mathematics, Electonics, Biology for IT branches are required. - Semester exams are conducted every 6 months and CTs are conducted every 2 months

NIT Durgapur:-A wholesome Insight in the college life and it's different aspects

Placement Experience:

For campus placements student become eligible from the 7th semester onwards and for internships student get eligible from 5th semester onwards. Wide no of companies visited our campus around 180+ and made around 580+ offers to the students. The highest salary was 58LPA which was offered by DE Shaw and the highest accepted salary was 51LPA in Microsoft.The average package rolls roughly around 10-12 LPA.The profile offered include SDE roles, management roles,finance in some cases.The overall placement percentage was around 80% with Branches like electrical and metallurgy moving above 90% followed by CSE and ECE in the mid 80s while for biotech and civil the placement percentage are generally below 70.My plans after getting the degree is to land a job offer from on campus placements.Therefafter maybe look out for and MBA from top B schools of india.

I gave West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination in 2024. I scored a decent rank but due to high cut off of this year I didn't get good branch in Jadavpur University.
