Remarks

This university is an open one, so it is not allowed to get out of the campus after 9.30 pm. This is a healthy practice. Securities are available 24 hrs. Administrative office is open for contact. A students union is there for all type of assistance.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

My course is a 5 year integrated MSc course in Photonics. It is a developing field and advents are happening in this field. Recent Nobel prize for physics was awarded in photonics. It is a semester wise course of 10 semesters. There will be 9 semester exams and the 10 th one is master project.

Placement Experience

4

In our curriculum, only a mini and master projects are compulsory in 6th and 10 th semesters respectively. Internships are not at all compulsory, so stipends are not provided. Even though the condition is this, our faculties push us to apply for certain academic internships to obtain exposure in our field.

College Events

4.5

Our college always have any kind of events. Our department hosts an optics fest and national photonics symposium every year. In addition to this, on every thursdays, we uphold seminars on any published paper. Apart from these academic events, cultural and variety events are held too.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is very much feasible. Only an amount of 20,000 rupees per semester. In additional to it, university hostel is available which is very cheap, that is 300 rupees per month. Mess bill is also that much feasible.

Fees and Financial Aid

College is offering good scolarship facility of returning their fees and hostel rents back. But this is only available for those students having reservations and low annual income. Mess bills are neglected for students of reservation categories.

Campus Life

4

Extracurricular activities are best here. Sports are held among departments and colleges qlso among inter universities. Arts is the best here and is known as sargam. It lasts till morning and is a best vibe here. Lab facilities are good here. It contains high, costly, sophisticated instruments and all.

Hostel Facilities

4

University hostels are available and is very cheap. Only an amount of 300 rupees per month is the rent. Hostel infrastructure is very good. No attatched bathrooms are available. There is badminton court available in the centre court of the hostel.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni meets are held once in a year. They almost are placed in different companies in world wide. Also most will be doing phD in different universities world wide as well. So alumni meets only comprises of limited numbers due to lack of their availability in the country.

Admission

I applied for CUSAT CAT exam. I registered through CUSAT site with a registration fee of 1000 rupees. I wrote the exam and qualified for counselling. It was a collective student group and selection of course, thereafter I joined for the course I preferred.

Faculty

4

Faculties are higly educated and experienced ones. The alumnis of our institution are also placed as assistant professors of the department. They provide us with their deep knowledge of the subject and nourish us wih the concept.

Also the curriculum is good for futher academic process. If the weightage of each module is given, it will be very usefull. Timing of exams and improvement exam must be adjusted according to result announcement.

Good remarks are our laboratory and library. These facility help us a lot for our study. The one thing and feel bad is our canteen. Our canteen needs more development. It require some more space and some standard foods. What we have now is average, we need a good canteen. All other facilities in our college are good according to me.
