Remarks
Initially, I precisely chose this college because for me the choice, of course, was more important and I had heard from one of my seniors in school who study in DU that this college has a decent political science department. Without any delay, I chose this among other choices of Maharaja Agrasen and Zakir Hussain as this was in South campus itself and not an off-campus college. The department of Political Science of the college is the best department of this college and also when compared to other colleges. Most Professors are very dependable. One or two here and there. Notes are provided. Regular classes are held. Recently, the department also provided an opportunity for students to conduct a pre-poll election survey in recent Delhi Elections to get Field experience. The department also took us to Parliament to watch live Lok Sabha debate by sitting inside the Parliament. President house was also visited. Admission proces is same.
Course Curriculum Overview
I already mentioned about faculty members. Choosing this course for me was a reason for passion. If you are really into political happenings of India and the world, only then I will suggest you pursue the course. As being up to date to information is necessary and when you don't have interest it can get difficult to handle. The lectures are held regularly. Internal examinations are taken that consist of 25 marks (10 for written + 10 for assignment + 5 for attendance). Per the paper, only internal examination for these 25 marks is held. Due to time constraints, no other informal exams are held. Yes, teachers would surely ask you questions here and there from current happenings which is usual. Professors also help you with other topics beyond paper if you approach them for knowledge purpose. Overall, a good academic experience is provided.
Placement Experience
Recently, a placement cell is put on active mode. Internships are coming on the way. It's for all the years of the course. Since it started properly just now in my view, I cannot answer more questions about it.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees structure of Motilal Nehru College is the LOWEST among other colleges of DU. I mean IT for my course, I pay about 7500rs for one year and no other such fees other than this. So, one-year fees are less than 8000 for Political science. That's all. Also, the reserved categories and other scholarship prospect are also given. This way you have to pay even less. Recently, the placement cell of MLNC has started on a vivid basis. Now, internship opportunities come more often. Overall, in terms of money, the college is worth it for the course of Political science.
Campus Life
Life at campus becomes how to choose to frame it. By this I mean, it depends on your purpose as to what your main aim is. If academics is your soul purpose, I already explained it + the library of the college is quite good and one of the largest among other DU colleges. Also, books are available. Societies are in abundance and all are very active. Electra, Jhankaar etc for dance. For fashion. For Debate, Poetry, Creative writing, all three in both English and Hindi language. Sports. Enactus for campus dogs care. Yoga and meditation society that holds classes 5 days a week for free of cost. Drama society. Art society. Commerce society (they have one). Maths society and so on. Recently, UPSC Cell is also made. In sports, volleyball ground, basketball ground and football ground are present where students are also seen playing Cricket. The annual fest of college is something many people stay away with. Not worth it. But, society fests are decent.
