Remarks

Amazing experience with scintillating and life-changing moments.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Curriculum structure is one of the best in the world. Timely upgradations are done in sync with the times and my study there has helped me become a better professional. For In-depth exploration of topics, reference books were recommended and were available in the well stocked library.

Placement Experience

4.5

Blue-chip firms seeking professionals from the literature field for deployment into creative, advertising and public relations functions were flocking to the institution. Bid ad firms also lined up for copywriting assignments. Publications hunted newbies for journalism roles.

College Events

5

Annual Festival, Dramas, Carnivals and Rock concerts were dime a dozen. The annual fest was a grand affair with sponsorships from corporates and industrialists. Technical excellence was a newborn baby in those times and folks were adopting computerization gradually.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees was nominal as the trust that ran the college was for charitable purposes. It had normative goals that had minimal mercenary objectives. Mostly there was an annual fees that could be paid in two instalments. There was absolute transparency in the fee structure.

Fees and Financial Aid

I did not opt for scholarship, as I did not have any financial difficulties. My father paid for my expenses in college.

Campus Life

5

Campus life was exciting. The male to female ratio was healthy with plenty of cultural diversity. Students from different parts of India came into the college and it was a cultural melting pot. The environment was friendly and amiable with skirmishes few and far between.

Hostel Facilities

5

Yes, I did not opt for hostel accommodation and was allotted a single sharing room. The accommodation was comfortable and had the basic amenities for students. I stayed there for two years without any discomfort.

Alumni/Alumna

There is a vibrant alumni network spread across the globe. Seniors were very helpful after the initial ice-breaking and thereafter served as a support system not only throughout college but later as well.

Admission

Merit list based admissions during my time. Now, I have heard that they conduct and entrance test for under-graduate courses and interviews for post-graduate courses. Times have changed, so Delhi University has gone for a centralized admissions process now.

Faculty

5

Faulty selection was a lofty affair, with pedigreed professionals being shortlisted from the best of the institutions worldwide. Most lecturers had industry exposure and certifications from professional bodies. Re-learning was the norm those days and helped the students get a cutting edge.

Delhi University - [DU], Master of Arts [MA] (East Asian Studies)
Reviewed on Jan 17, 2024(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course considering my interest in East Asian culture and Languages. The Faculty: Student ratio is 1:40 and most of the professors are Ph.D scholars. The teaching method comprises reading books and learning after it which stipulates the form of an ancient education system like any other mediocre Indian University. "An important factor to consider is that faculty sometimes fell short due to a shortage of subject masters(or should I say language) For example, Chinese faculty is much in number and experience than Korean and Japanese while the latter suffer the incompetency of the number of faculty. Term exams happened to be very fast but it was due to the internal issues that remain consistent in DU and except that there would be tons of Internal Assessments that play a major role in one's SGPA. Exam level - Hard!

Course Curriculum Overview:

I was interested in knowing more about the politics of the country, additionally, it was going to help me out with my UPSC optional. Though the faculty-student ratio has increased now, still professors are easily accessible to discuss. One can approach their chambers, also each student gets an academic advisor allotted. The faculty here is one of the best in the country, even overseas. That is the foremost reason why students want to be here. The teaching method is very impersonal, where Faculty itself has the power to design the syllabus and assess them as they want. The course is not easy, and rigorous and one should engage properly in the readings to write good answers and develop a deep understanding. Centre for political studies (CPS) takes two mid-semester exams and one end-semester exam in a semester.

The work culture is very intense at TERI. It's needs to be a little eased out with a few number of subjects as we are studying 8 subjects in a single semester. Therefore it becomes very clogged up and intense by the end of the semester.
