Course Curriculum Overview

4

If you are going for CSE and IT or somehow ECE then its ok but don't go for EE and ME. I don't expect any one to do Mtech from this college as its good for BTech and also MCA somehow. Though I don't have any idea about Mtech department. On campus placement are moderate for CSE and IT. TCS comes as a mass recruiter and recruite 50-60 students overall on an average. And some other companies like cognizant and few more visits. And most get placed in big companies like Amazon, jp morgan, microsoft through off campus.

Fees and Financial Aid

The Overall fees structure including all tution fees and others is: CSE - 12000/yr (2 sem in per year) IT - 28000/yr ECE - 12000/yr EE & ME - 6000/yr And the students securing above 60% per year and having income lower than 250000/year will be getting SVMCM Scholarship of ?60000/year and also there are other freeship and halfship available for students with poor family income on the basis of merit and other Scholarships for SC and ST and OBC students are also available.

Campus Life

Yes, Our college have lots of clubs where you can get in and be a member, there is dancing club, singing club, quiz club, art club, photography club, literature club, gdsc club, nss, sports, robotics and many more. There is a library from where you can borrow books using your library card. And every year cultural feast espektro is organised by the college for 4days.

Admission

Admission process is through WBJEE and JELET for Lateral entry students for Btech. I applied to this college as it is near to my home and still my college is considered as 2nd best government engineering college in West Bengal after JU. For general students to get CSE you need to secure a rank of within 1900 in WBJEE, for IT within 2500.

The college is affiliated under MAKAUT, however it might be transforming to autonomous soon as I heard. There are 4 CA exams, 2PCA exams and 2 Semester exams per year. CA exams are of 25 marks PCA are for lab exams for 40 marks there marks are given by college teachers. And semester exams have two parts lab exam which will held by college and theory exam which is held under university MAKAUT. In semester theory exam you need overall 40% to pass. 70marks theory and 30 marks depends on best of 4 CA's + attendance. If you get less then 40 out of total 100 you will het backlog. Makaut paper is quite moderate tough. And dont except teachers will give too much marks in CAs, PCAs and in attendance. And If you fail in semester lab exam, you will be getting yearlag as there is no PPR for semester lab exam. And I assure you If you are present for lab exam you pass easily (except for chemistry in first year).

Placement Experience:

The students get eligible at 3rd year 6th sem. Though before that you can do internship or freelancing which will increase the weight of your profile. The percentage of student getting placement is around 60-70% and the average package is around 4-5lakhs per annum. The highest package got by a student previous year was around ?10lakhs per annum.

Remarks:

Provide decent jobs to most students. Faculties are helpful and teach well. You can issue 3 books at a time from the library once your library card is made. Classes are held to enhance your communication skills. A lot of items in the canteen and cafeteria. No ragging. There is no ground to play. Very strict rules, has a lot of restrictions. Most students call it a jail, cause you cannot bunk classes. But believe me, it will shape you into a good human being and you will also get placed if you put your effort. Best of luck for your college life.
