When it comes to placements, DTU takes the lead. Not that Jadavpur University is lacking, but DTU consistently attracts top market players and boasts a strong alumni network.

All the best!

Well, first of all, let me tell you that every comparison is relative, and I won't be biased in this answer.

  • Ranking: According to NIRF rankings, JU is in a much better position than DTU.
  • Economy: In terms of economy, there is no comparison. However, DTU also offers a very good return on investment.
  • Location: Location-wise, DTU has a slight edge over JU, though JU is also situated in the heart of a metropolitan city.
  • Infrastructure: Both colleges have well-maintained infrastructure, but if I had to choose one, I'd go for DTU.
  • Placement: Honestly, DTU's placements aren't comparable to JU's. I'd say JU's placements (in a few departments) are on par with IIT Kgp's placements.
  • Huge lush green pollution-free campus: Yes! This is something you'll love—a huge lush green pollution-free campus.
  • Opportunities: Both colleges will provide multiple opportunities if you are a deserving student. However, the success rate in competitive exams like GATE, CAT, and XAT is a bit higher from Jadavpur University. Even the 2nd ranker in ESE (CE) in 2019 is from Jadavpur University.

Honestly, both DTU B.Tech Automotive Engineering and Jadavpur University BE Electrical Engineering have their strengths, but I’d lean towards DTU for a more vibrant campus life and strong industry connections. DTU's emphasis on practical learning and a well-structured curriculum makes it appealing, especially with tech giants frequently recruiting from there. While Jadavpur University has a solid reputation, the pace of learning and faculty involvement at DTU seems more aligned with my preferences. If you value a lively college experience with excellent placement opportunities, go for DTU; however, if you are more into core engineering and research, Jadavpur could be your pick.

According to NIRF Rankings, yes! Additionally, several international rankings show that Jadavpur University (JU) has consistently ranked just below the top 6 IITs and above BITS Pilani as well.

  • NIRF Engineering 2017: JU - 9th, DTU - 39th
  • MHRD, National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF)
  • THE Rankings 2017
  • World University Rankings

That said, we should take all rankings with a pinch of salt. However, it’s also true that public perception can be misleading. DTU, NSIT, and BITS Pilani enjoy better branding and recognition among the general public. JU, despite being equally good, doesn’t receive as much hype on the national level.

From my research, DTU's B.Tech in Automotive Engineering offers a good ROI with decent placements, especially with tech giants like Microsoft and Google, and an average stipend around 25k, which can go up to 200k. The fees increase each year, totaling about 2.49 lakhs by the final year, but scholarships are available, albeit competitive. On the other hand, Jadavpur University's BE in Electrical Engineering has a solid curriculum and might provide a more stable fee structure, but the placement details are less highlighted.

If you're looking for a strong tech placement and vibrant campus life, DTU is the smarter choice. However, if you prefer a more traditional engineering background with potentially lower fees in the long run, Jadavpur University could be the way to go.
