Remarks
The management of my college while much better that other DU colleges was still quite abysmal.
Entrance Preview
No entrance exam was required. My 12th Board result gained me admission. I opted for this college because it is a reputed college in Delhi University and is located in a central locality.
Course Curriculum Overview
My course curriculum included all aspects of my two majors Psychology and Sociology. It also included subjects like gender equality which helped us widen our thinking patterns.
Internships Opportunities
There were no internship opportunities provided by the college. I arranged an internship for myself. However there was no stipend offered for that. In the field of psychology it is difficult to get a internship during our undergraduation.
Placement Experience
For our particular course there were no placements. No companies/instituitions came to the campus for our course. it was pretty clear that we needed to do a masters before venturing into the workforce in either psychology or sociology
College Events
We had a yearly festival for the whole college with a myriad of events. Over and above that each department had its own yearly festival with events and activities focusing on a core subject. We would have multiple seminars. We also had a number of successful professionals come and talk to us.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees structure in Delhi University is extremely nominal. When is was doing my Bachelors degree the most expensive college was St Stephens at an annual fees of Rs.16, 000/-pa including hostel accommodation. The yearly fees for my college was Approx Rs.8, 000/-
Fees and Financial Aid
I dont have good knowledge of an scholarship or loan facility offered by my college. However i am aware that there were a fair amount of schemes to reduce tuition fees and/or provide monteary help to certain students basis certain parameters
Campus Life
Campus life in DU is a life experience. more of the learning happens outside the classroom rather than inside. It gives you space to grow as an individual and allows you to find out who you really are.
Hostel Facilities
Jesus and Mary College doesn't have any hostel accommodation for its students. My grandparents live in Delhi so i was living with them. However from what i gathered from my classmates the average cost of a shared PG room was Rs.5, 000/- pm including food with 3 people in one room.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network is not at all useful with respect to future job prospects. there are no efforts made by the college administration or the alumni to have any sort of an interaction between the alumni and the current students of the college
Exam Structure
The exams were extremely infrequrent. We had one major exam a year in the months of April to June. This would be a university exam. This would account for 70% of our total score. We would have one internal exam in the month of Jan which would account for 25% of our total exam and 5 marks were for our overall performance in tests and assignments over the year
Faculty
The faculty was good. They helped us grasp the nuances of the subjects that they were teaching us. They were also constantly exploring the new studies in their respective subjects and would apprise us of the same.
